Gardena, CA- Zojirushi will introduce the stylishly advanced Induction Heating Pressure
Rice Cooker and Warmer (NP-NVC10/18) this fall. The IH Pressure leads the
company’s rice cooker line with an array of technological features and conveniences
that sets the model apart from its predecessors. Artificial intelligence, automatic
pressure and a platinum-infused non-stick inner cooking pan represent significant
advances that produce unparalleled quality and ease of use. The IH Pressure will be
available in two sizes (5.5 cup and 10 cup), with an MSRP of $816 and $851,
respectively. The IH Pressure is available now.
Pressure and Induction Heating (IH)
The combination of pressure and induction heating technologies equals rice cooked to
perfection. This rice cooker automatically selects from one of three pressure levels
based on the menu chosen. Applying pressure while cooking helps convert the rigid
beta starch into alpha starch, making the rice softer and easier to digest. Rice cooked
under pressure has also been found to stay softer for a longer period of time. Induction
heating is an immediate and precise way of cooking. A system of coils in the base of
the cooker creates a magnetic field. When the inner cooking pan is placed in this field
and the cooking cycle begins, the magnetic field instantly generates the heat inside the
inner cooking pan to cook the rice.
Fuzzy Logic and Artificial Intelligence
In the IH Pressure, Zojirushi’s advanced fuzzy logic technology is now paired with
Artificial Intelligence (AI), a technological introduction that allows the rice cooker to
‘learn’ from previous usage to adjust the cooking cycle to generate superior cooking
The AI technology addresses seasonal water and room temperature
differences to maintain rice texture and consistency. This is achieved through two
embedded thermometers monitoring exterior temperature and inner cooking pan
temperature to collect data and aid in the cooking and warming processes. This applied
memory serves the IH Pressure after years of use, never compromising the unit’s initial
consistency and results.
Platinum Infused
Zojirushi has introduced platinum micro-particles into the nonstick coating of the inner
cooking pan, to further enhance and support a superior cooking result. Zojirushi’s
industry-leading research has established that platinum alkalizes water upon contact.

Alkaline water breaks down protein on the surface of the rice grain, allowing water to
more easily penetrate the rice grain. This enhanced gelatinization releases the
sweetness of rice, enhancing the flavor experience.
Zojirushi strives to improve not just the end result of the rice cooking process, but also
the ease-of-use and versatility in each and every product. The IH Pressure features
many settings that help simplify and improve the cooking process. The IH Pressure
features cook settings for white rice (regular, soft, firm), umami, mixed, sushi/sweet,
porridge, brown, GABA brown, steam-reduce, scorch, rinse-free and quick cooking.
Every texture and flavor is a button touch away.
Steam-Reduce Setting - This feature reduces steam up to 50% from the Regular
setting, protecting kitchen cabinets from warping due the released moisture. This
produces a rice texture that is slightly firmer than rice cooked in the Regular
Scorch Setting - The Scorch Setting lightly toasts the bottom layer of rice for a
crispier texture. For best flavor and results, rice cooked to this texture should be
consumed immediately.
Umami - The ‘fifth flavor’, Umami is best described as savory, and is the
Japanese word for ‘good flavor’. This setting soaks the rice a bit longer before
cooking than in the regular white setting. The extended soaking time slowly
releases the sugar contained within the rice, into the surrounding water. Once
cooking begins, these sugars reattach themselves to the surface of the rice grain,
enhancing the sweetness of the rice. The Umami setting also extends the
steaming time at the end of the cooking price, enhancing the texture of the rice
GABA Brown - GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is an amino acid that is said to
lower stress and blood pressure, and improve kidney function. The GABA Brown
Setting activates brown rice by maintaining the temperature inside the pan at
104°F for up to 2 hours. The activation increases the GABA nutrient in the brown
rice to 150% over non-activated brown rice.
Keep Warm - The IH Pressure provides a wide range of warming settings to
maintain rice temperature and consistency after cooking. The Automatic Keep
Warm setting immediately sets the rice cooker to Regular Keep Warm once
cooking completes. This will maintain optimal keep warm temperature for up to
12 hours. The Extended Keep Warm setting keeps the inner pan temperature at
a lower temperature than Automatic Keep Warm, to prevent drying and yellowing
of rice. This setting can be used for up to 24 hours. The Reheat function allows
for rice to be reheated to the temperature achieved just after cooking. This

function is used to attain serving temperature after the rice has been in the
Automatic or Extended Keep Warm setting.
The IH Pressure boasts an array of features that aid and enhance the cooking
experience and the end result, a delicious serving of rice, cooked to perfection. These

Easy Clean-Up - The IH Pressure’s platinum infused inner cooking pan is
nonstick for easy clean up, the inner stainless lid is detachable and washable,
and the stainless steel outer surface is clear-coated to repel dust, oil and

An inner filter was included on the inner lid to prevent food particles from being
stuck inside the pressure system. Zojirushi has ensured the safety of the
pressure technology with a pressure control valve, a safety valve to release
excess pressure, a pressure indicator, and whistle that sounds when the valves
are clogged or need cleaning.
