EWP is a feature designed to protect the K-1700-3 phone from the elements, such as rain, snow, and humidity. EWP products feature foam rubber gaskets and boots, sealed connections, gel-filled butt connectors, as well as urethane or thermal plastic potted circuit boards with internally sealed, field-adjustable trim pots and DIP switches for easy on-site programming.

The K-1700-3 phone can be programmed using a standard Touch Tone phone. The programming process involves setting the DIP switches on the rear of the phone.
