The Precision 6.2 is the smallest floor-standing loudspeaker in
the Precision range. It is capable of delivering low bass and
effortless dynamics from a compact, small footprint cabinet. The
150 mm (6”) Precision Dual Concentric driver is accompanied
by a matched 150 mm (6”) bass driver in a rear-ported cabinet,
bringing additional scale and power to Precision’s signature
clarity and articulation. Ideal for small-to-medium sized rooms,
Precision 6.2 is supplied with a dedicated plinth and offers a
small Mass Loading Cavity (MLC) for fine-tuning of the bass
response.
The 29.3 litre Precision 6.2 cabinet is a compact floorstanding
design with sculpted curved side panels that dramatically reduce
internals standing waves and reflections. An innovative plinth
with top-adjust levelling and a mass loading cavity, that can be
filled or part filled with mineral aggregate to tune bass response
to your room, make this a fully featured cabinet design.
Extensive bracing, the use of Tannoy’s Differential Materials
Technology (DMT) to best couple the drivers to the cabinets, and hand-made crossovers, built onto low-resonant boards with
components also set into DMT, together deliver deep, rich yet incredible articulate and tactile sound.
The sumptuous curves and immaculate finishing detail of the precision 6.2 is complemented by the silver-colour drivers,
smooth trim rings that conceal driver mountings and subtle Tannoy branding. Around the back the luxury continues with
full wrap-around finish and a radial terminal panel. Unique to Tannoy this offers the opportunity for single or bi-wiring and a
fifth grounding terminal, all heavy duty gold plated terminals binding posts. Available in high gloss or satin dark walnut and
high gloss black, the Precision 6.2 looks as good as it sounds.WHAT HI-FI Review: - 5 STARS

Introduction - Precision
The Precision range combines Tannoy’s 85 years of loudspeaker design experience with modern high tolerance
manufacturing to deliver outstanding accuracy and musical articulation. This luxury loudspeaker range is based on a new 150
mm (6”) version of Tannoy’s world-renowned Dual Concentric driver with WideBand™ tweeter technology. Delivering
exceptional bandwidth with extremely low colouration this innovative point source driver ensures faithful reproduction of the
source information.
Precision cabinets are truly unique, mixing acoustic engineering and aesthetic beauty in equal measure. The curved side
panels reduce internal standing waves, reduce panel resonances and increase cabinet volume whilst still retaining a compact
footprint.
On the inside, precision engineering and precision performance is the root of this loudspeaker ranges’ name.
For the cabinet, heavyweight fibreboard construction, unique architecture, complex bracing, Tannoy’s proprietary Differential
Material Technology™ (DMT™) and a Mass Loading Cavity (MLC) draw heavily on Tannoy’s rich heritage in loudspeaker
design. Precision crossovers are hand-built and hard wired from the finest components.
From the real wood veneers and option of deep gloss lacquer finishes to the aluminium trims and unobtrusive branding, the
Precision range boasts premium design and finish throughout. Subtle dark-weave grilles with sub-surface magnetic fixings
ensure a smooth, contemporary look with the grilles on or off.
Drive Unit
The 150 mm (6”) Precision Dual Concentric driver represents the latest iteration of the technology and Tannoy’s most
articulate and powerful mid-sized ‘Dual’ to date. By placing the WideBand titanium tweeter at the heart of the rigid multi-fibre
bass cone, the design offers true point-source musical integrity and exceptional instrumental and vocal accuracy. The latest
‘Dual’ features Tannoy’s latest 25 mm (1”) titanium dome HF driver with WideBand technology and the company’s signature
Tulip WaveGuide. By carefully matching acoustic path lengths the Tulip Waveguide creates a perfectly spherical HF wave front,
resulting in reduced colouration and pinpoint stereo imaging.
The mid/low frequency cone is an ultra-rigid multi-fibre pulp material with a rubber roll surround and 44mm edge wound voice
coil, giving the most natural communication through the key mid-band frequencies. A powerful double magnet bass motor
system is used to enhance the focus of the magnetic field in the voice coil gap, giving the driver high sensitivity and outstanding
dynamic range. In Precision floor-standing models the Dual Concentric driver is augmented by active bass drivers and Auxiliary
Bass Radiators (ABRs) depending on model, using the same multi-fibre cone and double magnet system.
High-end touches including a crossover built with audiophile components throughout, silver plated high-purity copper cabling
and high-end speaker terminals with fifth ground terminal. Minute attention to detail including drivers mounted using Tannoy’s
Differential Materials Technology (DMT) further enhance Precision’s spacious and dynamic sound.
Construction
Drawing on Tannoy’s rich heritage in fine loudspeaker craftsmanship, Precision cabinets mate traditional acoustic engineering
with contemporary style and design. Flat front and rear baffles coupled with curved side panels reduce internal reflections and
brace the cabinet structure. This geometry minimises cabinet colouration, improving the clarity and communication of the
music. Moreover, the narrow front and rear baffles leads the eye to the illusion of a smaller loudspeaker, enabling Precision to
fit in with any lifestyle from city centre apartment to larger traditional homes. The range is available in satin and high gloss
walnut veneer, and high gloss black, depending on model.

Mass Loading Cavity (MLC)
A Mass Loading Cavity (MLC) has been engineered into the cabinets of the flagship floor-standing Precision models. The MLC
offers user-specified bass tuning by filling or part filling the sealed cavity with dry mineral aggregates or dedicated loudspeaker
ballast materials. Depending on room acoustics and flooring construction, loading the MLC can improve low frequency timing
information and enhance stereo imaging
Dedicated plinths
Precision floorstanding models are supplied with custom plinths designed to stabilise the loudspeaker and improve ground
coupling. Each plinth incorporates Tannoy’s easy-to-adjust floor spikes. Each metal bodied turret is mounted through the
plinth, allowing the spike height to be adjusted from above without need to tilt the speaker A large CNC machined thumb wheel
locks the spike in place for maximum rigidity. Dedicated spike cups are supplied to protect polished or marble floors.
