Choose your software:
POS software can vary in the features they offer. Choosing the correct software for your POS system is very important. Before choosing your software package, make sure you know some basic needs of your customer.
We highly recommend having your customer fill out the included Customer Needs Questionnaire.
Once you understand your customer’s needs, use the Software Matrix (Appendix A) to help decide which software package will work best. For best results, call the software company to confirm their software has the required features. Not sure where to start? Call POS-X directly at 1-800-790-8657, although we can not tell you what to buy, we have years of experience helping people make the right decision.
Find out About Support:
Training and/or support related to the software is provided directly by the software company. We highly recommend you speak with the software company prior to purchasing their software to ensure you are comfortable with their support ability.
Although we will install your software (through the ScanSource Custom Configuration Center) you still must purchase the software directly from the software company.

POS-X EZBuild How To: For Resellers
Place Your Order with ScanSource:
Once the hardware selection is complete, simply place your order with your ScanSource Representative. The
ScanSource Custom Configuration Center will pre-configure your system and perform a 24 hour burn-in-test to make sure everything is working properly! The completed, pre-configured system (hardware & software) will typically ship in 2-4 business days.
When ordering, please let your ScanSource Representative know what software program you are going to be using (remember software is purchased directly from the software company). You will not need to physically send the software to anyone as we keep copies on file of all software programs that are part of the EZBuild program.
After Receiving Your System:
After receiving your completed system from ScanSource, you will need to perform the following tasks.
1. Plug in the cables & turn on the computer: Basic instructions are included on how to properly plug in all the needed cables.
2. Activate your software: Each software has a different process to be registered or activated. If unsure on how to register your software please call or e-mail the software company directly.
3. Load inventory and/or menu items: Although the software is configured to work with all included POS-X hardware, setup such as inventory, pricing, menus, etc. still needs to be completed. Instructions for this can often be found in the software manual or quick start guide.

Other Important Notes:
If your customer is going to process credit cards through the POS System, a separate Payment Processing software may need to be purchased and loaded separately. Typically the merchant account provider and the software company can help with this process.
