Laser and the Environment
The pursuit of a more convenient, environmentally conscious projector led Sony to introduce the world’s first 3LCD projector
incorporating a laser light source. These projectors use fewer resources because they eliminate the need for replacement
lamps, improve energy efficiency and contain no mercury, all without compromising vibrant colors and brightness.

NO LAMPS = LESS WASTE
Most projectors are illuminated by a lamp that fades over
a relatively short time period, which regularly creates
lamp wastes. Conventional projectors could require up
to 9 lamps containing mercury for a service life of up
to 20,000 hours. Sony’s True Laser light in our amazing
VPL-FHZ700L and VPL-FHZ55 projectors are rated for an
estimated 20,000 hours of life.

MERCURY-FREE = ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS
Conventional projectors rely on lamps containing mercury
for their high-quality output images and displays. Mercury
is a significant environmental toxicant that must be carefully
handled to avoid contamination of the environment. Sony’s
VPL-FHZ700L and VPL-FHZ55 laser projectors eliminate
any concerns about potential environmental pollution
from incorrect lamp disposal while maintaining the high
levels of brightness and screen resolution expected from
conventional projectors.

REDUCED ENERGY CONSUMPTION = POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
There are quite a few energy-saving features built in,
that allow you to easily make a positive impact on the
environment.

uto Dimming Mode: Saves energy up to 95% when
the projector is left on without being used.
• A
uto Light Source Control: Automatically adapts
the projector’s brightness according to the image
projected, to avoid unnecessary power consumption.
• P
icture Muting: When you need to cut off the
picture temporarily, light output can be completely
deactivated to minimize energy consumption.
• A
uto Picture Mode: Automatically
adjusts light output to fit the
projected picture, further
reducing the energy consumed
during use.
• Instant On/Off: Because the
projector starts up in a speedy six
seconds and shuts down almost
instantly, no energy or time is
wasted on warming up or cooling
down.
