Our in-house workshops are capable of dealing with any make or type of instrument, restoring them to manufacturers’ specification; all issued with ISO 9001:2008 certification on completion. We will collect and deliver to your site or office and leave a replacement instrument, if necessary.

Leasing allows resources to be saved for other purposes, such as new business opportunities, unexpected needs, business development or marketing. Money is kept ‘in the business’ rather than in depreciating assets. It may also be possible to tailor the timing of the payments to suit expected cash flow including seasonal cash flow circumstances.

BUDGET OUTGOINGS

Medium term planning: Payments will be known at the outset.

These can be monthly or quarterly. The finance will be secure for the term of the agreement; it cannot be recalled early like a bank overdraft. The payments are also fixed for the length of the term, which enables easier forecasting of cash flow.

Due to the nature of the tax advantages of leasing (i.e. the full rental costs being offset against profit), and taking into account the opportunity cost of investment, the lease will usually work out cheaper than if the asset were bought for cash.

TOPCON AT-B

AUTOMATIC LEVELS

The AT-B product line-up is streamlined to make users’ choices as simple as possible. The three models will satisfy all levels of requirements from surveying to engineering, from use in open field to underground.

The compensator of AT-B series incorporates four suspension wires made of extremely high-tensile metal that features minimal thermal expansion coefficient, providing unmatched durability and accuracy even in the harshest environmental conditions. A finely tuned magnetic damping system quickly levels and stabilizes the line of sight despite the fine vibrations present when working near heavy equipment or busy roadways.

The AT-B series can focus on objects at 20cm (7.9in.) in front of the telescope, while previous models provided 50cm or 1m (1.6ft. or 3.3ft.) minimum focusing distance. This feature dramatically facilitates work in confined spaces.

With an IPx6 rating, the instrument is protected against powerful water jets from all directions, meaning the AT-B series withstands a sudden shower or torrential rainfall. The advanced design not only prevents water penetration, but also deters clouding or condensation inside the telescope.

Since the introduction of the first auto level AT model in 1961, Topcon has been a world leader of auto level technology for over 50 years. Topcon has released a new range of invar, aluminium and wooden bar code staves suitable for use with the Topcon DL-500 digital level series. Designed specifically to be used with the DL-500, the new range of staves feature the

RAB (RAndom-Bidirectional) bar coding technology which enables the level to automatically detect whether it is in the normal position or inverted, as well as enable the ‘rock and read’ functionality.

The new invar staves’ graduations are engraved within the external coating by an interferometrically controlled laser beam, ensuring superior graduation accuracy and edge sharpness. Random graduation errors on the invar staves are less than ±0.005 mm.

CONFINED SPACES TRAINING

The course provides delegates with the basic skills and knowledge to manage and supervise work in confined spaces and to make them aware of the risks and the current legal obligations involved in such workplaces.

National Occupational Standards (NOS) have been agreed and set for all major occupations and if achieved, demonstrate an individual’s competency to a nationally agreed standard. These are used by

Industry Lead Bodies (ILB) such as Energy and Utility Skills, in conjunction with Trade bodies such as

Water UK, to devise training and assessment programmes.

There are two basic types of machine control systems. Indicate systems, also known as manual systems, allow the user to monitor visual grade information and adjust the elevation of the blade accordingly. PLS

CROSSLINE LASERS

Lay out reference points faster than traditional methods using PLS crossline lasers, which project a perfectly aligned horizontal vertical beam onto any surface.

The tough and compact PLS-2 is a self-levelling professional line laser and is perfect for any application that requires a vertical plumb or horizontal level.

The more advanced PLS-180 features a high-power beam that is easy to work with even in bright sunlit areas; this high beam power also slightly increases the lasers working range.

Another advantage is that the PLS-180 projects a horizontal and vertical beam on a direct 90 degree angle from the very front of the laser, not a few feet forward as in most other lasers.

Wood or Aluminium?

Surveyors prefer to use wooden tripods because of the superior material properties. In comparison to aluminium tripods, wooden tripods feature a better damping behaviour and are less affected by temperature changes. Topcon can then review if the total station has any error codes from the day before, what firmware version is installed, as well as the total station location. Topcon is providing 3 years worth of telematics at no charge to the customer for this data.

Hybrid Positioning™ simply requires an incoming position from a GNSS receiver. This receiver can be a local RTK base/rover combination, a MAGNET

Relay rover, or a Network RTK rover. Depending on the accuracy of the GNSS position, different levels of hybrid performance will be seen.

Reflective targets work with most EDM’s for monitoring work where you have to leave targets in position over long periods of time. These self adhesive bright yellow targets can easily be seen in daylight and each target can give a measuring range of over 100m with millimetre accuracy. SIGNAL APPLICATION TECHNIQUES

The SGA2 / SGV2 offers three alternative ways to apply a Signal Generator signal:

The SGA2 / SGV2 has a One Watt Power Output to provide long distance tracing. The SGV2 has a four position power level adjustment. The SGA2 can be toggled between a high

& low setting. So that the user can control how much power to use and when.

LOUDSPEAKER

The SG2 / SGV2 have a clear audible signal output to indicate when it is in operation. There is also the facility to mute the audio if required.

PULSED OR CONTINUOUS SIGNAL OUTPUT

The SGA2 / SGV2 offer the choice of a Pulsed or Continuous signal output enabling operators to switch to the Pulsed

Cable Avoidance expertise to enable operators to find more buried utilities, faster.

The C.A.T4 Avoidance Mode™ lets the operator check an intended excavation area for Power, Radio and Genny4 signals, and pinpoint located utilities, in a single scan.

The bargraph ‘tidemark’ enables the user to quickly spot and zero-in on a buried conductor.

The Genny4 provides a simultaneous dual-frequency signal output. Alongside the familiar 33 kHz signal for general purpose locates, the Genny4 transmits a specialised Small

Diameter Locate frequency which facilitates location of utilities such as telecoms and street lighting, including spurs.

For difficult locates, the Signal Boost function enables the Genny4 signals to travel further and deeper, and couple onto utilities more easily.

C.A.T4’s Dynamic Overload Protection feature automatically filters out high levels of interference, allowing operators to continue working even in electrically noisy areas such as substations and under high-voltage cables – and requires no input from the operator.

Data Acquisition / Logging

On-board memory allows over a year’s worth of data2 to be stored on eC.A.T4 and gC.A.T4 series products. This data can be backed-up to a PC at any time, giving virtually unlimited record keeping for the life of the product. Retrieved data can be analysed, either locally or remotely, to aid in ensuring compliance and identifying training requirements.

NOISE METER

The CR:306 is a general purpose digital sound level meter which meets the full requirements of

IEC 61672 to Class 2.

Ideal for basic noise surveys and can be used for measurements such as workplace spot checks, fire alarms and audible warning systems as well as the installation of sound systems. In applications where a Sound Level

REBAR DETECTOR

Rebar location, cover measurement and rebar diameter measurement all provided by a single, fully integrated, cordless one-handed instrument.

Profoscope has a unique real-time rebar-visualization allowing the user to actually “see” the location of the rebar beneath the concrete surface. This is coupled with rebar-proximity indicators and optical and acoustical locating aids combine to make the task of locating rebars simple and efficient.

ELECTRISCANNER V5

The ElectriScanner™ V5 locator finds and traces the path of live hidden wires. It pinpoints wires behind walls using a unique “dynamic calibration” which constantly re-adjusts and self-corrects during scanning, this allows the V5 to “learn the wall” and eliminate false positives to find live wires under almost any circumstance.

It will locate live wires (not shielded by metal) behind standard construction walls in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Scan depth is typically

102mm although this can vary depending upon placement of wires, wire voltage, humidity, and the composition of the material you are scanning through.

Auto mode will detect a strong electrical signal and disregard weaker signals in order to home in on the strongest. In Manual mode it reports all results and will not disregard weaker signals (a low voltage wire, like a doorbell wire or landscape lighting wires). In Manual mode the tool will indicate the direction of the strongest signal nearby at any given time, even if it has encountered stronger signals before.

The GE Protimeter Moisture Detection Range is at the forefront of its field and is widely used by professionals involved with the identification, management and remedy of dampness to identify the extent of the moisture penetration and diagnose the cause of the problem. MINI MOISTURE METER

The Protimeter Mini can be used for making rapid moisture assessments in a wide range of building materials including wood, masonry, drywall, plaster and concrete.

The measuring pins are small and sharp which means measurements can be taken at the surface with virtually no mark left behind. The numerical values represent the actual percent moisture content of wood (%MC). The Protimeter

Mini can be used to determine if the fabric of a building is in a dry, borderline or damp condition.

An external probe and lead is supplied as standard for taking readings in awkward positions. Optional accessories include a hammer electrode for determining moisture gradients in wood and deep wall probes which are useful accessories when investigating the cause of the moisture problems within buildings.

PROTIMETER

AQUANT MOISTURE METER

The Protimeter Aquant is used to assess and monitor the relative moisture level of building materials including plaster, drywall, masonry, concrete and fiberglass (GRP).

It is ideal for checking the relative moisture condition of building elements such as solid walls and floors prior to more rigorous and time-consuming investigative procedures that may be required. The Aquant can be used to detect the presence of moisture behind floor and wall coverings such as ceramic tile and vinyl floor coverings.

A digital display and colour-coded LED scale show the relative moisture level of the material under investigation. Relative moisture levels are measured by holding the aquant against a surface to allow the radio frequency to penetrate to a nominal depth of 10-20mm, meaning there are no needles to mark the surface.

The SurveyMaster moisture meter combines the functions of the Mini and Aquant models allowing the user to distinguish sub-surface from surface moisture, essential information when trying to establish the extent and cause of a dampness problem.

SurveyMaster is a moisture meter that displays the moisture level values on a digital display alongside a scale of colour-coded lights. The combined presentation of moisture measurement helps the user to map the extent of problems and monitor changes in condition precisely and reliably.

PROTIMETER

HYGROMASTER MOISTURE METER

The HygroMaster is a hand-held instrument for taking spot measurements and for logging humidity and temperature values. Quick measurements of relative humidity, dew point, mixing ratio and ambient temperature are shown on a split display at the touch of a button. Surface temperature measurements can also be measured with an optional surface temperature sensor.

A data-logging mode can measure temperature trend analysis if the instrument is left in place for a period of time, the memory contents can then be downloaded to a PC using optional software and displayed in tabular and graphical form.

Two types of humidity probes are offered for use with the HygroMaster, the Hygrostick and the HumiStick.

The HygroStick in optimised for measuring humidity in the 30-100% RH range and may be used with

Protimeter humidity sleeves for measuring the relative humidity of solid walls and floors. The HumiStick is a fast responding sensor with a range of 1-100% RH making it more suitable for general air quality applications such as dehumidifiers and HVAC systems.

The Protimeter Moisture Measurement System (MMS) is a complete moisture measurement device for use in many different building related industries.

The angle setting vial rotates through 360° with graduations in 5° increments. The PlanWheel SA2 is the perfect tool for taking accurate scaled measurements from blueprints, maps and plans. Just select the built-in scale factor to match the plan and roll the PlanWheel.

SCALEX SA2

The Scalex SA2 has 111 built-in and thousands of available user-defined Metric & Imperial scale factors measuring in inches, feet, yards, miles, centimetres, metres and kilometres. Calculate auto-scale factor from reduced enlarged or odd-scale drawings and square and cubic dimensions for regular areas and volumes. Buttons on probe tip let you count items or add fixed lengths as you scale. Create, store and retrieve 2 user-defined scale factors. When user the SA2 a clear audible tone indicates wheel movement and a plus/minus (+/-) mode allows user to simply back-up to deduct an over-rolled measurement.

Accuracy is ±0.25% with a resolution of 1.0mm.

A simple yet accurate device for monitoring crack movement. This inexpensive system consists of two acrylic plates which move independently of each other, one has cross hairs and the other a correlating grid. Attached using screws, an adhesive or even a combination of both, the cross hairs will move across the grid indicating crack movement.
