Introduction
ID station can be used in combination with the Sony UPX-C300
camera. The Sony UPX-C300 passport photo system is end-of-life
since summer 2010. A lot of these systems are still in use today.
Customers using this product can keep using their camera by
connecting the C300 camera to the ID station or ID station pro.
This tutorial explains how.
Preparation
ID station is set in Wireless mode in the factory. When you switch to a C300
camera you need to change this setting!
Start the Configuration tool (you need to enter the EXPERT mode to access the
Config tool!) and select the Scan Folder settings:

How To: Use the Sony C300 camera
1. Set the input mode to “USB cable to Camera (Sony C200/C300)“.
2. Click on Browse to set the Folder to Scan to the internal memory of the
C300 camera. Usually D:\DCIM\100UPXID. Connect the C300 camera to
the ID station using the USB cable.Follow the procedure for connecting
the C300 camera using the USB cable:
3. Switch the camera OFF
4. Press both PRINT and CAPTURE at the same time and keep them
pressed
5. Switch the camera ON (keep the print and capture buttons pressed)
6. Keep the print and capture buttons pressed until the menu pops up.
(there’s a sound coming from the ID station)
7. Now click on Browse. The camera will be available as drive letter D: or E:
Select the appropriate drive letter, select DCIM and finally the 100UPXID
folder. Now you have set the ID station to always look for images in this
folder.
8. Set the auto rotate function to “Right” (ClockWise). The C300 camera
saves the images rotated, so we have to always rotate them back before
showing them on the ID station.
9. You may choose to work in ‘Classic mode” (as of version 6.4) which
shows up to 12 previews on screen instead of 2 large previews.
10. Enable the “Delete files in Folder” is you want to delete all captured from
the camera every time they have been copied to the ID station. This
keeps the process of importing images from the camera fast.
Save and close the Config tool.

How To: Use the Sony C300 camera
Step 1 : Capture images
Capture images with the C300 camera as usual. This part of the “ID photo
process” remains exactly the same. Don’t try to fit the customer’s face in the
overlay on the camera. Just point and shoot and let ID station handle the
cropping.
In fact, it’s better to take the pictures as shown above. Don’t zoom in too much
as it will hinder the auto-cropping function of ID station.
Capture as many images as you like, even serve multiple customers, one after
another. Once you have finished taking the pictures, go to step 2.
Step 2 : Import the captured images from the camera
Connect the USB cable to the C300 camera. The USB cable connector of the Sony C300
camera is next to the DC power supply connector and external flash connector:
You do not need to
unplug the USB cable
every time. If you like the
camera may remain
connected to the ID
station at all times.

Now follow this procedure to allow the images from the camera to be imported
into ID station:
a. Switch the camera OFF
b. Press both PRINT and CAPTURE at the same time and keep them
pressed while switching on the camera
c. Keep the print and capture buttons pressed until the menu pops
up. (there’s a sound coming from the ID station)
Now click on the Capture button to start reading the images from the camera.
All captured images will be shown:
Select one by clicking on it. The ID station software will process that image and
automatically turn it into a perfect ID photo.
To start capturing images of the next customer simply switch OFF and On the
camera and it will return to its original state for taking pictures.

Troubleshooting
1. The C200 camera is not detected when I plug in the USB cable
- Make sure you have followed the procedure to enable the USB
mode:
1. Switch the camera OFF
2. Press both PRINT and CAPTURE at the same time and keep
them pressed
3. Switch the camera ON. Keep PRINT and CAPTURE pressed
until menu starts
Check if the USB cable is properly connected to both camera
and ID station.
- Check if the camera is switched ON.
2. All images are rotated left when I see the previews
- The Rotate option isn’t set properly. See the Preparation on
page 1 of this manual.
3. When I click on the Read Camera button I get an error message ”Scan
Folder does not exist”
 Check if the camera is connected using the USB cable
 Check if the camera is ON
 Check if the ScanFolder settings are OK. The folder should be set to
the cameras memory : A properly connected camera will be
available as a “removable drive” on the ID station’s computer.
Usually D:\DCIM\100UPXID or E:\DCIM\100UPXID .
4. When I click on the Read Camera button the preview screen is empty
- This will happen when there are no images in the camera. If you
have set the “delete files” option the camera’s memory will be
emptied after the images are imported into ID station.
