Application Note Topic: Application Note ID: HABH0618080 Vizia RF+™, Wayne-Dalton and HomeLink® integration Version number: 1.0 This Application note will outline how to integrate Wayne Dalton with Z-Wave enabled devices which will enhance energy management and security in the home. Date: 6/18/08 If installing Wayne Dalton devices with a Vizia RF network it is best to use Leviton zone controllers as your 4 button controller device. (VRCZ4-1LX) Author: Ben Hamlitsch Wayne Dalton devices do not communicate the same scene configuration commands as our VRCS4 scene controllers. The status LED’s on the scene controller are inaccurately displayed. This results in a double tap of the scene button before the scene is activated properly. Additionally any devices offered by Wayne Dalton may not be able to understand scene commands from our scene controllers. Product Line: Vizia RF+ For these reasons we recommend Leviton 4 button zone controller VRCZ4 which uses basic set, get commands understood and used by Wayne Daltons Gateway Controller and devices. Product: Primary Remote Wireless Gateway Key fob Remote HomeLink Part Numbers Affected: VRCPG-0SG WDHA-12R (WD) 3150R (WD) Our zone controller may also be setup to turn ON/OFF scenes. (Note: as mentioned above products by Wayne Dalton may not understand scene commands. In these cases program your controller only as a Area ON/OFF) Our zone controller has a toggle on/off style operation as a result there is no double tap in order for the Area or scene to activate. Simply Press the Left side of the toggle button to turn the Area or scene ON or toggle the left side of the button to turn the Area or scene OFF regardless of the status. This operation gives a good user experience when integrating with Wayne Dalton products. When using a Wayne Dalton gateway you will need to setup your zone controller to mirror the same scene or zone activation as the gateway scene button in order for your scenes or zones to synchronize correctly. Example: Wayne Dalton Gateway: Scene Button 1 • Garage Lights 100% • Hall light 100% • Kitchen lights 75% Example: VRCZ4 Zone controller: First, create an Area. Add garage lights, hall lights and kitchen lights to Area “Come Home”.
