Proper assembly will ensure every effort has been made to design this bed with your child's safety in mind. DO NOT place bed near windows where cords from blinds or drapes may strangle a child. ¢ Read all instructions before assembling bed. KEEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE USE. ¢ Before each usage or assembly, inspect bed for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts or sharp edges. DO NOT use bed if any parts are missing or broken. Ask your dealer or write to Young America, P.O. Box 30, Stanleytown, VA 24168 for replacement parts and instructional literature if needed. * DO NOT substitute parts. Use only screws or parts supplied by manufacturer or parts of comparable quality and equal dimensions. Do not allow ends of screws or sharp edges to be exposed. ¢ The minimum age of the intended user shall not be less than 15 months. e The maximum weight of the intended user shall not be greater than 50 1b (22.7 kg). ¢ The mattress intended for use on the bed shall be a full-size crib mattress having minimum dimensions of 51 5/8 in. (1310 mm) in length and 27 1/4 in. (690 mm) in width and thickness of 4 in. (100 mm) and not exceeding 6 in. (150 mm). e DO NOT use a water mattress with this bed. e Guardrail provided must be used to avoid a gap between the mattress and the bed that could cause an entrapment. e Do not place items with a string, cord, or ribbon around a child's neck, such as hood strings or pacifier cords. e Do not suspend strings over a toddler bed for any reason. e If refinishing, use a non-toxic finish specified for children's products. e Never use plastic shipping bags or other plastic film as mattress covers because they can cause suffocation. ¢ The bed must be fully assembled prior to use. ¢ Do not allow child to crawl or play underneath bed. e Use caution when a vaporizer 1s in use. Identifying the Hardware Page 4 Identify the hardware included in the hardware bag using the illustrations below 4 Decorative bolts 3 1/2" (1/4" X 20 thread) 1 Decorative bolt 2" (1/4" X 20 thread) 4 Decorative bolts (3/4") and caps (7/8") (1/4" X 20 thread) 2 Decorative bolts 3/4" (1/4" X 20 thread) 4 Barrel nuts 4 Flat washers 3/8" inside diameter 2 Safety rail brackets 2 Allen wrenches © (OO ПО N ba TM A trademark of Stanley Fumiture Company, Inc. y Step 1: Assemble Conversion Kit TOOLS REQUIRED SCREWDRIVER анна (FLAT HEAD) «= Расе 5 1. Attach the frame posts to the frame bottom rail with 3 1/2" X 1/4-20 allen head bolts and barrel nuts as shown in SECTION "A" below. Tighten the bolts with the allen wrench that is provided. 2. The frame bottom rail has 3 saddle brackets on the back side of 1t. This allows the toddler safety rail to be placed at either end of the bed that you desire. The toddler safety rail has a hole drilled through one of the ends that aligns with an insert in the frame post. This end of the safety rail has to be positioned against the frame post to install properly. Place the bottom edge of the safety rail onto the top edge of the frame bottom rail with the bored end against either frame post that you desire. Insert a 2" X 1/4-20 allen head bolt through the hole in the end of the toddler safety rail and bolt it to the frame post using the allen wrench that 1s provided. 3. Slide one of the safety rail brackets through the saddle bracket near the end of the frame bottom rail and bolt т to the safety rail with 3/4" X 1/4-20 allen head bolts, flat washers, and bolt caps, as shown in SECTION "A". Tighten with the allen wrenches that are provided. 4. Repeat step 3 to install the other safety rail bracket in the saddle bracket that is located in the middle of the frame bottom rail. 5. Install a 3/4" X 1/4-20 allen head bolt into the unused hole on the inside of the other frame post as shown in the diagram below. Using the allen wrench that is provided, loosen the 4 allen head bolts that attach the footboard to the crib assembly. Loosen the bolts until they disengage from the threaded inserts in the footboard. 2. Remove the footboard from the crib assembly. Step 3: Adjust Crib Spring Height The crib spring must be placed in the lowest height position before it can be used with the #230 Toddler Bed/Day Bed Conversion Kit. Hole "A", shown in SECTION "A" below, shows the crib spring in its lowest height position. Refer to Page 5 of the Built to Grow™ Crib instruction booklet if additional instructions are needed, before proceeding to the next assembly step. Align the metal locater pins on the front of the crib ends with the holes that are drilled near the bottom of the conversion kit posts. Insert 2 1/4" X 1/4-20 allen head bolts through the back of the front posts of the crib ends. Align the bolts with the inserts that are in the back of the conversion kit posts and tighten with the allen wrench that is provided. 4. Check all bolts and tighten them securely with the allen wrench if necessary before proceeding. Step 5: Store Instructions and Install Mattress 1. After completing assembly and after you have read the entire instructions booklet, store instructions in the plastic sleeve attached to the mattress spring foundation. KEEP INSTRUCTIONS WITH THE TODDLER BED/DAY BED. Page 8 CAUTION: Any mattress in this toddler/day bed must be at least 27-1/4" by 51-5/8" with a thickness of no less than 4 inches and not exceeding 6 inches. 4" MINIMUM THICKNESS MAT 55 6" MAXIMUM THICKNESS JZ Q CRIB SPRING FRAME | Conversion from Toddler Bed to Day Bed Your Built to Grow™ Toddler Bed can be converted to a Day Bed by removing the Toddler Safety Rail from the Toddler Bed/Day Bed Conversion Kit Assembly. Refer to page 5 of this instruction booklet if additional information is needed in order to make this conversion. Conversion to Full Size (4/6) Bed Your Built to Grow™ Toddler/Day Bed can be converted to a full size (4/6 size) bed by purchasing a pair of #50 wood rails and a #468 double slat roll (4/6 size). Contact your Young America Baby™ dealer to purchase these items. Follow the instructions on page 9 of the Built to Grow™ Crib instruction booklet in order to make this conversion. Safety Rails for Full Size (4/6) Bed For additional safety, #267 or #268 (depending on the model number of your bed) Transition Safety Rails are available for your Built to Grow™ Crib when converted to a full size (4/6) bed. Page 9 CLEANING: Mix together a mild solution of gentle dishwashing liquid and water, apply to toddler bed surface using a soft clean cloth lightly dampened тп the solution. Rinse with clear water again using a soft clean cloth, then dry all surfaces thoroughly with a soft dry cloth. NO ABRASIVE CLEANERS, SCOURING PADS, STEEL WOOL, OR COARSE RAGS SHOULD BE USED TO CLEAN THIS FINE FURNITURE. STORAGE: A plastic sleeve 1s attached to the crib spring for the storage of the assembly directions for future referral. After completing the assembly process, you are advised to read and be aware of all WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, CLEANING, STORAGE, USE AND MAINTENANCE notices contained in these instructions. We caution you not to place excess hardware in the plastic sleeve as it could present danger to a child if retrieved and it could also puncture the crib mattress. When storing toddler bed, use CAUTION as extreme temperature or humidity changes could be harmful. PERIODIC MAINTAINANCE: 1. Periodically check to make certain all screws are fastened securely. 2. Check frequently that the crib spring brackets attached to the spring frame are securely attached to stabilizer rails. 3. If you are missing a part or need a replacement part, do not use substitute parts. Ask your dealer for replacement parts or contact Customer Service at (276) 627-2100. 4. Save this instruction sheet in the event you disassemble the toddler bed and need to reassemble it.
