Frequently asked questions

The spread pattern of the spreader can be adjusted by changing the baffle settings. The internal baffles move the spread pattern to the right or left, while the external baffles block spreading to the right or left side. For a centered spread pattern, all three baffles should be up. To spread behind the truck and to the left, the right hand baffles should be down, and the left hand baffles should be up. To spread behind the truck and to the right, the right hand baffles should be up, and the left hand baffles should be down. For a windrow, the right hand baffles and all three baffles should be down, while the left hand baffles should be down.

The hydraulic system of the spreader should be maintained by keeping the reservoir three fourths (3/4) full with clean, high-grade, non-foaming hydraulic oil. The recommended viscosity for the oil is 100-200 SSU. The operating temperature of the hydraulic system should be limited to 180°F. The filter cartridge should be replaced at least twice a year.

The spreader should be operated with caution. It is important to be aware of the potential hazards associated with operating the spreader, such as the spinning blades. The operator should always wear eye protection when outside the truck cab while the spreader is running. The operator should also make sure that no one is near the rear of the unit or inside the unit before starting the engine or engaging the conveyor.
