Powerful in a versatile chassis
The SP-50 is an economical, value oriented potentiostat/
galvanostat designed to address applications in general
electrochemistry and corrosion. Contained in a simple, compact
chassis, the SP-50 is a fixed configuration unit with no options.
It is targeted for new researchers in the field of electrochemistry
and an ideal instrument for teaching and education.
It offers good performance with a small price tag.
The SP-150 is a more full featured economical research grade
potentiostat. With its modular chassis, this instrument can
be customized to address all applications in the area of classical
electrochemistry. The SP-150 potentiostat configuration can be
selected at purchase to include an EIS-capable potentiostat,
and a low current option (1 nA full scale range).
It can also be connected to external high current boosters
(2, 5, 10, 20, 80 and 100 A).

Compact and powerful in a portable chassis
Fast, sensitive, stable and modular
SP-200 is the newest, research grade, value-oriented
potentiostat/galvanostat in the Bio-Logic product range.
With excellent specifications in a portable chassis,
the SP-200 is the perfect instrument for any application
in electrochemistry especially corrosion. The SP-200 offers
outstanding features such as a floating mode, analog filtering,
a built-in calibration board, and 9 stability bandwidths for
a better control of the cell. Additionally, the SP-200 can be
purchased with a standard DC potentiostat or an EIS
capable one. There is also an Ultra Low Current (ULC) option.
On-site corrosion experiments can be performed thanks to
its portable design.
SP-300 is a state-of-the-art research grade potentiostat/
galvanostat/FRA with remarkable specifications.
The base specifications are the same for both the SP-300
and the SP-200 including floating mode, analog filtering,
built-in calibration board, and stability bandwidths.
The SP-300’s modular chassis has the ability to add a
high current/high voltage option board (1 A/48 V).
The SP-300 can also accept a second potentiostat board
(either standard or EIS) and perform as a Bipotentiostat.
It is also a multiple user system as each channel board
can be used independently by two different researchers.

Analytical Electrochemistry
Fundamental and analytical electrochemistry research
is probably the most demanding application with respect
to instrumentation.
This type of research is aimed at exploring material limits,
and therefore requires the most advanced instrument
capabilities.
Fast potential scans can be used to highlight intermediate
reaction species. For low current measurements,
the excellent sensitivity of the ultra low current option is
a big advantage in detecting very low concentrations.
This option offers a 76 aA current resolution on the
1 pA range making it especially attractive to researchers
testing sensors.
EIS capability is also a powerful tool to investigate
fundamental electrochemical phenomenon at
the working electrode surface.

Two independant channels with a low current option
Ultimate Electrochemical Workstation
The Bistat is a two channel potentiostat/galvanostat
dedicated to bi-potentiostat experiments, especially rotating
ring disk studies. Based on the VSP technology, the
specifications are similar to the VSP non-impedance board.
The configuration of this unit is fixed with two standard
channel boards (without EIS) configuration.
One is coupled to a low current option (typically connected
to the ring electrode of an RRDE).
The VSP is a research grade potentiostat system in a 5-channel
modular chassis. This allows the VSP to add additional capability
in the way of plug-in “modules”. These modules provide EIS
capability (included on the potentiostat board), low current
measurement (uses 1 additional slot), 4 A current booster
(two slots) and additional potentiostat channels (each one
takes one slot). The internal 4 A option takes two slots
in the VSP chassis and requires a potentiostat board to
be used with it. External boosters from 2 A up to 100 A can be
used with each channel in the VSP.

The VMP3 is a research-grade multi-channel potentiostat.
With its modular chassis design, up to 16 independent potentiostat
channels can be installed. The VMP3 can be equipped with
additional capabilities, including low current measurement,
impedance and high current via plug-in modules.
Each potentiostat installed in the VMP3 can be connected
to an external high current booster channel. The VMP3 is
also a multiple user system. Thanks to the Ethernet LAN
connection capability, several computers can be connected
to the unit at the same time.
The MPG2 is a multi-channel, research grade battery cycler
designed for research on intercalation compounds, batteries
and supercapacitors. The MPG2 is the next generation of the
Bio-Logic’s popular MacPile testing unit.
The configuration of MPG2 is fixed at 16 channels.
Each channel is an independent potentiostat/galvanostat
with a maximum current of 100 mA. EIS measurement
is not possible with this unit. The MPG2 can be interfaced
to an external power booster to get the current per channel
up to 2 or 5 A.

Focus on corrosion/coatings
The low current option is ideal for corrosion experiments.
With an input impedance of 1014 ohms (with 1 pF in parallel)
and a 1 pA range, Bio-Logic’s instruments can measure
extremely low corrosion rates and provide EIS data on
high impedance coatings.
Using the VMP3 in a multi-electrode mode (N’Stat configuration)
is an excellent feature that allows users to acquire the statistics
necessary for localized corrosion evaluations.
Bio-Logic’s systems exhibit extremely high resolution and
accuracy in current and potential measurements.
Combined with a high acquisition speed, they are well-suited
for making Electrochemical Noise Measurements using
dedicated techniques (ZRA - ZVC).
EC-Lab® software offers many standard corrosion techniques
and data analysis tools (Tafel and Rp fits) to study corrosion
(uniform, pitting...).

The HCP-803 is a High Current Potentiostat capable of
producing 80 A with a voltage range of +/- 3 V.
It is primarily designed for applications in the fuel cell
and supercapacitor areas. It is a combination of a
research quality potentiostat and an 80 A booster built
into the same chassis. The potentiostat has the same
specifications as the VMP3 potentiostat boards (with EIS option)
when not connected to the booster portion of the unit.
The HCP-1005 is a compact high current potentiostat/galvanostat/
FRA specially designed to study secondary batteries with a high
capacity. With a voltage range of 0.6 to 5 V and a current range
of +/-100 A, this unit can be used to test industrial Li-ion battery
modules. The EIS capability integrated in the chassis
is ideal for ageing tests. The HCP-1005 structure is similar
to the HCP-803. It is a combination of a research potentiostat and
a 100 A booster built into the same chassis.

The CLB-500 controlled electronic load box is specially
designed for the latest research on devices delivering energy
from renewable sources such as fuel cells and photovoltaic
systems. The CLB-500 couples an electronic load with an
EIS capable potentiostat in the same compact chassis.
This controlled electronic load handles up to a 500 W load
at 50 A/10 V.
The CLB-2000 is a 150 A/50 V controlled electronic load
designed to study stacks of fuel cells and solar cells.
The CLB-2000 couples a 2 kW electronic load with an EIS
capable potentiostat in the same compact chassis.
This unit can be used in connection with a VMP3 to perform
simultaneous measurements (AC and DC) on individual
elements of the stacks (up to 50 elements).

with a high current booster
Each of our modular multi-potentiostat units and the
SP-150 can be interfaced to a separate current booster unit.
These modular booster units can have different booster
modules placed inside them (2, 5, 10, or 20 A).
In the standard booster chassis there are 8 available booster
slots and the current limit is 20 A. Each booster channel
is connected to a single potentiostat channel. There is also
an 80 or 100 A booster unit. 4 A and 8 A booster kits can be
directly inserted in the potentiostat chassis (one 4 A kit for
the VSP and either two 4 A kits or one 8 A kit for the VMP3).
The SP-300 chassis can accommodate one 1 A/48 V option.

A comprehensive software package
EC-Lab® is an advanced software package for performing
electrochemistry measurements. With more than 10 years of
development and constant improvement in techniques and features,
EC-Lab® software has become the benchmark in potentiostat
control software.
Display mode
Two view modes are available in EC-Lab®. The setup of experiments
can be done with a technique menu, or by inputting parameter values
into a spreadsheet. Many experimental parameters can be modified
“on the fly” during the experiment, with the changes stored into the
raw data file. The appearance of the software interface is able to be
adapted to create the best working environment for the user.

EC-Lab® software contains more than 50 techniques. These techniques
can address applications in voltammetry, EIS, corrosion and energy
source development. A powerful technique builder can execute a
series of different modular techniques, wait and loop features to
create complex experimental sequences. Even within each technique,
the user can create up to 100 linkable sequences of that experiment
with different parameters.

Easy and user-friendly Software for new users
An easy software for education
EC-lab® Express is the ideal software to start with Electrochemistry.
With an easy-to-use straight-forward parameter input window, this
unique interface gives a simple overview for the user to create,
modify and visualize the experimental setup. All voltammetry and
chrono-method protocols are included, complemented by pulsed
techniques and corrosion testing.
A comprehensive graphics package
EC-lab® Express graphical package is the same as that in EC-lab®
and includes all analysis, integration and fitting tools present in the
more full featured EC-LAB software.
EIS measurements
EC-lab®
Express can perform EIS experiments on the counter
electrode. Impedance of the counter and the working electrode are
calculated simultaneously. EIS measurements on each element of a
stack are also available.
Simple experimental sequence builder
EC-lab® Express offers more than 30 techniques. These techniques
can address applications in voltammetry, EIS, corrosion and
material development. An easy technique linker can execute a
series of different modular techniques, wait periods and loops to
create complex experimental sequences.
EC-lab® Express provides the opportunity to do pulsed experiments
up to 20 μs sampling or 40 μs for Cyclic voltammetry. This is very
useful for performing kinetics and electroplating studies.

BiStat, HCP-803, CLB-500.
OEM Package
Bio-Logic has developped an OEM package and
LabView® drivers which are available for our

EC-Lab’s graphic package provided with the software includes a
powerful 3-Dimension plot feature and a tool to create unique graph
templates.
Using our advanced “Process” function, the user can create new
variables for each axis. This enables mathematical functions to be
performed on data plotted on any axis.
Powerful electro-analytical analysis tools (such as peak find/height,
convection wave, integral, Tafel fit, Rp determination) are available
in EC-Lab®. These analyses incorporate classical fit routines (linear,
circular) and algorithms. All the analysis results are stored in a
separate file.
EC-Lab’s EIS modeling package utilizes the equivalent circuit
approach. There are over 150 standard circuits and two minimizations algorithms available for use in understanding impedance
plot information. The user can define and build his own circuit model
using a range of eight simple elements (R, C, L, Q, W, G, Wd, M). A
batch processing feature allows the fitting of multiple cycles in an
impedance experiment.

EIS measurements
EIS techniques
AC sine waves can be superimposed on a DC potential or a DC current
value. Additional techniques are available that impose the sine wave
on a potential (SPEIS, also known as Mott Schottky technique) or a
current (SGEIS) sweep. Finally our EIS techniques can be sequenced
to apply different defined conditions during the frequency sweep.

Many units in the electrochemistry product range developed
by Bio-Logic can be equipped with a built-in EIS analyser. This
measurement is based on the DSP technology that mixes accuracy
and fast sampling.
This feature results in several major tools developed in our control
software: Single Sine and Mutiple Sine EIS techniques, Fast Fourier
Transform based integration, cycle averaging and a patented drift
correction.

EIS Accuracy
Accuracy is given by the error observed on the phase and on the
magnitude. For almost all of our potentiostats, we specify 1%,
1° accuracy below 500 kHz, which is reduced with a booster. For
SP-200/300 technology, the performance is higher and reaches
0.3%, 0.3° accuracy in the same area.
EIS Modeling
EC-Lab® software offers ZFit, a modeling tool for equivalent circuit
fitting. Over 150 standard circuits combining 8 elements and
two minimization algorithms (Simplex DownHill and LevenbergMarquardt) are available to investigate impedance data. Zfit and
ZSim tools are available in EC-Lab® demo version.

Two models for 25 and 50 cm2
The FCT-150S and FCT-50S are compact fuel cell test stations
designed for PEMFC testing. Based on feedback from our
customers, they are designed to be the most flexible test stations
on the market. The compact chassis integrates a programmable
electronic load (250 W), gas and water control circuitry
(flow, pressure and temperature) and data acquisition.
The electronic load uses state-of-the-art technology and
is capable of reaching very low voltage levels (virtually 0 V)
at 150 A (for FCT-150S) and 50 A (for FCT-50S).
A number of safety features have been incorporated in
the hardware and software. To conduct long-term experiments,
such as fuel cell ageing, Bio-Logic has developed an automated
humidifier, water filling and condenser water purging,
all managed by FC-Lab control software.
