Your telephone equipment is registered with the Federal Communications Commission and is in compliance with parts 15 and 68, FCC Rules and Regulations.
1 Notification to the Local Telephone Company
On the bottom of this equipment is a label indicating, among other information, the FCC Registration number and
Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for the equipment. You must, upon request, provide this information to your telephone company.
The REN is useful in determining the number of devices you may connect to your telephone line and still have all of these devices ring when your telephone number is called. In most (but not all) areas, the sum of the RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed 5. To be certain of the number of devices you may connect to your line as determined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company.
Notes
• This equipment may not be used on coin service provided by the telephone company.
• Party lines are subject to state tariffs, and therefore, you may not be able to use your own telephone equipment if you are on a party line. Check with your local telephone company.
• Notice must be given to the telephone company upon permanent disconnection of your telephone from your line.
2 Rights of the Telephone Company
Should your equipment cause trouble on your line which may harm the telephone network, the telephone company shall, where practicable, notify you that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. Where prior notice is not practicable and the circumstances warrant such action, the telephone company may temporarily discontinue service immediately. In case of such temporary discontinuance, the telephone company must: (1) promptly notify you of such temporary discontinuance; (2) afford you the opportunity to correct the situation; and (3) inform you of your right to bring a complaint to the Commission pursuant to procedures set forth in Subpart E of Part 68, FCC Rules and
Regulations.
The telephone company may make changes in its communications facilities, equipment, operations of procedures where such action is required in the operation of its business and not inconsistent with FCC Rules and Regulations. If these changes are expected to affect the use or performance of your telephone equipment, the telephone company must give you adequate notice, in writing, to allow you to maintain uninterrupted service.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the
FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation.

You need an RJ11 type modular jack, which is the most common type of phone jack and might look like the one pictured here. If you don’t have a modular jack, call your local phone company to find out how to get one installed.

ATTERY
In the event of a power loss, a 9-volt battery (not included) enables the answerer to retain messages stored in memory. To install the battery:
1. Remove the battery compartment door on the bottom of the unit by loosening the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the door.
2. Connect a fresh 9-volt alkaline battery (not included).
The large and small contacts on the battery clip and the battery will interlock. Once connected, place the battery inside the battery compartment.
3. Replace the battery compartment door and tighten the screw.
NOTE
: If the battery is low or not installed, the unit announces “Low Battery” at the end of your messages.

NSTALLATION
1. Plug the coiled cord into the handset. Plug the other end into the jack on the side of the base.
2. Place the handset in the base.
3. Set the TONE/PULSE switch to TONE for touch-tone service, or PULSE for pulse (rotary) service. If you don’t know which type of service you have, check with the phone company.
4. Plug the long telephone line cord into the LINE jack on the back of the phone. Plug the other end into a wall jack.
5. Connect the small end of the power supply into the POWER 9V AC jack on the back of the answerer. Plug the other end into an AC power outlet. The unit counts up, beeps 3 times, and is ready for setup or to answer calls with the default greeting and settings.

INSTALLATION INFORMATION
• Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
• Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals, unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
• Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.

NSTALLATION
1. Turn the handset hook 180º until it clicks into place.
You need to do this so that the handset doesn’t fall out of the base.
2. Plug the coiled cord into the handset. Plug the other end into the jack on the side of the base.
3. Place the handset in the base.
4. Carefully turn the phone over. Detach the wall mount bracket from the two sets of top grooves by pressing the tabs in. Pull the bracket from the phone and turn it around so that it looks like the diagram below. Gently press the bracket into the two sets of bottom grooves until it snaps into place.
5. Plug the short line cord into the jack on the back of the base.
6. Feed the short line cord through the grooves provided so that the bottom of the phone is flat and ready to mount on the wall.
7. Connect the other end of the line cord into the wall phone jack.
8. Set the TONE/PULSE switch to TONE for touch-tone service, or PULSE for pulse (rotary) service. If you don’t know which type of service you have, check with the phone company.
9. Connect the small end of the power supply into the
POWER 9V AC jack on the back of the answerer. Plug the other end into an AC power outlet. The unit beeps 3 times and is ready for setup or to answer calls with the default greeting and settings.
10. Slip the mounting holes of the base (on bottom of unit) over the wall plate posts and slide the base down until the phone is firmly in place.

MPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOVING THE ANSWERER
:
To move the answerer to a different location in the house, follow these instructions:
1. Disconnect the phone line.
2. Install a battery, if you have not already done so. This will ensure that your messages are not lost. See “Installing the Battery”.
3. Go to the electrical outlet and unplug the power supply. DO NOT UNPLUG THE POWER
JACK CONNECTED TO THE UNIT. If you do, all memory will be erased.
4. Move the unit and phone line to the desired location.
5. Plug in the power supply into an electrical outlet.
6. The MESSAGES indicator shows that the messages have not been erased.
7. Connect the phone line.

REETING
Before using your new answerer, you should record a greeting (the announcement callers hear when your answering system answers a call). If you don't record a greeting, callers hear a default greeting which says, "After tone, record message."
When recording the greeting you should be about 6 inches from the unit. Eliminate as much background noise as possible.
1. Prepare your greeting.
Sample Greeting: Hi, this is (use your name here). I can’t answer the phone right now, so please leave
your name, number, and a brief message after the tone, and I’ll get back to you. Thanks for calling.
2. Hold down the GREETING button. The unit announces,“Record greeting after tone,” and displays o1. Record your greeting after the tone.
3. Release GREETING when you finish.
To review the greeting, press and release GREETING.
To return to the answerer's default greeting after you've recorded one, press GREETING and release it when you hear the tone, or press erase when the greeting is playing.

Press and release the SET button to review the current settings. To review the next or previous setting, press the NEXT or PREVIOUS button. The unit announces the current setting.

The toll saver is the final setting in the Rings to Answer menu. This feature allows you to know if you have new messages when calling the machine from a remote phone. If you have new messages, the unit will ring twice before answering. If you don’t, it will ring four times. This allows you to hang up before the machine answers so that you don’t have to pay toll charges.

If you have pulse service, you can temporarily change from pulse to tone service. After dialing the telephone number, press and release the TONE (*) button on the telephone. This allows access to phone services that require a tone, such as banking and long-distance services. After you hang up the handset, the telephone automatically returns to pulse service.

Press the FLASH button instead of using the hook switch to activate customer calling services such as call waiting or call transfer, which are provided by your local phone company.

Redial the last number you called by pressing the
REDIAL button after you get a dial tone.
NOTE:
The Redial feature holds in memory the last phone number you dialed (as many as 16 digits). If you pressed any numbers after dialing the phone number, (for example, when accessing a voice-menu system) those numbers also are redialed.
IMPORTANT:
In the event of a power outage, your phone will still be able to make and receive calls.
During the power outage, the answerer will not function.

CAUTION

Use this feature to make calls which require a sequence of numbers, for instance if you use a calling card for a frequently called long distance number. Basically, you dial each part of the sequence from memory. The following example shows how you can use chain dialing to make a call through a long distance service:

The MESSAGES counter gives you a numeric display of how many messages you have.

You can access your answerer from any touch-tone phone by entering your 3-digit security code (the default security code is 123, but you can change it.) Be aware that remote functions do not work with rotary or push-button pulse-dialing phones. You can cut out the wallet-size remote card near the back of the User’s
Guide so you know the touch-tone commands when you're picking up messages from another location.
To access your answerer:
1. Call your telephone number.
2. After you hear the beep that follows the greeting, enter your 3-digit security code. To bypass the greeting, you can enter your 3-digit security code any time while the greeting is playing.
3. The unit plays the remote menu after the correct security code has been entered. Menu selections can be made while the menu is playing.
NOTE:
The unit answers on the 10th ring when it is turned off or the memory is full. To access the answerer, enter the 3-digit security code after the beep. If memory is full, play messages and erase some of them to restore memory. If the answerer is off, press 2 to turn it on.
NOTE:
After the unit plays the remote menu, it will wait 20 seconds for a command, then disconnect.

• Did unit hang up? If you take no action for a period of time, it automatically hangs up.
• Unplug power cord from the electrical outlet and plug it back in to reset the answerer.
NOTE:
If the battery is not installed, this next step will erase all your messages and return the unit to the default settings.
• If that doesn’t work, unplug the power cord from the back of the unit and plug it back in.
This is a complete reset.
• Adjust volume control.
• Install a new 9-volt alkaline battery.
• You must play message for at least 5 seconds before pressing REVIEW button.

Se requiere un jack modular RJ11, que es el tipo de jack más común y puede parecerse a la ilustración aquí. Si Ud. no tiene un jack modular, llame a su compañía telefónica local para información sobre la instalación del jack requerido.

ARA INSTALAR LA BATERÍA
En caso de que haya un corte de corriente, una batería de 9 voltios (no incluída) le permite al contestador retener los mensajes almacenados en la memoria. Para instalar la batería:
1. Quite la cubierta del compartimento de la batería en la parte de abajo del aparato, destornillando el tornillo con la ayuda de un desarmador Phillips. Levante la puerta.
2. Conecte una batería alcalina nueva de 9 voltios (no incluída).
Los contactos de tamaño pequeño y grande en el gancho de la batería y en la batería misma se enchufan entre sí. Una vez enchufados, coloque la batería dentro del compartimento.
3. Vuelva a colocar la tapa del compartimento de la batería en su lugar y apriete el tornillo.

1. Conecte el cable espiral en el auricular. Conecte el otro extremo en el contacto al costado de la base.
2. Coloque el auricular sobre la base.
3. Coloque el selector de Tono/Pulso (“TONE/PULSE”) en “TONE” para la modalidad de discado de tono (touch-tone), o en “PULSE” para servicio de discado rotatorio. Si usted no sabe qué tipo de modalidad tiene, verifique con su compañía telefónica.
4. Conecte el cable de línea largo en el contacto marcado “LINE” en la parte trasera del teléfono. Conecte el otro extremo a un contacto de pared.
5. Conecte el extremo corto del cable de corriente en el contacto marcado “POWER
9V AC” en la parte trasera del contestador. Conecte el otro extremo a un contacto de corriente AC.
El aparato cuenta, emite 3 tonos, y está listo para ser programado o para contestar llamadas con el saludo y las programaciones pre-programadas de fábrica.

1. Gire el gancho del auricular 180
°
hasta que entre en su sitio con un chasquido. Usted necesita hacer esto para que auricular no se caiga de la base.
2. Conecte el cable espiral en el auricular. Conecte el otro extremo en el contacto al costado de la base.
3. Coloque el auricular sobre la base.
4. Cuidadosamente voltee el teléfono. Separe la placa para montaje de la pared y los dos pares de acanaladuras en la parte superior, oprimiendo las lengüetas hacia adentro. Jale la placa fuera del teléfono y gírela para que se vea como se muestra en el diagrama de abajo. Suavemente oprima la placa hacia adentro de los pares de acanaladuras en la parte inferior hasta que entre en su sitio con un chasquido.
5. Conecte el cable de línea corto dentro del contacto en la parte trasera del teléfono.
6. Alimente el cable de línea corto a través de las ranuras de manera que la base del teléfono esté plana y el teléfono esté listo para ser montado sobre la pared.

7. Conecte el otro extremo del cable de línea en un contacto de pared.
8. Coloque el selector de Tono/Pulso (“TONE/PULSE”) en “TONE” para la modalidad de discado de tono
(touch-tone), o en “PULSE” para servicio de discado rotatorio. Si usted no sabe qué tipo de modalidad tiene, verifique con su compañía telefónica.
9. Conecte el extremo corto del cable de corriente en el contacto marcado “POWER 9V AC” en la parte trasera del contestador. Conecte el otro extremo a un contacto de corriente AC. El aparato emite 3 tonos y está listo para programación o para contestar llamadas con el saludo y la programación de fábrica (default).
CUIDADO:
Solamente use el cable de corriente Thomson
5-2434A que fué empacado con este aparato. El uso de otros cables de corriente puede resultar en daño al aparato.
10. Deslice los agujeros para montaje de la base (en la parte de abajo del aparato) sobre los postes para montaje y deslice la base hacia abajo hasta que el teléfono esté colocado firmemente en su sitio.

NSTRUCCIONES IMPORTANTES PARA MOVER EL CONTESTADOR
:
Para mover el contestador a una localización diferente dentro de la casa, siga estas instrucciones:
1. Desconecte la línea telefónica.
2. Instale la batería, si no lo ha hecho todavía. Esto asegurará que sus mensajes no se pierdan. Vea “Para instalar la batería.”
3. Vaya al enchufe de pared y desconecte el cable de corriente. NO DESCONECTE EL
ENCHUFE DE CORRIENTE CONECTADO AL APARATO. Si lo hace, toda la memoria será borrada.
4. Mueva el aparato y el cable telefónico a la localización deseada.
5. Conecte el cable de corriente en un enchufe de pared.
6. El indicador de mensajes (“MESSAGES”) le indicará que los mensajes no han sido borrados.

ARA GRABAR EL SALUDO
Antes de usar su nuevo contestador, usted debe de grabar un saludo (el anuncio que la persona que llama escucha cuando su sistema de contestador contesta una llamada). Si usted no graba un saludo, las personas que llaman escucharán el saludo por omisión (preprogramado de fábrica) que dice, “After tone, record message” (“Después del tono, grabe su mensaje”).
Cuando grabe el saludo, usted debería estar como a 6 pulgadas del aparato. Elimine tanto ruido de fondo como le sea posible.
1. Prepare su saludo.
Ejemplo de un anuncio: Hola, habla (use su nombre aquí). No puedo contestar el teléfono en este
momento, pero por favor deje su nombre, número de teléfono y un mensaje breve después del tono, y yo le llamaré más tarde. Gracias.
2. Sostenga oprimido el botón de saludo (“GREETING”). El aparato anuncia, “Record greeting
after tone” (grabe el saludo después del tono), y muestra o1. Grabe su saludo después del tono.
3. Suelte el botón de saludo (“GREETING”) una vez que haya terminado.
Para revisar el saludo, oprima y suelte el botón “GREETING.”
Para regresar al saludo por omisión del contestador después de que usted ha grabado un saludo, oprima el botón “GREETING” y suéltelo cuando escuche el tono, u oprima el botón de borrar (“ERASE”) mientras se reproduce el saludo.

Esta función le permite revisar la hora actual, el número de timbres antes de que el contestador conteste la llamada, la duración de los mensajes entrantes, y el código de seguridad. El ahorrador de Cargos es la programación final del menú de Timbres para Contestar. Esta función le permite saber si usted tiene mensajes nuevos cuando usted llama a su contestador desde un teléfono remoto. Si usted tiene mensajes nuevos, el aparato timbrará dos veces antes de contestar. Si usted no tiene mensajes, timbrará cuatro veces. Esto le permite colgar antes de que la máquina conteste de manera que usted no tendrá que pagar cargos por la llamada.
NOTA:
El contador de mensajes muestra 00 para el ahorrador de cargos.

Usted puede tener acceso a su máquina contestadora desde cualquier teléfono que sea compatible con la modalidad de discado de tono, simplemente inscribiendo el código de seguridad de 3 dígitos (el código de seguridad programado de fábrica es 123, pero usted lo puede cambiar). Tenga en cuenta que las funciones remotas no sirven con modalidad de discado rotatorio o de pulso. Usted puede cortar la tarjeta de funciones remotas tamaño cartera que se encuentra cerca del reverso de la Guía del Usuario, para que usted pueda saber los comandos de tono cuando usted está recogiendo sus mensajes desde otra localización.
Para tener acceso a su contestador
1. Llame a su número telefónico.
2. Después de que usted escuche el tono que sigue al saludo, inscriba su código de seguridad de 3 dígitos.
Para saltarse el saludo, usted puede inscribir su código de 3 dígitos en cualquier momento mientras el saludo se reproduce.
3. El aparato reproduce el menú de control remoto después de que el código de seguridad correcto ha sido inscrito.

NOTA:
El aparato contesta al décimo timbre cuando está apagado o cuando la memoria está llena. Para tener acceso al contestador, inscriba el código de seguridad de 3 dígitos, después del tono.
Si la memoria está llena, reproduzca los mensajes y borre algunos de ellos para recuperar memoria. Si el contestador está apagado, oprima el 2 para encenderlo.
NOTA:
Después de que el aparato reproduce el menú de control remoto, esperará 20 segundos para recibir un comando, y después se desconectará.

UIDADO GENERAL DEL PRODUCTO
Para mantener su contestador funcionando bien y con buena apariencia, observe las siguientes pautas:
• Evite poner el teléfono cerca de calentadores (calefactores) de ambiente y dispositivos que generen interferencia eléctrica ejemplo, motores o lámparas fluorescentes).
• No lo exponga a la luz solar directa o a la humedad.
• No deje caer la extensión móvil y no maltrate el contestador.
• Limpie el teléfono con un trapo suave.
• Nunca use un agente de limpieza fuerte ni un polvo abrasivo, ya que esto dañará el acabado.
• Retenga el empaque original en caso de que necesite embarcar el contestador en el futuro.

• Cheque el gancho para colgar para asegurarse de que se levanta.
• Asegúrese de que el selector de modalidad de discado (TONO/PULSO) está colocado en la posición correcta.
• Cheque el nivel del volumen del timbre
(“RINGER VOLUME”).
• Podría tener demasiados teléfonos en una línea.
• Cheque las programaciones de volumen.
Volumen del auricular o altavoz muy bajo.
La luz y el tono palpitan cuando está marcando en modalidad de pulso.

Problema
No contesta, o contesta al décimo timbre.
Explicación/ Solución
• Asegúrese de que el contestador está encendido.
• La memoria está llena, borre algunos mensajes.
• Cheque las conecciones de corriente y de las líneas telefónicas.
Los mensajes entrantes están incompletos.
• ¿Alguna extensión del teléfono fué levantada?
• La persona que llamó dejó un mensaje que fué más largo que la duración de mensajes entrantes que usted programó.
• La memoria está llena.
No responde a los comandos de tono remotos.
• Debe usar un teléfono con modalidad de discado (touch-tone).
• Debe inscribir el código de seguridad correcto.
• ¿El aparato colgó? Si usted no lleva a cabo ninguna acción durante un período de tiempo, el aparato cuelga automaticamente.
El contestador no funciona.
No se oyen los mensajes, tono, etc.
• Desconecte el cable de corriente del contacto eléctrico y vuelva a conectarlo para re-programar el contestador.
NOTA:
Si la bateria no está instalada, este siguiente paso borrará todos sus mensajes y regresará el aparato a las programaciones de fábrica.
• Si eso no funciona, desconecte el cable de la parte trasera del aparato y conéctelo nuevamente. Esto constituye una re-programación completa.
• Ajuste el volumen de la bocina.
El aparato le anuncia que la batería está baja (“Battery Low”).
• Instale una batería alclaina de 9 voltios nueva.

Explicación/ Solución
• Usted tiene que reproducir el mansaje por lo menos durante 5 segundos antes de oprimir el botón para revisar (“REVIEW”).
• La memoria está llena. Borre mensajes.
El indicador de mensajes parpadea rapidamente.
La batería está buena, pero los mensajes se perdieron.
El saludo continúa reproduciéndose incluso después de que una extensión del teléfono se levanta.
• ¿Estaba el cable de corriente desconectado de la parte trasera del aparato?

ARANTÍA LIMITADA
Lo que cubre su garantía:
• Cualquier defecto en material o mano de obra.
