Three different options exist:
1. Access your PC’s Control Panel Settings.
For example, Windows 10 users would
click on:
To configure HyNet to your facility’s network:
• Ethernet, RJ45 cable connection (Explained in this Quick Start)
• Serial, Micro-B USB connection (See HyNet User Manual)
• In field only, gate operator display/keypad (See HyNet User Manual)
2 Configure Static IP Address for PC

1. Plug the remote power supply (MX3980)
into the HyNet. Plug the opposite end into a
standard AC outlet.
2. Connect one RJ45 end of the Ethernet cable to
your laptop and the other end to HyNet.
NOTE: In the following steps, Admin privileges
are needed to reconfigure your PC. If you need
assistance, contact your IT Administrator.
1. From your PC, access a web browser.
(Chrome® and FireFox® work best.)
START window block/button then Settings (icon).
Network & Internet. Choose Ethernet
Change adapter options
Double click Ethernet (LAN) tab
Click Properties
Double click Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4)
Click Use following IP address and enter fields as
shown. Example 10.3.3.10
2. Type 10.3.3.2 in the address bar.
4. Leave the password field empty.
5. Press OK (Log In).
The HyNet HOME page appears.
12
4 Reset Admin, User & Installer Passwords
Similar to other configurable devices, HyNet
Gateway ships with the default password field
blank and open for customization. Recently,
large-scale takeovers of internet accessible
devices with default passwords has occurred.
Protect your accounts from internet hacks!
6. Hover over SETUP and click on
CONFIGURE NETWORK.
5 Enter Your License Key
12
Without a license key, you are restricted to one
gate operator and the top 5 selections under
the SETUP tab.
To access all HyNet features, you will need:
• HyNet serial number
• Gate operator serial number (up to 4)
• To “Agree” to End User Terms
HySecurity highly recommends that the customer,
upon establishing network connection with
HyNet Gateway, immediately change the default
passwords on the Admin, User and Installer
accounts so each has a unique login and password.
1. If needed, take these steps to obtain your
license key:
From the HOME page, select:
• SETUP --> MANAGE ACCOUNTS
2. Return to the web browser and enter the
License Key in the field provided.
Click on each Admin, User and Installer account and change the default password.
3. Click Submit.
• Hover over SETUP and click Enter License Key.
• Click Retrieve your License Key and register
your HyNet through the HySecurity website portal.
• Login & click, HyNet License. Follow online steps.

NOTE: Online Help is available by clicking the ? icon.
2. Set the Default gateway to 10.3.3.1
3. Save and exit (OK and Close) the Control Panel.

3. At the user name prompt, type admin.
NOTE: Do NOT use a static IP address ending
in numbers, 1, 2, or 3. Those numbers are
already in use.

6 Create Interconnect Cable (RS-485)
Useful Tools: Wire snips, Wire stripper and Micro-miniature, flat-head
screwdriver
The installer supplies the shielded twisted control cable (24 - 20 AWG) for the
HyNet RS-485 connection inside the gate operator. Place the HyNet inside the
gate operator using the appropriate mounting kit. See HyNet Mounting Kits.

1. Turn OFF power to the Controller.
2. Plug the interconnect cable (MX3857) into HyNet RS-485 port and the opposite
end into the Controller board, as shown. Note which Controller you are using.
Four gate operators may be connected to one HyNet. Assign the gate operator,
connected to the interconnect harness (MX3857), the initial HyNet system address,
“SA” of 1.
1. Press Next until SA 0, SYSTEM ADDRESS appears.
3. Plug the red flying lead onto +24VDC spade* (Option: +12VDC if using SDC).
4. Turn ON power to the Controller.
5. Check LED status. See Table 2: HyNet LED Indicators.
NOTE: For gate operator serial communication, choosing an “SA” of 1 to 4 establishes individual
network polling addresses. HyNet only utilizes numbers 1, 2, 3, or 4. A system address, “SA” of zero
means no network communication is desired.
