3com Business is a phone that offers a wide range of features to help you stay connected and productive. With its intuitive interface and easy-to-use buttons, you'll be able to make calls, answer calls, and manage your voicemail with ease.
Some of the key features of the 3com Business phone include:
- Internal and external calling: Make calls to other extensions within your office or to external phone numbers.
- Call forwarding: Forward your calls to another extension or to your voicemail.
- Call hold: Place a call on hold to answer another call or to take a break.
- Call transfer: Transfer a call to another extension.

3COM Business Phone Instructions
Making a call
1. For an internal call, press the four digit extension of the person you wish to call.
2. For an external call, press the “9” button and then phone number.
Answering a call
1. Pickup the handset when the phone rings.
2. Press the “Speaker” button when the phone rings.
Redialing a call
1. Press the “Redial” button after picking up the handset or pressing the “Speaker” button.
2. You can also use the display to check your call log to redial those numbers.
Answering a second call
1. Press “Hold” to save current call.
2. Press the blinking access button on which the new call is flashing.
Placing a call on hold
1. Press the “Hold” button to place the call on hold. One of the access button lights will begin to blink indicating the call is on hold.
2. To return to the call, press the access button next to the blinking light.
Transferring a call
1. Press the “Transfer” button
2. Dial the extension where the call is to be sent.
3. Press “Transfer” again to complete the transfer.
( Important! - with the older internal phone systems if you do not wait to hear the other person pick up or voicemail before hitting “Transfer” button, the call will be disconnected.)
To cancel a transfer press the “Release” button. The call will be returned as a flashing parked line, press it to pick it up.
Call Forwarding
1. To forward your calls, press the “Forward” access button and enter the destination extension. The button status light will turn on and the display will show “Call Forward.”
2. To undo the forward, press the “Forward” access button again. The button status light will turn off and the display will return to normal.
Conference calls
1. Make sure the first person in the conference call has called into your phone. You will be considered the second person in this call.
2. Press the “Conference” button which places the first person on hold.
3. Dial the third person and then when they answer, press the “Conference” button again.
4. During the call, you can place your line on hold by pressing the “Hold” button.
This will allow the other two people to talk but not hear you.
5. At the end of the conversation, hang up to end the call.
Checking Voice Mail
1. Press the purple voice mail button.
2. Enter your phone password.
3. Listen to the menu options to retrieve your messages.
To forward all incoming calls to your voice mail
1. Press the “Forward Mail” button so that the status light next to it turns on. All calls coming into the number will now go straight to voice mail.
2. To turn off mail forwarding, press the “Forward Mail” button so the status light turns off.
Using the internal phone directory
1. Press the “Directory” access button.
2. The phone display will show “1702 KIR” and alternate with “Select, Sort, Exit” options on the soft buttons. This means you are now accessing the directory.
3. To look up a person by last name, press the phone button number/letter combinations to spell out letters the person’s name. This would be very similar to spelling out words as you would if you were texting someone with your cell phone. For example, to look up “Smith”, press the “7” button four times to get
“S”, press the “6” button one time to get “M”, press the “4” button three times to get “I”, press the “8” button to get “T” and press the “4” button two times to get
“H”.
4. At any time while spelling a name, you can just enter the first few letters and then use the up and down scroll buttons to go up and down the directory listing.
5. Once you locate a person’s name, press the left soft button under the display or the “OK” access button to dial the extension.
Setting personal speed dial #’s
1. Press the “Menu” button to access the menu options.
2. User the scroll buttons to view the menu options.
3. Press 3 on the number pad to access the personal speed dials.
4. Use the scroll button to move up and down thru the available speed dial positions.
5. Press # then the number or extension for the speed dial. Remember to enter a 9 before the number for outside calls. The center soft key is the backspace.
6. When done press the “OK” button to accept.
Accessing Call History
1. Press the “Menu” button to access the menu options.
2. User the scroll buttons to view the menu options.
3. Press 2 for call history.
