1. Download and Install eBookMan Desktop Manager from http://www.franklin.com/ebookman/download_software.asp
2. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the program.

Install Batteries in Your eBookMan Device
1.
Push the tab on the battery cover, snap the battery cover open and lift it off.
2. Insert two AAA batteries following the +/- markings in the battery compartment.
3.
Replace the battery cover. The unit powers on, and the tour begins.
4.
Tap the introductory sentence in the language you want to view the tour.

Connect Your eBookMan Device to Your PC
1. Plug the cable or cradle into your PC.
2. Connect eBookMan to the cable or cradle.

Start the Desktop Manager on Your PC
1. Open the Internet connection on your PC.
2. Turn your eBookMan device on.
3. Double click on your PC Desktop to start the Desktop Manager.
The Connection configuration dialog box appears.
4. Set the Connection Configuration.
A) Click the arrow to display the list of connections.
B) Select the port you want.
C) Click OK to save the changes.

Synchronize the eBookMan Operating
System and Core Applications with
Your eBookMan Device
1. Verify that your eBookMan is properly connected and turned on.
2. Click OK and follow the instructions in the series of dialog boxes that appear.
A) Click INTERNET to retrieve files from the Franklin website.
V SYNCHRONIZE THE eBOOKMAN OPERATING SYSTEM…
B) Click OK to unpack the eBookMan content.
The Desktop Manager connects to www.franklin.com and authenticates your eBookMan device.
C) Click Yes to start synchronization.
If your eBookMan device requires a firmware update, a warning dialog box appears. Click OK.
If no update is necessary, a status dialog box appears.
V SYNCHRONIZE THE eBOOKMAN OPERATING SYSTEM…
The Desktop Manager sends the OS and applications to eBookMan.
The status changes as the Desktop Manager installs the content onto eBookMan.
eBookMan turns off and on. The picture on your unit changes to indicate the eBookMan is connected to the Desktop Manager, and the Desktop Manager sends files to eBookMan.
D) Click OK when synchronization is successfully completed.
During synchronization, you may see these graphics on the eBookMan screen: eBookMan is communicating with your PC.
eBookMan is busy.
eBookMan is connected to a PC, the Desktop Manager is running and detects eBookMan.
Synchronization is not complete.
eBookMan is connected to a PC but the Desktop Manager is not running.

Calibrate Your eBookMan Device
1. Disconnect eBookMan from your PC.
The calibration screen appears after a few seconds.
2. Using the stylus, tap the intersection of the crosshairs to calibrate.
When the screen is calibrated, the message, “Please set the date and time” appears on the screen. Using the stylus, tap OK. The My eBookMan ® screen appears.

Set the Date and Time on Your eBookMan Device
1. Tap next to Select Date.
The Select Date screen appears.
2. Tap or to select the year.
3. Tap the month and day.
4. Tap Select to save changes and return to My eBookMan ® .
5. Tap and next to Select Time to change the hour and minute.
6. Tap to toggle between AM and PM.
7. Tap Done to go to the Launcher.

Register Your eBookMan
The Desktop Manager enables you to register your device through the
Internet. You must register to download any free content that comes with your eBookMan. You also can get samples of ebooks, music and audiobooks.
To register from the Desktop Manager, follow these steps.
1. Open your Internet connection on your PC.
2. Connect eBookMan to your PC.
3. Turn on your eBookMan device.
4. Start the Desktop Manager.
5. Click Web Register.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen to create a Franklin account, register and download content.
Note: Always write your password down and keep it in a safe place.
You must enter your password each time you visit your Library of titles and content at Franklin’s Web site.
