Use this worksheet to collect necessary information for configuring your EMC® VNXeTM system using the following tools:
•
EMC Online Support web site: Provide account information and obtain an EMC Support account.
•
VNXe Connection Utility: Optionally, assign a static IP address to the VNXe management interface (by default a VNXe system
will obtain its management IP address from a DHCP server, if one is active on the network).
•
EMC UnisphereTM Configuration wizard: Configure initial system configuration settings.
Refer to the VNXe Quick Start poster for an installation overview and guidance about setting up and configuring your VNXe system.
Record the following settings to help configure your VNXe system:
Create an EMC Online
Support account
EMC support account
EMC Online Support account name:
First and last name associated with your EMC Online Support account.
Country:
Primary language:
Language preference for the account.
Email address:
Email address to receive product notifications and updates.
Password:
Password for your EMC Online Support account.
Security questions:
Security questions to validate your identity if your password is lost.
Log in
to Unisphere
Connect your system
System management address (VNXe Connection utility)
Note: Use this information if you want to assign a static IP address to the VNXe system management interface using the
VNXe Connection Utility.
VNXe system Product ID / SN:
System ID indicated on a tag on the back of the VNXe system (on the DPE component)
Use this ID in the Connection Utility in order to auto-discover a VNXe system on a subnet.
Name:
Name for the VNXe system. If the system acquired its IP address by means of DHCP, the
system serial number is used as the default name.
Management IP Address:
Management address through which Unisphere connects to the VNXe system.
Subnet:
IP subnet where the system will reside.
Gateway:
IP address of the default gateway for the management interface.

Login Information
Log in: When logging in for the first time, enter the default Unisphere username and password (case-sensitive):
• Default admin username: admin
• Default admin account password: Password123#
Note: When you log in for the first time, you must agree to accept a self-signed certificate for the VNXe system.

Initial Configuration Settings (Unisphere Configuration wizard)
Specify a new administrator account password and service account password.
You can choose to use the same password for the default administrator and service account.
Domain Name Servers
Network name or IP address of one or more DNS Servers:
Obtain DNS servers on the network:

Obtain DNS server addresses automatically (using DHCP)

Configure DNS server addresses manually: Enter specific IP addresses of specific
DNS servers on the network, or omit DNS server addresses.
For manual DNS server address assignment, record the IP address of DNS servers to
use on the network.

Note: If you do not configure a DNS server, you must enter IP addresses (network names)
for any VNXe setting that requires a network address. In addtion, the EMC Secure Remote
Support feature (ESRS), will not work if DNS is disabled.
Configure your system
Time Server
Network name or IP address of one or more NTP Servers:
Secondary NTP servers.
Note: Using an NTP server is important in conditions where network time variances are an
issue or when common network timing is important.

Choose whether to automatically configure system storage disks into standard pools.
If you do not accept this option, the Unisphere Disk Configuration wizard starts when the
Unisphere Configuration wizard closes. The Disk Configuration wizard enables you to
configure custom storage pools based on disk availability and application storage usage.
EMC Support credentials

Credentials associated with an EMC Online Support account. These credentials enable you
to access real time support contract information through Unisphere.
EMC Secure Remote Support Option
Enable EMC encrypted communication channel for enhanced proactive EMC support.
To learn more about the ESRS feature, go to the EMC Online Support web site, refer to the
EMC Secure Remote Support for VNXe Requirements and Configuration guide.
Click Show Advanced to configure an optional proxy server for routing outbound ESRS
message information to EMC.
Protocol: Communication protocol to use for communication with the proxy server.
Proxy Address: Proxy server network name or IP address for a proxy server

ConnectEMC Option
SMTP email server:
If you enable this option, provide the network name or IP address of an SMTP email server
for transferring alert messages through the EMC ConnectEMC feature.

Storage Server Settings
Storage Server Options
Choose Storage Server type:
• Create a Shared Folder Server for providing file-based storage resources.
• Create an iSCSI Server for providing block-based (iSCSI) storage resources.
Note: You cannot provision VNXe storage unless at least one Storage Server is configured.

Workgroup: Work group for users on the shared folder server.

storage resources, Hyper-V datastores, or VMware VMFS datastores.
