Overview

The VERIPATROL system supports the installation of the application on a single standalone computer or in a network server/client role. Two installation files are available to support each installation method. Installation instructions for each method are included below. Thank you for choosing VIEVU.

Installation Instructions

All VIEVU cameras MUST be assigned in the VERIPATROL Admin application before recording any video. Failure to assign a camera before recording video will prevent the videos from being downloaded. If you have any questions about the assigning process or VidLock security, please contact us.

System

STANDALONE INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

Requirements

1. Windows compatible computer with the following specifications: a) Operating System: Windows XP, Vista or 7. b) Processor: Pentium III or compatible - 1 GHz. c) Memory (RAM): 512 MB. d) Display with 1024 x 768 resolution or higher.

Note:

Use the ‘Video

Storage Calculator’ at www.vievu.com to estimate the amount of storage space required for your deployment.

2. Windows Media Player 10 or higher.

3. Display with 1024 x 768 resolution or higher.

4. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or higher.

5. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005.

6. 2 available USB ports.

7. Storage space sufficient to store the amount of video desired. *Does not apply to deployments that utilize the Cloud*

NETWORK INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

Note: The hardware requirements vary based on the number of concurrent connections, video retention period and the number of cameras. Contact

VIEVU if you need assistance selecting a server.

Domain

Server

1. The Server and Client workstations belong to the same Domain. The network installation cannot be performed without a Windows domain.

1. Operating System: Microsoft Server 2003 or 2008.

2. Database Program: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008.

3. Minimum hardware requirements sufficient to install SQL Server.

Please check with Microsoft for the current requirements for the version being installed and the number of concurrent connections.

4. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005.

5. Firewall exception for TCP Port 43690 and UDP Port 123. Add an exception for TCP 80 and TCP 443 if using VERIPATROL Cloud.

6. SQL Server configured to allow remote connections with Named

Pipes and TCP/IP enabled.

7. Local or Network storage space sufficient to store the amount of video desired. *Does not apply to deployments that utilize the Cloud*

Workstations

Standalone

STANDALONE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Installation

1. Download the “Standalone Single PC Install” application from http://www.vievu.com/veripatrolinstall .

2. Doubl e click on the file “VERIPATROL_Setup_2.3.21.exe” or click “run” on the file download window.

3. Click “I Agree” on the application license agreement after review.

4. Click the “Install” button.

5. The application installation will begin. The installation will take several minutes. Please be patient. If any errors are received, please contact VIEVU support for additional assistance.

6. A window will appear with instructions on contacting VIEVU to obtain a login

ID and password. Click “OK”.

7. Click “Yes” to restart the computer.

Network

NETWORK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Installation

*WARNING* - Before installing the server component on Server 2008, you must enable the “desktop experience” feature on the server. Failure to do so will cause system instability and failure to generate thumbnails. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947036

The VIEVU VERIPATROL application consists of 3 components (Server, Admin and Client). The Server and Admin applications will be installed on the server computer after the SQL instance has been created. The Admin and Client applications will be installed on the client workstations. The Xvid Codec and

Visual C++ 2005 redistributable must be installed on the server and all workstations.

Server Setup

1. Install an SQL named instance called “VIEVU”.

Note: A separate SQL

Instance is recommended for data isolation.

However, an existing instance can be used if desired.

2. Configure the VIEVU SQL Instance to allow remote network connections using named pipes and TCP/IP.

3. If a firewall product is used, add an exception for TCP port 43690 and

UDP port 123. If VERIPATROL Cloud is to be used also add an exception for TCP ports 80 and 443.

4. Download the Network Server Installation application from http://www.vievu.com/veripatrolinstall .

Note: If an existing instance is being used, you will receive the following error during installation:

‘Service VieVU

VERIPATROL Server failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services ’. Click the

‘Continue’ button and continue with the installation steps.

Note: If an existing instance is being used, type the instance name into the MS SQL Instance drop down. Select

‘default’ in the drop down if you are not using a named instance.

5. Install the VERIPATROL application. a. Extract the contents of the installation file. b. Open the VERIPATROL Software folder. c. Double click on “VERIPATROL_NetworkSetup_2.3.21.exe”. d. Click “Next” on the welcome screen. e. Accept the application license agreement after review and click

“Next”. f. Select the installation folder and click “Next”. g. Place a check next to the following components: Server and

Administrative Application. Click “Next”. h. Click “Next” to begin the installation. i. The installation complete window will appear. Place a check mark in “run Xvid Codec installation after finishing this wizard”.

Click “Close”. j. The Xvid setup wizard will appear. i. Click “Next”. ii. Accept the license agreement after review and click

“Next”. iii. Click “Next”. iv. Click “Next”. v. Click “Next”. vi. Add a check mark to “Decode all supported FourCCs” and click “Next”. vii. Click “Install”. viii. Click “Finish”.

6. Configure the VERIPATROL server using the Server Configuration application. a) Launch the Server configuration application located in

START>All Programs> VIEVU Veripatrol. b) Change the “MS SQL Instance” drop down box to “VIEVU”. c) Set the “Port to Listen” to “43690”. This is the port workstations will use to connect to the server. d) Click the “Date/Time” button to input proxy server information for internet access if required. e) Click “Apply”. f) Click “Yes” to restart the VERIPATROL server services. The physical server will not be restarted. g) If the configuration was successful a “Server is Restarted” message will appear. Click "OK ”. h) Click “Quit”.

Note: If you are having trouble connecting to the server, try switching from IP address to machine name or vice versa.

Note: If the computer default address/port is not being replicated across all users, verify that the user who is updating the default is an administrator on the computer or has permissions to change the HKLM section of the registry.

Workstation Setup

1. Install the VERIPATROL Application. a) Extract the contents of the installation file. b) Open the VERIPATROL Software folder. c) Double click on “VERIPATROL_NetworkSetup_2.3.21.exe”. d) Click “Next” on the welcome screen. e) Accept the application license agreement after review. f) Select the installation folder and click “Next”. g) Place a check next to the following components: Administrative

Application and/or Client Application. Click “Next”. h) Click “Next” to begin the installation. i) The installation complete window will appear. Place a check mark in “run Xvid Codec installation after finishing this wizard”.

Click “Close”. j) The Xvid setup wizard will appear. i. Click “Next”. ii. Accept the license agreement after review and click

“Next”. iii. Click “Next”. iv. Click “Next”. v. Click “Next”. vi. Add a check mark to “Decode all supported FourCCs” and click “Next”. vii. Click “Install”. viii. Click “Finish”. ix. Install the VERIPATROL Application.

2. Configure the Admin application to connect to the server. a) Launch the Admin application. b) On the server connection window input the server address and port (43690). IP address or machine name are acceptable. Do not include any slashes in the address. Place a checkmark in

“Update Computer Default Address/Port” to replicate the address/port change to all users of the computer. c) Click “Connect”.

3. Configure the Client application to connect to the server a) Launch the Client application. b) On the server connection window input the server address and port (43690). IP address or machine name are acceptable. Do not include any slashes in the address. Place a checkmark in

“Update Computer Default Address/Port” to replicate the address/port change to all users of the computer. c) Click “Connect”.
