The RadioShack FM Amplified Antenna is an easy-to-install in-door antenna that combines compact styling and amplification circuitry to boost even the weakest

FM signals. Its features include:

Preparation

Attach the appropriate antenna cable connector (either the 75-ohm single-lead output or the 300-ohm twin-lead output) to your receiver/tuner’s antenna terminal

(usually located on the back of the receiver/tuner).

Note: If the 75-ohm terminal on your receiver/tuner is not an F-Type connector, use the 300-ohm terminal.

Place the antenna anywhere that is convenient to the receiver/tuner. The higher you place it, the better its reception. The antenna’s compact design allows it to fit neatly on a shelf or any flat surface.

Connect the supplied AC adapter’s plug to the antenna’s 4.5V DC jack, then plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet.

Cautions:

!

You must use a power source that supplies 4.5V

DC and delivers at least 150 mA. Its center tip must be set to positive and its plug must fit the antenna’s 4.5V DC jack. The supplied adapter meets these specifications.

Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the antenna or the adapter.

• Always connect the AC adapter to the antenna before you connect it to

AC power. When you finish, disconnect the adapter from AC power before you disconnect it from the antenna.

Operation

POWER to ON . The red power indicator lights.

2. Turn on your receiver/tuner and select a station.

3. Set TUNING on the antenna to the same frequency as your receiver/tuner, and use TUNING to fine-tune the station so your receiver/tuner’s signal-strength meter reads maximum.

4. Set GAIN to LO if you are located near the selected FM station; this prevents overload. Set GAIN to HI to increase a weak signal.

5. To turn off the antenna, set POWER to

OFF .

Caution: Do not tamper with the recessed controls on the back of the antenna. They should be adjusted only by a service technician.

Care

To enjoy your antenna for a long time:

• Keep the antenna dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.

• Use and store the antenna only in normal temperature environments.

• Handle the antenna gently and carefully. Do not drop it.

• Keep the antenna away from dust and dirt.

• Wipe the antenna with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.

Modifying or tampering with the antenna’s internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty. If your antenna is not performing as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
