Introduction
The Autronic SM4 driver for DashDAQ allows the DashDAQ to display and lo g the data stream from an Autronic SM4
ECU.
Supported devices
The Autronic SM4 driver for DashDAQ currently supports the following Autronic devices:
Autronic SM4 V1.07 and previous
Autronic SM4 V1.08

Connecting Directly to a 3.5mm Plug
The Autronic SM4 ECU uses a 3.5mm “headphone plug” for the serial port connection. The connections for wiring directly from a Drew Technologies I/O cable to a 3.5mm plug are shown in the following diagram:

Connecting to an Autronic DB-9 to 3.5mm plug cable
The cable supplied by Autronic to connect their device to a PC serial port for configuration and logging (DB-9 to
3.5mm jack cable) can be used to connect to the DashDAQ by wiring the Drew Technologies DashDAQ cable to a male DB-9 connector. The connections for wiring to a male DB-9 connector are shown in the following table.

Driver and License Installation
A MMC/SD memory card is required to install the Autronic SM4 driver and license file. The installation is performed using the following steps:
• Place a MMC/SD card into a PC
• Create a folder called “transfer” on the MMC/SD card
• Copy the AutronicSM4.so and AutronicSM4.dtl files supplied by Drewtech to the transfer directory on the
MMC/SD card
• Power up the DashDAQ and place the MMC/SD card into the card slot once it has booted up.
• Get to the DashDAQ “Main Menu” and touch “Setup”
• Touch one of the arrows on the upper scroll bar until “Install from SD Card” is displayed
• Touch “Driver” from the list and touch the “Install” button.
• “AutronicSM4.so” should be shown in the dialog box. Touch “AutronicSM4.so” and then touch “OK”. A popup box should appear indicating the file was successfully installed. Touch “OK”.
• Touch “License” from the list and touch the “Install” button.
• “AutronicSM4.dtl” should be shown in the dialog box. Touch “AutronicSM4.dtl” and then touch “OK”. A popup box should appear indicating the file was successfully installed. Touch “OK”.
• Press one of the arrows on the upper scroll bar until “Installed Devices” is seen.
• If AutronicSM4 is not shown as one of the devices, touch on an unused device entry and touch “Change” and then touch “Driver” in the new window.
• Touch one of the arrows on the top scroll bar until “Other” is displayed. “Autronic SM4 (licensed)” should appear in the list. Touch “Autronic SM4 (licensed)” and then touch “Save”.
• If the serial port name that the Autronic ECU has been connected to is not shown next to the “Port” button
(RS232-1 or RS232-2), touch the “Port” button until the correct port is displayed.
• Touch “Save” and then “Save” again.
Driver and license installation is complete.
