temperature is important because changes in temperature, either higher or lower, can mean the start of an illness. The digital ear thermometer is fast and effective.

• Why measure in the ear?

Ear temperature reflects the body’s core temperature, since the eardrum shares blood supply with the hypothalamus. Changes in the body temperature are usually seen sooner in the ear than other parts of the body.

Instructions for Use

Always make sure the lens in the ear thermometer is clean.

The thermometer will automatically shut off if idle more than 1 minute to the battery life.

The screen will display the date, time and room temperature when Date/Time is set.

-See the Setting the Clock below.

How to take ear temperature?

It is recommended that you measure 3 times with the same ear.

1 Use under stable ambient (room) temperature.

2 Keep the ear canal as clean as possible.

3 Aim the probe to the tympanic membrane as shown in the picture below.

4 Put the probe as close as possible to the tympanic membrane. 8

NOTE 1: For children under 1 year old, we recommend you consult your doctor about his or her recommendation as to how to take your child's temperature.

NOTE 2: To avoid the risk of cross contamination or inaccurate reading, please clean the probe according to the “Care and Cleaning” section after each use. If the ear probe or the ear canal is not clean, this could cause the thermometer to get an incorrect temperature reading, such as a lower temperature reading.

How to take surface/ ambient temperature?

DO NOT SUBMERGE THE THERMOMETER OR PROBE INTO ANY LIQUIDS. To gauge a liquid temperature, hold the probe above the liquid, do not put it in the liquid.

Suggested Temperature for baby milk bottle: 96.8°F (36°C) ~ 100.4°F (38°C)

Suggested Temperature of baby bath water: 90°F (32°C) ~ 96.8°F (36°C)

NOTE: Do not put your baby into a tub when the water is still running. (the water temperature could change) Remember babies have much more sensitive skin than adults.

Returning to Ear Temperature Mode

Press and hold the button, then press the “ ” button one time and release the button. You will hear 2 beeps and see the icon appear.

You must set the date and time in order for the room temperature function to work in rest mode and for the memory readings to reflect when they were taken.

Note: Your thermometer has both military time (24 hour) and standard 12 hour time settings.

If by any chance you press the incorrect buttons and your unit changes to the military time, you can always change it back to the standard 12 hour time. Simply, press and hold button until you see the starts to flash, immediately press the button once for the 24 military or press it again for the 12 hour mode.

Press (bottom blue button) and keep pressing until (small letters on right side of unit) flashes.

Press " " (top blue button) to stop from flashing.

Press (bottom blue button) and release you will see "hour" flash.

Press " " to change the number to get it to the correct hour.

Press to move to minutes.

Press " " to get to correct minutes.

Press again, and you will be moved to the year.

Press " " to get to correct year, if it is not already correct.

Press again, and you will be moved to the month.

Press " " to get to the correct month.

Press , again, and you will be moved to the day.

Press " " to change number to the correct day.

Battery Replacement

When you see the flashing battery symbol, it is time to change the battery. a. To open the battery cover insert a pointed object, such as a pen, into battery cover pick hole while at the same time using your thumb to push the battery cover out.

b. Hold the device and flip the battery out with a small screwdriver or pointed device. c. Insert the new battery (lithium CR2032) under the metal hook on the left side and press the right side of the battery down until you hear a click. d. Make sure the positive (+) side is facing up and the negative (-) side is facing down. e. Replace the battery cover.

WARNING: Keep the battery away from children and dispose of properly.

Normal Body Temperature

Normal body temperature is a range that will fluctuate throughout the day. The normal range for adult body temperature is typically considered to be 97 to 100°F (or 36.1 to 37.8° C). The body temperature varies by age, person, gender, time of day, position of body, and is usually highest in the evening. It can be affected by activity, emotion, clothing, medications, ambient conditions, hormones and other factors. Normal temperature will also be different depending on the place on the body at which the temperature is taken, with rectal or ear temperature readings generally being higher than oral temperature readings, and armpit temperature readings generally lower than oral readings.

Functions

Clock

Before using the thermometer set the clock with the current date and time. This enables the temperature readings in memory to reflect when they were taken and allows the room temperature to be displayed in rest mode. See “Room Temperature” below.

Mode

When the thermometer is at rest (power off mode) the room temperature will be shown on the screen (look for the icon in the lower right hand corner) ONLY if you have set the time and date. If you have not set the time and date then the screen will remain blank when not in use. The room temperature may not reflect a true reading if placed in direct sunlight, near a heater/fan/air conditioner or close to an item or place that would affect the reading. The temperature will update every 15 minutes.

Ear temperature mode is used to obtain your body's core temperature. The product and information contained herein are not meant to be a substitute for the advice provided by a medical professional. This product is intended for home use only.

The Surface Scan mode is used to get the temperature of surfaces. For example, hold it above the bath water, hold it next to a milk bottle, etc. It will help you to determine if the object’s temperature is suitable.

Fever Alarm

If the thermometer detects an ear reading temperature ≥99.5°F

(37.5°C), there will be a long beep followed by three short beeps.

In addition the lighted bar above the SCAN button will show red.

For temperatures <99.5°F (37.5°C), the lighted bar will show green.

Memory

There are a total of 9 sets of memory that the thermometer will store. Each temperature is recorded along with the time and date

(as long as they have been set).

Press the button, after you hear the 2 beeps, press the again and the last temperature is displayed. You will see the icon above the flashing time/date. Press the button for 1 second*, you will see the memory number (1-9), release the button and the recorded temperature will appear.

NOTE: The reading that is stored is the last reading taken before going into rest mode. Example: If 3 readings are taken one after the other, only the last (3 rd

) reading will be held in memory. If the thermometer is allowed to go to rest mode between each reading all will be stored in memory.

*Press for 1 second only, if you press for more than 3 seconds the screen will return to SET mode.

In the power off mode, you will get to see only the date, time and room temperature as shown on picture. Press and hold the “Scan” button, then immediately press and release the button. After 3 seconds the F icon will be switched to

C.

NOTE: please give about 1 minute to complete power off mode.

Trouble Shooting

Care and Cleaning

The ear probe is the most delicate part of the thermometer. Use extreme care when cleaning to avoid damage.

After measurement, please apply a 70% alcohol solution to a cotton swab for best results. Please keep the protective cap closed and the probe away from any liquids or direct sunlight. Do not submerge your thermometer or the probe into liquids and wait 20 minutes after cleaning prior to taking measurement again.

If it becomes too wet, you will be unable to take a temperature until it dries.

Please store the thermometer at room temperature.

The thermometer is not waterproof, do not hold it under the faucet or submerge in water.

Take care not to hold the thermometer too long when taking a temperature.

The heat from your hand may affect the result.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Use of this product is not meant to be a substitute for your physician. You should not use this product to diagnose or treat any health problems or illnesses without consulting your doctor. Please consult your doctor with any questions or concerns you might have regarding your health or condition.

2. Do not use this product for any purpose other than ear and room/surface measurement as described in these instructions.

3. Do not use if the thermometer appears damaged. Do not disassemble or attempt to repair yourself.

Adult supervision is required for use of this product. Store away from children’s reach.

4. This Ear thermometer needs regular maintenance and cleaning.

You can do this regular maintenance by using a soft dry cloth or cleaning liquid especially made for plastic housing, and wipe the outside of the product gently excluding the probe (See Care and

Cleaning, above for instructions on how to clean the probe). Do not use any other liquid to clean the product, including benzene material.

This Thermometer (“Product”), excluding the battery, is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 2 years from the original purchase date under normal household use.

If the Product does not work properly because of defects in material or workmanship during that period, Samsung America will, at its option, repair or replace the Product with the same or a comparable model (excluding shipping and insurance charges). Purchase receipt or other proof of date of original purchase is required before warranty performance. This warranty only extends to the original retail purchaser, and does not apply to any clinical or commercial applications. Instrucciones de uso

Siempre asegúrese de que el lente del termómetro para medir la temperatura en el oído esté limpio.

El termómetro se apagará automáticamente si no se usa por más de 1 minuto a fin de prolongar la duración de la batería.

Cómo tomar la temperatura de superficie/ambiente

NO SUMERJA EL TERMÓMETRO NI LA SONDA EN NINGÚN LÍQUIDO. Para medir la temperatura de un líquido, sostenga la sonda sobre el líquido, no la sumerja en el líquido.

Temperatura sugerida para la mamadera del bebé: 96.8°F (36°C) ~ 100.4°F (38°C)

Temperatura sugerida para el agua del baño del bebé: 90°F (32°C) ~ 96.8°F (36°C)

NOTE: No meta a su bebé en la bañera cuando el agua este corriendo (la temperatura del agua puede cambiar) Recuerde que la piel de los bebés es mucho más sensitiva que la de los adultos.

Presione y mantenga presionado el botón , luego presione el botón “ ” (Explorar) una vez y suelte el botón . Escuchará 2 pitidos y verá aparecer el ícono .

Debe configurar la fecha y la hora para que la función de temperatura ambiente opere en el modo de descanso y para que las lecturas de la memoria indiquen cuándo fueron tomadas.

Nota: Su termómetro tiene el formato de hora estándar de 12 horas y el de 24 horas

(hora militar).

Si por error presiona los botones incorrectos y su unidad cambia al formato de 24 horas, siempre es posible volver al formato estándar de 12 horas. Simplemente, presione y mantenga presionado el botón hasta que vea el ícono destellando, inmediatamente presione el botón una vez para el formato de 24 horas (militar) o presione nuevamente para el formato de 12 horas.

Presione (botón inferior azul) y manténgalo presionado hasta que (letras pequeñas sobre el lado derecho de la unidad) destelle.

Reemplazo de la batería

Cuando vea que el símbolo de batería destella, es momento de cambiarla . a.

Para abrir la tapa de la batería inserte un objeto puntiagudo, como una lapicera, en el agujero de la tapa, mientras usa el dedo pulgar para empujar hacia fuera la tapa de la batería

Sostenga el dispositivo y con un pequeño destornillador o dispositivo puntiagudo voltee la batería para retirarla

Inserte la nueva batería (litio CR2032) bajo el gancho metálico ubicado a la izquierda y presione el d. lado derecho de la batería hacia abajo hasta escuchar un clic

Asegúrese de que el lado positivo (+) esté hacia arriba y el negativo (-) hacia abajo

. e. Vuelva a colocar la tapa de la batería .

Temperatura corporal normal

El rango de la temperatura corporal normal experimenta fluctuaciones a través del día. Normalmente, se considera que el rango normal de temperatura corporal para un adulto es de 36.1 a 37.8º C (o de 97 a

100 º F). La temperatura corporal varía según la edad, la persona, el sexo, la hora del día y la posición del cuerpo, y por lo general es más elevada por la noche. De igual manera, puede sufrir variaciones debido a la actividad, el estado de ánimo, la vestimenta, los medicamentos, las condiciones ambientales, las hormonas y otros factores. La temperatura normal será también diferente dependiendo del lugar del cuerpo donde se realiza la medición. Las lecturas de la temperatura rectal o en el oído son en general más altas que las de la temperatura oral, y las de la temperatura axilar son en general más bajas que las de la temperatura oral.

La edad es un factor que afecta dichas variaciones:

Antes de usar el termómetro, configure el reloj con la fecha y la hora actuales. Esto permite ver la fecha y la hora en que se tomaron las lecturas de temperatura que están en la memoria y la temperatura ambiente en modo de descanso. Consulte

Cuando el termómetro no esté en uso (modo apagado) la temperatura ambiente aparecerá en la pantalla (busque el ícono en la esquina inferior derecha) SÓLO si ha configurado la fecha y la hora. Si no ha configurado la fecha y la hora, la pantalla permanecerá apagada cuando no esté en uso. La temperatura ambiente puede no reflejar una lectura correcta si el termómetro se coloca al sol, cerca de un calentador, ventilador o aire acondicionado o cerca de un objeto o lugar que afecte la lectura.

La temperatura se actualizará cada 15 minutos.

El modo de temperatura en el oído se utiliza para obtener la temperatura corporal interna. El producto y la información que aquí se presentan no pretenden sustituir el consejo que brinda un profesional médico. Este producto está diseñado sólo para uso doméstico.

El modo de exploración de superficie se usa para tomar la temperatura de las superficies. Por ejemplo, sosténgalo sobre el agua de la bañera, junto a una mamadera, etc. Le ayudará a determinar si la temperatura del objeto es adecuada.

Alarma de fiebre

Si el termómetro detecta una lectura de temperatura elevada o iguales a 37.5° C (99.5° F), emitirá un pitido largo, seguido de tres cortos. Además, la barra iluminada que se encuentra encima del botón “SCAN” (Explorar) se verá roja. Para temperaturas bajas a

37.5° C (99.5° F), la barra iluminada se verá verde.

Hay un total de 9 configuraciones de memoria que el termómetro almacenará. Cada temperatura se registra junto con la fecha y la hora (en tanto las haya configurado).

Presione el botón . Después de escuchar los 2 pitidos, presione nuevamente el botón y se mostrará la última temperatura. Verá el ícono arriba de la fecha/hora destellante. Presione el botón durante 1 segundo*, verá el número de memoria (1-9), suelte el botón y aparecerá la temperatura registrada.

NOTA: La lectura que se almacena es la última lectura que se haya tomado antes de pasar al modo de descanso. Por ejemplo, si se toman 3 lecturas consecutivas, sólo la última (tercera) quedará registrada en la memoria. Si se permite que el termómetro pase a modo de descanso entre cada lectura, todas quedarán almacenadas en la memoria.

* Presione sólo durante 1 segundo, si presiona durante más de 3 segundos la pantalla volverá al modo SET (Configurar).

En el modo apagado la pantalla mostrara la fecha, la hora y la temperatura ambiente tal y como lo muestra la fotografía.

Presione y mantenga presionado el botón “Scan” (explorar) e inmediatamente presione y suelte el botón . Luego de 3 segundos el ícono F cambiará a C.

NOTA: Espere aproximadamente 1 minuto para que se complete el modo apagado.

Cuidado y limpieza

La sonda que se inserta en el oído es la parte más delicada del termómetro. Tenga sumo cuidado cuando la limpie para evitar daños.

Después de cada uso, aplique una solución de alcohol al 70% con un hisopo de algodón para lograr una mejor limpieza. Mantenga la cubierta protectora cerrada y la sonda lejos de todo líquido y protegida de la luz solar directa. No sumerja el termómetro o la sonda en líquidos y espere 20 minutos después de la limpieza antes de tomar mediciones nuevamente. Si se moja demasiado no podrá tomar un registro de temperatura hasta que se seque.

Por favor guarde el termómetro a temperatura ambiente

El termómetro no es sumergible. No lo coloque bajo el grifo ni lo sumerja en agua.

Tenga cuidado de no sujetar el termómetro demasiado tiempo cuando tome una temperatura.

El calor de sus manos podría afectar el resultado.
