Technics SA-210 FM/AM stereo receiver Operating instructions
The Technics SA-210 FM/AM stereo receiver is a high-quality audio component with a variety of features. It features a quartz synthesizer tuner for precise tuning and a built-in loudness circuit that compensates for the bass range at low volume levels, giving the music more presence. The unit allows you to preset 14 radio broadcast frequencies: 7 FM and 7 AM, for quick and easy access to your favorite stations. It also has a tape monitor/aux selector for listening to playback sound from a tape deck or a video cassette recorder connected to the rear panel.

For best reception of FM broadcasts, select an FM antenna with the best characteristics for the area in which the unit is to be used. EM Location of antenna Install the antenna: 1. Whereit will receive FM broadcast signals directly; notin the “shadow” of a building. Correct location avoids multi-path reception Directional ВЕ characteristic ~~ Reflected waves Transmitting don't enter station directional range Note: Multi-path distortion is the distortion which results from the reception of two types of signals: those reflected from nearby buildings, mountains, etc., and those received directly from the broadcasting station. 2. Danger close to power lines This unit includes an AM loop antenna. No outdoor antenna is necessary unless the broadcast signals in your area are especially weak. (Connect the loop antenna even if an outdoor antenna is used; if it is not connected, AM reception will not be possible.) E How to use the AM loop antenna Pay attention to the following points when attaching the antenna. 1)Do not attach it horizontally (to do so would impair reception). 2) Do not attach it close to metal surfaces (to do so would result in noise). 3) Do not attach it Close to power cords, speaker wires, etc. (to do so would result in noise). 4) Do not attach it close to a tape deck (when the tape deck is being used, chirping or beeping sounds may be received). 1. Connect the AM loop antenna to the AM antenna terminals located on the rear panel of the unit. (Refer to page 6) 2. Find the height and direction of the antenna where reception is best and then fix it vertically to the wall, rack, etc. 1) When attaching the antenna to a wall, column or rack. Frequently asked questions
You can preset up to 14 radio frequencies: 7 FM and 7 AM. To preset a frequency, tune to the desired station, press the memory button, then press the preset button you want to use for that station while the memory indicator is illuminated.
The tape monitor/aux selector allows you to listen to the playback sound from a tape deck or a video cassette recorder connected to the rear panel.
The automatic-scan/FM mode selector allows you to select either automatic scan tuning or manual step tuning for both AM and FM broadcasts. It also allows you to select either stereo or monaural reception of FM broadcasts.
The protection circuitry prevents circuitry damage if, for example, the positive and negative speaker connection wires are shorted, or if speaker systems with an impedance less than the indicated rated impedance of this unit are used.
If an outside AM antenna is installed, install it in a location away from utility poles, high-voltage power lines, high buildings and busy roads.
