RESETTING THE SYSTEM
If your MP3 player won’t turn on, won’t play music, or isn’t recognized by your
computer when you connect it, you may have to reset the system.
Press the Reset hole at the rear of the
player with a pointed object such as a

ƒ Your settings and files will not be affected.

ƒ Do not press the Microphone hole with a pointed object, as it will damage the

Tap on the touch button with your fingertip.

CARING FOR THE BATTERY
Your battery will last longer if you follow these simple guidelines for caring and
storing the player.
• Recharge the battery within the temperature range of 40°F~95°F (5°C~35°C).
• Do not overcharge (longer than 12 hours).
Excessive charging or discharging may shorten the battery’s life.
• Battery life naturally shortens slowly over time.
NOTE
ƒ If you are charging the player while it is connected to a laptop computer, make sure
the laptop’s battery is also fully charged or that the laptop is plugged into its power
source.
ƒ The battery is charged when the PC is active or idle.
It is not charged when the PC is in standby, hibernation or shutdown modes.

ƒ Your MP3 player will be automatically turned off when none of the buttons have
been pressed for a specific length of time in the pause mode. The factory setting for
<Auto Power Off> is 1 minute, but you can change this length of time. See page 26
for more information.

CONTROLLING THE VOLUME
You can adjust the volume while a file is playing back.
Tap the [Up,Down] button.
ƒ The volume range is set between 0 to 30.
DISABLING THE BUTTONS
The Hold function disables all the other buttons on the MP3 player, so that if
you accidentally bump one-while working out, for example-your music won’t be
interrupted.

BROWSING FOR FILES USING “FILE BROWSER”
Search easily for files using the “File Browser” function.
1. Select the
icon on the main menu screen.
2. Select a desired folder to bring up the file list.
3. Select a desired file.
ƒ The file will start playing.
NOTE
ƒ <My Pack> of <File Browser> is where DNSe files transferred
by <EmoDio> are stored. For further information on DNSe, refer to <myDNse>
ĺ <DNSe (Digital Natural Sound engine)> in the Help section of the <EmoDio>
software.
DELETING FILES WITH “FILE BROWSER”
Follow steps 1-2 above.
3. Select the file that you want to delete and tap [
].
4. Select <Delete File> ĺ <Yes>.
ƒ The file will be deleted.
ƒ The selected file cannot be deleted while it's playing back.
NOTE
ƒ Once files are deleted, they cannot be recovered.

Your MP3 player comes with settings and preferences that were set up at the
factory, but you can change these pre-set values to truly customize your player.
1. Select the

Sound Setting Options
You can set the master EQ, beep sound and volume limit.
ƒ Master EQ: You can optimize sound settings. Select the
desired frequency and its level. The frequencies that can
be adjusted are <60Hz>, <150Hz>, <400Hz>, <1.1kHz>,
<3.5kHz>, <8kHz>, and <14kHz>.
ƒ Beep Sound : Sets the beep sound for button operations
to on or off. Select either <Off> or <On>.
ƒ Volume Limit : You can avoid hearing damage by setting
the volume limit when using the earphones. <On> will limit
the maximum volume level to 15.
The maximum volume level when the volume limit is set to
<Off> is 30. If you have selected over 15, the volume will
default back to 15 when you turn the player off to decrease
the risk of hearing damage when you turn the player back on.

Display Setting Options
Change the menu design, font, display off and brightness of your
screen, etc.
ƒ Menu Design: You can change the style of the main menu
screen. Select either <Matrix> or <String>.
ƒ Font: You can change the font type of the menu
language. Select one of 3 font types. With Simplified
Chinese,Traditional Chinese and Thai menu languages, the
<Font> will not appear.
ƒ Reset My Skin: Initializes the background image of the
display screen to its default image. Select <Yes> to reset
the background image.
ƒ Display Off Time: If no button is tapped within the set time
shown below, the screen display will automatically be turned
off. Select from <15sec>, <30sec>, <1min>, <3min>, <5min>
and <Always On>. Press any button to turn it back on.
ƒ Brightness : You can adjust the brightness of the display
screen. Select a level from <0-10>, where 10 is the
brightest.

the available languages. You can change your preferred language easily.

Choose the sleep timer, auto power off and default setting that’s right
for you.
ƒ My Info: You can set your name and birth date.
See page 28.
ƒ Sleep : Turns off power automatically after the preset time.
Select either <Off>, <15min>, <30min>, <60min>, <90min>
or <120min>.
ƒ Auto Power Off : Automatically turns power off when the
unit is in Pause mode and there is no button operation
within the preset time. Select either <15sec>, <30sec>,
<1min>, <3min>, <5min> or <Always On>.
ƒ Library Update: If a file name is displayed abnormally,
select <Library Update> to correct the file name.
ƒ PC Connection : You can set USB connection to the PC
to either <MTP> or <MSC>. The default (factory) setting of
PC connection is set to <MTP>. Selecting <MSC> will use
the player as a removable storage device. See page 29.
ƒ Default Set : Returns all settings to the default value. Select either <Yes> or
<No>. <Yes> initializes all settings to default. <No> cancels default settings.
ƒ Format : Formats the internal memory. Selecting <Yes> will format the internal
memory and delete all files on the player. Selecting <No> does not format the
internal memory. Check before formatting it.
ƒ User Button Mode : You can check or set the function of the [
each mode. See page 31.

entire files.
ƒ Firmware - Displays the current firmware version.
ƒ Demo Mode: If you set it to <On>, the player repeats playing the sample clip in
the video folder. If there is no sample clip, <Demo Mode> will not be shown.
NOTE
ƒ Regarding the Built-In Memory
1GB=1,000,000,000 bytes : actual formatted capacity may be less as the
internal firmware uses a portion of the memory.

When the pc connection is set to <MSC>
Using as a removable disk
You can use the player as a removable storage device.
ƒ Before you start - Connect the player to your PC.
1. Open files/folders to transfer on
your PC.
2. Open <My Computer> <Q2> on
the desktop.
3. Select the files/folders to transfer
from your PC and drag-and-drop
them to a folder of your choice in the
<Q2>.
ƒ The selected folders or files are transferred to the
player.
CAUTION
NOTE
ƒ The file transfer message will appear during file download or upload.
Disconnecting the USB cable while the message is displayed may cause a
player malfunction.
ƒ The order of music files displayed in your PC may differ from the play order
on your player.
ƒ If you transfer a DRM (Digital Rights Management) file to the player, the file
will not be played.
ƒ Video files should be transferred to the player using <EmoDio>.
ƒ What is DRM?
Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a technology and service to prevent
the illegal use of digital contents and protect the profit and rights of copyright
holders. DRM files are music files applied with copy protection technology.

Disconnecting from your PC
Follow the steps below to prevent damage to the player and data when
disconnecting from your PC.

EmoDio is a software application provided for this MP3 player for various
content-related services as well as device support.
ƒ Before you start - Follow the quick start guide to install EmoDio.
Connect the player to your PC.
<EmoDio> will automatically start when the player is connected
to your PC.
If the program does not start automatically, double-click the

USING EMODIO
EmoDio is the easy-to-use software application that helps you organize your
files on your PC. With your files already sorted and organized in EmoDio, you
can quickly transfer them to your MP3 player without searching your entire hard
drive for the right file.
“EmoDio” file transfer is the easiest way to get files from your PC to your
MP3 player.
With “EmoDio”, you can create your own collection, or album, of audio
files.
You can transfer blog information and files registered on RSS to the player
for your entertainment.
It’s an online community service for EmoDio.com users. It provides simple
and easy upload / download of content produced by using EmoDio and
ways to share your stories with other users in the community.

top of the <EmoDio> program.

ƒ Do not disconnect the USB cable during file transfer. Disconnecting during transfer
may damage the player or your PC.
ƒ To avoid an unstable connection, connect the player to the computer directly rather
than through a USB hub.

ƒ Artists: To play by artist.
ƒ Albums: To play by album. Tap [ ] to select a <List Type>. Select <Album Art> to view
both the album cover image and the album title simultaneously or select <List>

If you’ve already downloaded files to your MP3 player, you can create a
“Favorites” playlist without EmoDio or your PC.
To delete a Playlist
1. Select the

You can set 3 different user DNSe on the player or up to 97 in the
EmoDio software for transfer to the player. This enables you to make and

ƒ EQ: You can adjust individual frequencies to set the sound to your preference.
The frequencies that can be adjusted are <60Hz>, <150Hz>, <400Hz>, <1.1KHz>,
<3.5KHz>, <8KHz>, <14KHz> and the selected frequency’s level can be set from
<–10 ~ +10>.
ƒ 3D&BASS: Sets 3D sound effect and bass enhancement. You can select from <0 ~ 4>
for the <3D> and <BASS>.
ƒ Concert Hall: You can adjust the concert hall size and the level as if you are listening
to music in a real concert hall. You can select from <0 ~ 3> for the <Size> and <Level>.
ƒ Clarity: You can enjoy clearer sound with improved quality. You can select from <0 ~ 2>.
