18. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside antenna is connected to the receiver, be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built up static charges. Section 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/

NFPA 70 provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes,and requirements for the grounding electrode. See Figure.

Connect the AC power cord into a live wall outlet.

If the plug of the AC power cord does not match your outlet, do not force it.

Reverse it and try again. This plug is polarized and only fits one way into the wall outlet and the back of the set.

Hold the Time Button down, and press the Hour Button, until the right hour time shows in the display.

PM indication lights up for PM time.

Remember to switch the Mode Switch to ALARM or AUTO position after listening, and the Auto Lamp will turn on, so that the buzzer alarm or CD music will wake you up at your preset time. Make sure the volume control is adjusted loud enough to wake you up.

5. Playing CD in programmed or random order

You can make a program of up to 16 tracks in the order you want them to be played.

1. Slide the Function Switch to CD position, and Mode

Switch to ON. Make sure the CD is stopped.

2. Press the Program Button. The letters “P1” will show and the Play/Program Lamp will flash.

3. Press or to select the tracks you want to program in the order you want.

4. Press the Program Button to confirm. The letters “P2” will show and the Play/Program Lamp will flash.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4. You can program up to 16 tracks (Display will show “P0” for program#10, and

“Pa”, “Pb” ... “Pf” for program#11-16).

6. Press to start program play. The Play/Program

Lamp will remain flashing.

To change the current program

Just create a new program following the Programming procedure.

To cancel Program Play

Press the Stop Button and the Program Lamp goes off.

Programmed memory will be lost

When the Function Switch is moved to the OFF or RADIO position, or the CD door is opened.

2. Random Play

To play the songs in random order

Press the CD Random Button, and the display will show some moving symbols like

“

... ... ” every 5 second. The set will play songs in random order.

Press to skip to the next random song.

To resume normal play

Press the CD Random button again.

Tune into the station you prefer using the Tuning Control. Adjust for the clearest sound.

Remember to switch the Mode Switch to ALARM or AUTO position after listening, and the Auto Lamp will turn on, so that the buzzer alarm or radio music will wake you up at your preset time. Make sure the volume control is adjusted loud enough to wake you up.

To improve broadcast reception

Fully stretch out the FM antenna for FM reception.

Reorient the player itself for AM reception. Or locate the set near a window.

To listen without disturbing others

Connect a headphone (optional - not included) into the Phones Jack at the back of the set. The speaker will automatically be silenced. Remember to unplug the headphones if you want the set to wake you up in the morning.

To use battery backup

Install a 9V battery for Clock backup, so that if your home power is momentarily off, you will not have to set up the time & alarm settings.

Note: The display will not show the time but the time will be kept in memory and will reappear when power is restored.

3. Press the Minute button for correct minute time. Release both buttons.

9. Snooze and Sleep functions

Just press the Snooze Button, the alarm or music will stop and come on after 9 minutes.

Make sure the disc is loaded in the compartment, or select any AM or FM station with the Band

Switch and Tuning Knob.

4. To shorten the desired playing time before sleep, hold the Sleep button and Minute Button (or, and the Hour

Button together) down together, the displayed playing time will count down rapidly. Release the Buttons when the desired time shows, so that the music will play and then stop automatically for less than 59 minutes (or 1 hour and 59 minutes).

5. To shut off the music before the time is up, press the

Snooze button.

Precautions

On safety

• As the laser beam used in the CD player section is harmful to the eyes, do not attempt to disassemble the casing. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.

•

Should any solid object or liquid fall into the player, unplug the player, and have it checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further.

On power sources

•

For battery backup, you may use a 9V battery (optional), so that you will not have to re-set the clock every time you disconnect the power.

•

The nameplate indicating operating voltage, power consumption, etc. is located at the bottom of the set.

On placement

•

Do not leave the player in a location near heat source, or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust or mechanical shock or vibration.

•

Do not place the player on an inclined or unstable place.

•

Do not place anything within 1 inch of the back of the cabinet. The ventilation holes must be unobstructed for the player to operate properly and prolong the life of its components.

•

Since a strong magnet is used for the speakers, keep personal credit cards using magnetic coding or springwound watches away from the player to prevent possible damage from the magnet.

On operation

•

If the player is brought directly from a cold to a warm location, or is placed in a very damp room, moisture may condense on the lens inside the CD player section. Should this occur, the player will not operate properly. In this case, remove the CD and wait about an hour for the moisture to evaporate.

•

This CD player is designed to be played on a stable no vibration position. If you bump the set during CD play, the music will stop or skip for a few seconds. This is normal for this type of player.

•

Notes on CDs

Precautions (continued)

Before playing, clean the CD with a cleaning cloth. Wipe the CD from the center out.

Cleaning the lens

If the lens becomes dirty, it may cause a skipping of sound during CD operation.

Clean with a commercially available lens cleaner blower or a cotton swab.

•

Do not use solvents such as benzene, thinner, commercially available cleaners or anti-static spray intended for vinyl LPs.

•

Do not expose the CD to direct sunlight or heat sources such as hot air ducts, nor leave it in a car parked in direct sunlight as there can be a considerable rise in temperature inside the car.

• Do not stick paper or sticker on the

CD, nor scratch the surface of the CD.

•

After playing, store the CD in its case.

If there is a scratch, dirt or fingerprints on the CD, it may cause tracking error.

Cleaning the cabinet

Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of abrasive pad, scouring powder, or solvent, such as alcohol or benzene.

Problem

The power is not on.

Troubleshooting

• Connect the AC power cord to a wall outlet securely. Make sure that outlet has power.

Unplug the headphones when listening through speakers.
