Removing the vehicle parts
Audio Model
3.
Remove the trim ring.
If the vehicle is M/T Model, go to step 4; if the vehicle is
A/T Model, go to step 8.

Squeeze the plastic clip and pull down on the shift
boot. Remove the shift knob by turning it
counterclockwise.

Customer Information: The information in this
installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled
technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and
training to correctly and safely add equipment to your
vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by
“do-it-yourselfers.”
1.
Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio,
then write down the frequencies for the preset
buttons.
2.
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

Gently pry up on the front of the trim ring to release
two clips, and lift the trim ring by releasing four clips.
7.
Disconnect the seat heater connectors (if equipped),
and remove the trim ring. Go to step 10.
10. Remove the dashboard center holder.
If the vehicle is equipped with the ashtray, go to step 14; if
not, go to step 11.
Without Ashtray
11. Open the coin pocket lid and remove the coin pocket
as shown.

12. Remove two self-tapping screws.

13. Gently pull out on the dashboard center holder to
release two retaining clips, disconnect the vehicle
connector, and remove the dashboard center holder.
Go to step 17.

With Ashtray
If the vehicle is equipped with cassette or multi-media
players, go to step 22; if not, go to step 17.
14. Open the lid and remove the ashtray.
15. Remove two self-tapping screws.
Without Cassette or Multi-Media Players
16. Gently pull out on two retaining clips, disconnect the
cigarette lighter harness connector, vehicle
connector, illumination bulb, and remove the
dashboard center holder.
17. Remove the pocket:

18. Apply a masking tape to the edge of the center
panel.
19. Remove two self-tapping screws.
20. Attach masking tape around the end of the hook
tool. Push on the bottom of the lid, then pull out on
the top by inserting the end of a hook tool between
the pocket and center panel, and pull it toward you to
release two retaining clips. When removing the
pocket, do not damage the lid.

(one hook and one clip for each cover). Go to step

22. Remove the cassette or multi-media players.
23. Attach the masking tapes to the instrument panel as
shown.
25. Remove four nuts fastening the player and the
pocket. Remove the player and the pocket by pulling
it out toward you, and disconnect the player bus
cable connector.

If the vehicle is equipped with Navigation, go to step 26; if
not, go to step 30.
26. Using a white plastic trim tool, push down and pull to
release the center clip, carefully insert a white plastic
trim tool into the slots (A) on both sides of the upper
cover, then pull out each side of the panel back to
disengage two clips.

27. Using a hook tool, reach inside the vent of the
dashboard upper cover and locate the small opening
on each side. Gently pull out on eight clips to release
the dashboard upper cover.
28. Remove the dashboard upper cover (two vehicle
clips and disconnect the vehicle connectors).

30. Remove the passenger’s under cover (three clips
and three pins).

34. Remove one screw from the adapter unit.
35. Install the adapter bracket B with one screw removed
(reuse) from the adapter unit. Install the adapter
bracket B at the correct position in the correct
orientation.
37. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly
clean the area where the cushion tape will attach.
Attach the cushion tape B cut in step 37 to the
adapter unit as shown.

clean the area where the cushion tape will attach.

40. Temporarily secure the adapter bracket A according
to the marks made in step 42 on the adapter unit with
two 5 x 8 mm bolts and two 5 mm plain washers.
41. Using a felt-tip pen, mark the adapter unit at the
indicated position.
42. Remove adapter bracket A temporarily secured in
step 44.

44. Using a felt-tip pen, mark the vehicle relay and holder
as shown. Remove the vehicle relay near the vehicle
relay holder as shown. Insert the flat-tip end of the
stubby to the vehicle relay holder, then remove the
vehicle relay holder from the vehicle bracket.
45. Reinstall the vehicle relays in the reverse order of
removal by aligning the marks.
46. Release the vehicle clip, and disconnect the vehicle
connector.

47. Remove two self-tapping screws on the side of the
heater unit.
49. Attach a masking tape to the Music Link harness at
the indicated position.
48. Install the adapter bracket A with two self-tapping
screws removed in step 51 and two 5 mm plain
washers to the heater unit.
50. Cut one urethane tape in half and attach one half of
the urethane tape to the Music Link harness.

vehicle harness with one wire tie.
58. Loosely secure the Music Link harness to the vehicle
harness with one wire tie at the position of the
masking tape attached in step 36.
60. Using an isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel,
horoughly clean the area where the cushion tape
will attach. Cut one cushion tape in half and attach
two pieces of the urethane tape to the edge part of
the vehicle bracket as shown.

63. Bundle the excess adapter unit harness so that it
does not come into contact with the right inner cover.
Secure the adapter unit harness to the vehicle
harness with two wire ties. Tighten two wire ties
loosely, move a bundle of the adapter unit harness
toward the front and then tighten the two wire ties
securely. Go to step 82.
66. Connect the bus cable 14-pin connector to the bus
cable 2-port 14-pin connector, and attach one
cushion tape to the bus cable 2-port 14-pin
connector. Secure the bus cable 2-port and bus
cable to the vehicle harness with the two wire ties.
67. Bundle the excess bus cable, and secure them to
the vehicle harness with two wire ties.

73. Connect the adapter unit 14-pin connector and the
other 14-pin connector to the bus cable 2-port
14-pin connector.
76. Connect the bus cable 2-port and antenna lead to
the navigation unit.

78. Reinstall the glove box to its original position and
store the Music Link harness.

79. Check that all wire harnesses are routed properly
and all connectors are plugged in.
80. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
81. Reinstall all removed parts.
82. Enter the customer’s radio anti-theft code, and reset
the radio station presets.
83. Turn the radio unit ON. Set mode to Honda Music
Link by pressing “CD” until display “CDC” or
“CD4” is shown on the radio display. Check that
the mode changes to the CD changer mode
properly (“CDC” or “CD4” is shown on the radio
display).
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected, the driver’s
window AUTO function is disabled.
• Start the engine. Push down on the driver’s window
switch until the window is fully open.
• Pull up on the driver’s window switch to close the
window completely, then hold the switch for 1 second or
more.
• Lower and raise the driver’s window to check operation
of the driver’s window AUTO function.
