Sony Presents the World’s First LCD TV with Motionflow 200Hz Technology
New Full HD BRAVIA Z4500 series encompasses industry-leading BRAVIA technologies for
the best in motion clarity and detail
Hong Kong, November 26, 2008 − Sony Corporation of Hong Kong Limited today unveiled its
high-performance BRAVIA Z4500 series, a new addition to Sony’s extensive range of BRAVIA
Full HD LCD TVs. The world’s first LCD TV with Motionflow 200Hz technology, the BRAVIA
Z4500 series empowers users to enjoy the ultimate in motion clarity and detail, especially for fast
action-packed sports programmes, and entertainment like movies and PlayStation®3 games.
In addition to Motionflow 200Hz, the BRAVIA Z4500 series sets new standards in image realism
and Full HD entertainment with a full suite of exclusive BRAVIA technologies, including the
BRAVIA Engine 2 and 24P True Cinema feature.
“Sony endeavours to provide the most cutting-edge technology to enhance home entertainment in
every way,” said Mr. Koichi Tsunematsu, Division Managing Director, Hong Kong Marketing
Company, Sony Corporation of Hong Kong Limited. “We are very excited to present the world’s
first LCD TV with Motionflow 200Hz technology – the BRAVIA Z4500 series, which offers a
perfect viewing experience with the best motion clarity.”
Sony’s unique Motionflow 200Hz technology enables display of fast image movements with total
precision, smoothness and stability by multiplying the frame rate by four times per second. Using
sophisticated algorithms, the Motionflow 200Hz system calculates three additional frames for every
original, upping the frame rate from 50 to 200 per second. Moreover, a complementary image
enhancement technology ‘IB Reduction’ (Image Blur Reduction) boosts the sharpness of the final
picture by improving the original, frame by frame, before it is processed by Motionflow 200Hz.
The BRAVIA Z4500 series also takes viewing experience a true step forward with the BRAVIA
Engine 2, the new version of the acclaimed Sony signal processor that improves every aspect of the
image in real time. This fully digital integrated picture-enhancement engine reproduces black
shades that display objects with an impressive depth of reality. Coupled with the Advanced
Contrast Enhancer, the BRAVIA Z4500 series produces crisp, noise-free images with perfect
The BRAVIA Z4500 series also utilises a 10-bit LCD panel and Live Colour Creation technology
to reproduce natural, vibrant and accurate colour gradation with a wider range of shades for true-tolife viewing experience.
Recreating cinematic effects in the home is easier than ever before with the BRAVIA Z4500 series.
The 24P True Cinema technology enables automatic recognition of films shot at 24 frames per
second format and selects the appropriate imaging standard for playback in film-like motion. To
maximise audio effects for an immersive cinematic experience, the BRAVIA Z4500 series comes
with S-Force Front Surround system that delivers a wider listening area for realistic virtual
surround sound. The Voice Zoom function further maintains the level of ambient surround sound
to maximise audio clarity and uplift the overall experience.
Part of the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standards equipment, the BRAVIA Z4500
series will seamlessly connect with other DLNA Certified devices within the home, such as the
VAIO Personal Computer. Thanks to BRAVIA Sync, the Z4500 series can be connected to a wide
range of Sony home entertainment devices via High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI).
Everything can be operated by one remote control. With one-touch play and shutdown, the whole
home entertainment system can be turned on or off at once.
After convenient connection via the three HDMI outlets, users can switch freely among different
forms of entertainment, such as viewing videos on Handycam® or enjoying photos taken on Cybershot, at the touch of a button. What’s more, PhotoTV HD enables users to organise, edit and share
photos utilising the camera menu displayed on the Z4500 series.
The new BRAVIA Z4500 series comes with a built-in digital tuner. Additionally, this series
incorporates the Digital Media Port (DMP) feature for users to manage their music and digital
images from portable devices such as Sony Walkman® MP3 players and Bluetooth-enabled Sony
Ericsson mobile phones.
