RF Exposure

Your device contains a transmitter and a receiver. When it is ON, it receives and transmits RF energy. When you communicate with your device, the system handling your communication controls the power level at which your device transmits.

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR)

Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves recommended by international guidelines. These guidelines were developed by the independent scientific organization ICNIRP and include safety margins designed to assure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health.

The guidelines use a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption

Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit for mobile devices is 2 W/kg. The highest SAR value for this device when tested was 0.926 W/kg and complied with this limit.

3

Limiting exposure to radio frequency (RF) fields

For individuals concerned about limiting their exposure to RF fields, the World

Health Organisation (WHO) provides the following advice:

Precautionary measures: Present scientific information does not indicate the need for any special precautions for the use of mobile devices. If individuals are concerned, they might choose to limit their own or their children’s RF exposure by limiting the length of calls, or using ‘hands-free’ devices to keep mobile devices away from the head and body.

Further information on this subject can be obtained from the WHO home page http://www.who.int/peh-emf WHO Fact sheet 193: June 2000.

setup

The first time you power on your tablet, you’re welcomed to Android

TM

. Please follow the instructions to start setting up and using your tablet. During this setup, you are asked to sign into a Google Account to use Gmail, Google Talk, and other Google apps and to take advantage of most the other Google services on your tablet. If you don’t have a Google Account, you can also create one.

If you don’t sign into a Google Account during setup, you are prompted to sign in or to create a Google Account the first time you start an app that requires one, such as Gmail or Play Store.

Once setup is complete, Home screen opens.

9

Using the touch screen

The main way to control Android features is by using your finger to manipulate icons, buttons, menu items, the onscreen keyboard, and other items on the touch screen. You can also change the screen’s orientation.

Touch To act on items on the screen, such as app and settings icons, to type letters and symbols using the onscreen keyboard, or to press onscreen buttons, you simply touch them with your finger.

Touch & hold Touch & hold an item on the screen by touching it and not lifting your finger until an action occurs.

Drag Touch & hold an item for a moment and then, without lifting your finger, move your finger on the screen until you reach the target position.

Swipe or slide To swipe or slide, you quickly move your finger across the surface of the screen, without pausing when you first touch it (so you don’t drag an item instead). For example, you slide the Home screen left or right to view the other parts, and in some Calendar views you slide to view earlier or later periods.

Double-tap Tap quickly twice on a webpage, map, or other screen to zoom.

For example, you double-tap a section of a webpage in Browser to zoom that section to fit the width of the screen. Double-tapping after pinching to zoom in some apps reflows a column of text to fit the width of the screen.

Pinch In some apps (such as Maps, Browser, and Gallery), you can zoom in and out by placing two fingers on the screen at once and pinching them together (to zoom out) or spreading them apart (to zoom in).

Rotate the screen On most screens, the orientation of the screen rotates with the tablet as you turn it. You can turn this feature on and off in settings menu.

• If there are no empty spots on the Home screen, Add is dimmed; you must delete or move an item before you can add another item, or switch to another Home screen.

• Drag an item onto the Home screen where you want to add it.

If you pause before lifting your finger, the Home screen enlarges so you can place the item where you want it. Otherwise, it gets placed in the first available spot.

Some items prompt you for more information before they are added to a Home screen. For example, bookmarks prompt you to pick the Browser bookmark you want to add, Contacts shortcuts prompt you to pick the contact you want, and so on.

Move a Home screen item

• Touch & hold the item you want to move, until the Home screen grid appears. Don’t lift your finger.

• Drag the item to a new location on the same Home screen, or drag the item to the outline of another Home screen to the left or right to move it to another Home screen.

• When the item is where you want it, lift your finger.

Remove an item from the Home screen

• Touch & hold the item you want to remove, until the Home screen grid appears. Don’t lift your finger. The Remove icon appears in the middle-right of the screen.

• Drag the item to the Remove icon.

• When the icon turns red, lift your finger.

The item is removed from the Home screen, but it’s not deleted from your tablet. You can always put it back; see “Add an item to a Home screen”.

• This mobile phone has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiated radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Note:

• The country code selection is for non-US model only and is not available to all US model. Per FCC regulation, all WiFi product marketed in US must fixed to US operation channels only.

RF Exposure Information (SAR)

This device meets the government’s requirements for exposure to radio waves.

This device is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications

Commission of the U.S. Government.

22

The exposure standard for wireless device employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6W/kg. *Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions accepted by the FCC with the device transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the device while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the device is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the poser required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output.

The highest SAR value for the device as reported to the FCC when tested for worn on the body, as described in this user guide, is 0.878 W/kg (Bodyworn measurements differ among device models, depending upon available accessories and FCC requirements.)

While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various devices and at various positions, they all meet the government requirement.

The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this model device with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SAR information on this model device is on file with the FCC and can be found under the Display Grant section of www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid after searching on FCC ID: O57A2107VDF3G.
