The voltage is indicated on the Specifications page. Never attempt to operate the TV on DC power. 6 OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT Connect digital audio from various types of equipment. Note: In standby mode, these ports do not work. 2 HDMI Input Connect a HDMI signal to HDMI IN. Or DVI(VIDEO)signal to HDMI/DVI port with DVI to HDMI cable. 7 RGB/DVI Audio Input Connect the audio from a PC or DTV. 8 RS-232C IN (CONTROL & SERVICE) PORT Connect to the RS-232C port on a PC. 9 Antenna Input Connect RF antenna to this jack. 10 PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) Card Slot (This feature is not available in all countries.) 11 S-Video Input Connect S-Video out from an S-VIDEO device. PLEASE SET IT UP CAREFULLY SO THE PRODUCT DOESN’T FALL OVER. ■ ■ ■ 1 2 1 Use the eye-bolts or TV brackets/bolts to fix the TV to the wall as shown in the picture. (If your TV has bolts in the eyebolts, loosen these bolts.) * Insert the eye-bolts or TV brackets/bolts and tighten them securely in the upper holes. 2 Secure the wall brackets with the bolts on the wall. Match the height of the bracket that is mounted on the wall. PREPARATION You should purchase necessary components to fix the TV to the wall on the market. Position the TV close to the wall to avoid the possibility of it falling when pushed. The instructions shown below are a safer way to set up the TV, which is to fix it to the wall, avoiding the possibility of it falling forwards if pulled. This will prevent the TV from falling forward and causing injury. This will also prevent the TV from damage. Ensure that children do not climb or hang from the TV. 3 3 Use a sturdy rope to tie the TV. It is safer to tie the rope so it becomes horizontal between the wall and the TV. ! NOTE G G G When moving the TV undo the cords first. Use a platform or cabinet strong and large enough to support the size and weight of the TV. To use the TV safely make sure that the height of the bracket on the wall and on the TV is the same. 7 PREPARATION BACK COVER FOR WIRE ARRANGEMENT ■ Image shown may differ from your TV. 1 Connect the cables as necessary. 2 Install the C A B L E M A N A G E M E N T C L I P as shown. CABLE MANAGEMENT CLIP CABLE MANAGEMENT CLIP How to remove the cable management clip Hold the C A B L E M A N A G E M E N T C L I P with both hands and pull it upward. For the 42PG69** model, press the center of the C A B L E M A N A G E M E N T C L I P and then lift it . 42PG69** 50PG69** Separate CABLE MANAGEMENT from TV by pressing two latches. ! NOTE G 8 Do not use the CABLE MANAGEMENT CLIP to lift the TV. - If the TV is dropped, you may be injured or the TV may be damaged. ■ ■ The TV can be installed in various ways such as on a wall or on a desktop etc. The TV is designed to be mounted horizontally. EARTHING Power Supply Ensure that you connect the earth wire to prevent possible electric shock. Do not try to earth the TV by connecting it to telephone wires, lightening rods or gas pipes. If 4:3 picture format is used for an extended period the fixed images on the sides of the screen may remain visible. Connecting with a RF cable ANT OUT EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT SETUP 16 S-VIDEO VIDEO L R AUDIO 1 ANT IN 2 OUTPUT SWITCH Wall Jack Antenna 1 Connect the A N T O U T socket of the VCR to the A N T E N N A I N socket on the TV. 2 Connect the antenna cable to the A N T I N socket of the VCR. 3 Press the P L A Y button on the VCR and match the appropriate programme between the TV and VCR for viewing. Connecting with a Euro Scart AUDIO Connect the Euro scart socket of the VCR to the A V 1 Euro scart socket on the TV. 2 Insert a video tape into the VCR and press PLAY on the VCR. (Refer to the VCR owner’s manual.) 3 Select A V 1 input source using the I N P U T button on the remote control. 4 If connected to A V 2 Euro scart socket, select A V 2 input source. 1 (R) AUDIO (L) AUDIO/ VIDEO ! NOTE EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT SETUP 1 Any Euro Scart cable used must be signal shielded. G Connecting with an RCA cable 1 V I D E O jacks between TV and Connect the A U D I O/V VCR. Match the jack colours (Video = yellow, Audio Left = white, and Audio Right = red) 2 Insert a video tape into the VCR and press PLAY on the VCR. NOTE G VIDEO OUTPUT SWITCH L R ANT IN ANT OUT If you have a mono VCR, connect the audio cable from the VCR to the A U D I O L / M O N O jack of the TV. 17 EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT SETUP Connecting with a S-Video cable 1 AUDIO 2 Connect the S-VIDEO output of the VCR to the S V I D E O input on the TV. The picture quality is improved; compared to normal composite (RCA cable) input. VIDEO EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT SETUP Insert a video tape into the VCR and press PLAY on the VCR. (Refer to the VCR owner’s manual.) 4 Select A V 3 input source using the I N P U T button on the remote control. L R OUTPUT SWITCH Connect the audio outputs of the VCR to the A U D I O input jacks on the TV. 3 S-VIDEO 1 ANT OUT 2 ! NOTE G If both S-VIDEO and VIDEO sockets have been connected to the S-VHS VCR simultaneously, only the S-VIDEO can be received. DIGITAL AUDIO OUT SETUP Sending the TV’s audio signal to external audio equipment via the Digital Audio Output (Optical) port. 1 Connect one end of an optical cable to the TV Digital Audio (Optical) Output port. 2 Connect the other end of the optical cable to the digital audio (optical) input on the audio equipment. 3 Set the “TV Speaker option - Off” in the AUDIO menu. (Gp .84). Refer to the external audio equipment instruction manual for operation. CAUTION G Do not look into the optical output port. Looking at the laser beam may damage your vision. 18 1 2 ANT IN OTHER A/V SOURCE SETUP Camcorder Video Game Set L R 1 1 V I D E O jacks between TV and external equipment. Match the jack colours. Connect the A U D I O/V (Video = yellow, Audio Left = white, and Audio Right = red) 2 Select A V 3 input source using the I N P U T button on the remote control. 3 Operate the corresponding external equipment. Refer to external equipment operating guide. EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT SETUP VIDEO 19 EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT SETUP PC SETUP This TV provides Plug and Play capability, meaning that the PC adjusts automatically to the TV's settings. The Auto AV source is recorded while 54 viewing the SCART Auto AV, but the Analog TV source is recorded while viewing the Analog TV source. When reserved recording is performed, even if the channel is set to the Analog TV, if the Scart Auto AV operates, the Auto AV source is recorded. When the programme switch key is pressed while recording the Analog TV source, the channel is switched to the Digital TV source. However, when the numeric key is pressed, it is not switched. The maximum schedule recording duration is 12 hours. The maximum number of schedule recording is 60 in the UK and 30 in the rest of the world. When Manual Recording, the default sound settings apply. When the recording time conflicts with that of existing recordings, the Collision message is displayed in a Popup window in the UK and recording is not registered in the rest of the world. SIMPLE (standard teletext) consists of a number of pages which are selected by directly entering the corresponding page number. TOP and FASTEXT are more modern methods allowing quick and easy selection of teletext information. SWITCH ON/OFF Press the TEXT button to switch to teletext. The initial page or last page viewed appears on the screen. Two page numbers, TV station name, date and time are displayed on the screen headline. The first page number indicates your selection, while the second shows the current page displayed. Press the T E X T or E X I T button to switch off teletext. The previous mode reappears. SIMPLE TEXT A Page selection 1 Enter the desired page number as a three digit number with the NUMBER buttons. The TV gives you access to digital teletext which is greatly improved in various aspects such as text, graphics etc. This digital teletext can access special digital teletext services and specific services which broadcast digital teletext. If the digital teletext service or the digital teletext only service is on, then Trick Play is not supported. The immediate recording feature is not supported in the digital teletext only service.
