CREATING AND SCHEDULING A SESSION
Using your web browser, go to http://safari/pisd/edu
You should then be automatically logged in to Safari MONTAGE
Select VIDEO CONFERENCE,
CONFERENC E, INVITATIONS, SCHEDULE A SESSION
Please fill in the options highlighted on the next page. Items not highlighted are not mandatory and
generally not needed or used.

To add Participants or Moderators click on Invite By Individual and more options will appear on the screen

Enter Last Name in the Search box and desired participant will appear. Select desired
name. When Save selected an email will be automatically be sent to each participant
(see next page for a copy of a sample email)
If participant in not in PISD, select Add a New Address Book Entry and manually
enter the address.
All Moderators have equal
control over the video session.
Generally it is best to have one
moderator for a session.
Attendees assigned the role of
Participant are able to contribute
to the meeting fully – within the
parameters set by the
Moderator(s). For example,
Participants may broadcast audio
and video, provided the
Moderator approves; may
participate in Chat, etc.
Attendees assigned a role of
Observer may – as the name
suggests – observe the
session, but not participate.

THE COMPONENTS
WORKSPACE OPTIONS
When you enter a conference room,
you will notice a set of windows and a
title bar. These windows are interactive
units, categorized by their primary
function within the meeting. We refer
to
these
as
‘‘components

1. Each panel can be moved by

Participants. This workspace is perfect for a
traditional face to face video conference.
Focuses on Content Viewer, Audio/Video, Chat
and Participants. This is the default workspace
when you enter a session.
Focuses on Audio/Video, Chat, Participants,
and Shared Meeting Notes. Best for a meeting
using note-taking or agenda.
See how many people are attending the
session and who they are.
Chat
Users can chat to communicate with each other.
Conference
Used for live audio/video communication.
Content
Share
All content is shown in this window. You may
also show the whiteboard here.
4. Panels can be resized by clicking and dragging its resize
handle in the bottom right corner.
Notes
Session notes can be taken.
5. Panels can be closed by clicking the Close
Q&A
Allows you to selectively receive and answer
questions before publishing.
Poll
Create online questionnaires to make the
session more interactive and engaging.

Custom View creates the layout you prefer by
allowing you to drag, resize and collapse the
components as you would like.

make the option appear on the screen)

using the Microphone Icon in the lower
left of the Video Conference (mouse over

8. You can always add or remove components through the
Workspace menu on the title bar and checking or
unchecking the component names.
While in a room you can change the layout of the components
by going to Workspace on the title bar and choosing a
workspace view. Presentation View is default.
Note: If your screen gets ‘‘Messed Up’’ you can al\ways select
Workspace, Presentation View for your default view setting.
CONFERENCE ROOM FEATURES

RECORDING THE CONFERENCE
1. To start recording, click the Red record button
on the title bar. Enter a descriptive name for
your session and click
‘‘OK’’ (Example:
‘‘Campus - Teacher Last
Name --- Date --- Period
1’’). The window closes and the recording begins.
2. Click the slightly larger same red button to stop your
recording.
CONTENT SHARING
Open Screen Sharing by selecting the
button from Control Menu .
The first time you make this
selection you will need to install the
Screen Sharing Plugin on your
computer. You will need to close
your browser during the
installation. You may also need to
re-boot your computer (if asked).

Select Whiteboard

You can use the WhiteBoard features as needed.

Mouse over Whiteboard option and select the
small X close the whiteboard.

CHAT
1. Click in the white text box below the chat window, enter
your chat text and tap the enter key

Select Share My Screen or select the dropdown next to
Share My Screen and select what you want to share and
click the Start share

Minimize the Internet Explorer window. Others will be
able to see your screen exactly as you see it.

3. Click on the ‘Reply’ button to submit the answer and clear
the question from the list.
