4 Processor Installation Notes

Note: Make sure your chassis supports the Intel ® Pentium ® 4 processor. Insert four standoffs (A) into the four holes below the processor socket. Install the motherboard into the chassis following the motherboard manufacturer’s installation instructions. Using the screws provided by the chassis manufacturer, secure the retention mechanisms (B) into the four standoffs (A) below the processor.

Open the socket handle (C). Install the processor and close the socket handle (C). Apply all of the thermal interface material to the top of the processor (D).

Align the heatsink base with the retention mechanisms and place it on the processor. The heatsink is symetrical. Starting with the center tab (F), install the clips (E) to the retention mechanism tabs (F, G, and H). Connect the processor fan cable connector (J) to the motherboard header.
