If the illuminator is not properly vented, it will overheat and turn the unit off. This will cause premature lamp failure and could cause the fiber optic cables to melt. ILLUMINATOR AIR FLO W FAILURE DUE TO IMPROPER VENTILATION IS NOT COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY! FINISHED SOIL MAX. HEIGHT GRADE LEVEL MAX. HEIGHT INSTALLATION BASE Limited Warranty Policy Fiberstars, Inc. (Fiberstars), warrants the Lighting Systems (illuminator and fiber), excluding the lamp, to be free from defects in material and/or workmanship, under normal use and service, for a period of ONE YEAR from the date of installation. A Lighting System is defined as a Fiberstars Illuminator coupled with Fiberstars fiber to deliver fiber optic lighting. The use of a Fiberstars component (illuminator or fiber tubing) with a non-Fiberstars component voids all warranties. Fiberstars components are designed to be part of a Fiberstars system. Their use with other components will affect their performance and therefore will not be warranted. In the event of a defect in material or workmanship during the warranty period, Fiberstars will repair or replace (at its option) the Lighting System under the conditions of the Warranty. Fiberstars will do so at its expense for the materials but not for shipping. THIS REMEDY IS THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO ANY BREACH OF WARRANTY BY FIBERSTARS. LIMITATIONS, EXCLUSIONS AND OTHER RIGHTS: A. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED HEREIN, FIBERSTARS MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND ALL SUCH WARRANTIES ARE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF AN IMPLIED WARRANTY, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. B. IN NO EVENT SHALL FIBERSTARS BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, EVEN IF FIBERSTARS HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE. THIS DISCLAIMER APPLIES DURING AND AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. C. Fiberstars is not responsible for defects or malfunctions in and/or damage to Lighting Systems where a sale is specifically made without warranty. In such sales the disclaimers of warranty and liability, set forth above, shall continue to apply. D. This warranty covers normal consumer use and does not cover damage which occurs in shipment or failure with results from alteration, accident, theft, misuse, abuse, abnormal use, negligent installation, improper maintenance or where adequate care has not been taken to prevent damage to the Lighting System. E. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. If you discover a defect or malfunction during the period to which the Warranty applies, write or phone Fiberstars for information on receiving warranty service. TROUBLE SHOOTING -THERE IS NO LIGHT You can hear the fan running: The lamp has probably failed. Replace with Fiberstars part #HI-111. There is no fan running: The illuminator is not getting power. Check the GFCI breaker, check the fuse on the illuminator. -THE UNIT SHUTS OFF AFTER A FEW MINUTES THEN COMES BACK ON Check to see if the ventilation holes are blocked Turn off the power. Remove the four screws securing the lid and check for an obstruction in the cooling fan. -REMOTE CONTROL UNITS (FS5C-R) There is a rapid clicking sound at the illuminator when the button is pressed: The receiver module in the unit is defective. Have a qualified service company replace it. There is a click at the unit when the button is pressed, but no light: If you hear the fan running, the lamp has probably failed. Replace with Fiberstars part #HI-111. If you cannot hear the fan running, the receiver module is probably defective. Have a qualified service company replace it. There is NO click at the unit when the button is pressed: Make sure that the plug-in transmitter is plugged in to functioning outlet. The red light on the transmitter should glow when a button is depressed. Make sure that the small switch marked "1-4 / 5-8" is in the "1-4" position (fig. 2-1). If the transmitter is functioning properly, but the illuminator still does not come on, the receiver module may be defective. Have a qualified service company replace it. -LIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH The adequacy of pool lighting is subjective at best. What is acceptable to most, may not be for some. The pool builder is given guidelines by Fiberstars, and the builder alone is responsible for the final design and installation. There are many factors that determine the ultimate brightness of our product; fiber lengths, pool finish color, installation techniques, etc. Remember that darker colors on our color wheel, i.e. magenta, are not as bright as lighter colors like white. CHANGING THE LAMP Remove the four screws securing the lid. USE ONLY FIBERSTARS PART #HI-111 MAKE SURE THE ILLUMINATOR IS COOL! Use your finger to slide out the socket/ lamp assembly. FIG 1-1 CHECKING THE FUSE FS5C-R CONTROLLER Indicator Light Letter Code Dial 1-4 / 5-8 Selector Switch FIG 2-1 Pull the lamp free from the socket. Install the new lamp by pushing the pins into the socket. DO NOT TOUCH THE FILAMENT OR THE LAMP WILL BURN OUT PREMATURELY. Numbered buttons The fuse is located above the connection box on the side of the illuminator. Push the fuse holder cap and twist it to remove the cap and fuse. The fuse filament should be intact, and not be broken or burnt. If the fuse is defective, replace with a standard 230V 2.5 Amp fuse. Push the fuse/cap assembly back in to the holder and twist to lock. FIG 1-2 Slide the new lamp with the socket back into the bracket. The lamp should sit FLAT on the bracket for maximum light transmission.
