Frequently asked questions

The EGT probe should be placed at a distance of 2 to 4 inches from the exhaust flange. The TIT probe should be placed approximately 4 inches from the Turbine inlet on the wastgate side of the turbine.

Lycoming recommends running peak EGT only at 75% power or less, while Continental recommends running peak EGT at 65% power or less.

Press the LF button to activate Lean Find Mode. The EGT-701 display will begin blinking for the cylinder with the highest exhaust gas temperature. Continue leaning the mixture as recommended by the aircraft manufacturer while observing the primary engine instruments and the EGT-701 display. Once the leaning procedure is complete, briefly press the Step button to exit Lean Find Mode and return to Monitor Mode.
