THE POWERFUL SUPERMAN™ PINBALL GAME
SUPERMANT flies into action as the powerful
force in Atari's newest pinball attraction. The game
has a magnetic appeal with its dynamic SUPERMAN
character theme and play features. The eye-catching
graphics capture the universal hero taking off to bat-
tle evil. Within this adventurous scene the player
can experience the fast action, challenge and thrills
of the SUPERMAN pinball game.
Spectacular new play features are introduced with
this game. Central drop targets with a rotating
bonus light to award five times the score with an ex-
plosion of sounds make an extra challenging skill
shot. A new S-action return entry at the top of the
left spinner lane gives players 5,000 points and
a new chance to achieve the 1-2-3-4 lanes for
double or triple bonus. Targets at strategic
points on the playfield spell out
S-U-P-E-R-M-A-N with a ball-to-ball
memory adding suspense to the
play action and an opportunity
for 30,000 or 50,000 points.
SUPERMAN pinball fea-
tures two distinctly challeng- E
ing ways to earn ““Extra Ball" -
or “Special”. A combination
of drop targets and a variable
score kickout hole allows for
one high score and reward
strategy. The spellout targets
also give a chance for the op-
timum players' goal. This is a
favorite feature due to the
players' double opportunity to
obtain their ultimate objec-
tives.
The latest advances in elec-
tronic technology have been included
in the SUPERMAN pinball to provide
even higher reliability for operators.
New features have been added to the
built-in self-test system to allow
technicians to troubleshoot the game
even more thoroughly on location. The
high score to date is now displayed in
the attract mode to give players an ex-
tra challenge.
“The introduction of the SUPER-
MAN pinball follows many months of
testing for optimum play features and
electronic reliability,'” reported Frank
Ballouz. “This game certainly sur-
passes all and lives up to the heroic im-
age of its theme.” The momentum
builds each time a player projects the
steel ball onto the explosive playfield.
A masterful combination of targets
and play features has an intriguing at-
traction for players of all skill levels.
The SUPERMAN pinball brings a
new dimension of strength and impact
to pin games. It is a game that will
once again demonstrate Atari's leader-
ship in amusement game innovations.

HAIR EST
ATARI OFFERS
Plan now for a sensational HER-
CULESTM introduction party. It could
be the gala event of the year to set the
stage for your new major attraction,
“The Biggest Pinball Game”.
1t will be a fabulous way to start the
summer season. To maximize the
benefits, it could be done as a charity
fund raising for a local cause. With
several other businesses joining in to
sponsor the party, the HERCULES in-
troduction could be posed as a ‘‘social-
charity event not to be missed’’.
Special invitations sent to major
community organizations, local per-
sonalities and the press will emphasize
the impact of the event. An admission
charge (to charity) could be used and
each person given special tokens or
colored coins to play on the colossal
new game. Of course, the high scorer
of the day should win a prize.
A special HERCULES introduction
party will help give it the proper atten-
tion in the news media. It should
assist in attracting new players to a
location as well as being excellent
public relations.
HERCULES, the biggest pinball
game, is available by special order
through Atari distributors. Orders will
be delivered in late spring. This will be
a limited product—order now to
assure timely delivery of this sensa-
tional game.
SUPERMAN* T-SHIRTS
Colorful T-shirts with the famous
Superman * shield on the front and the
Atari logo on the back can now be
ordered through Atari distributors.
These popular shirts make excellent
promotional prizes, giveaways, or can
be offered for sale to players.

TECHNICAL TIPS
Testing Power Supplies with CTF-1
Using the variable power supplies on
Atari's test fixture, CTF-1, you can
duplicate the exact conditions of the
PCB in the game. This is an advantage
when testing for faulty regulated
power supplies. To implement this
test, first take the voltage measure-
ment in the game before the AC signal
is rectified. Adjust the variacs on the
CTF-1 unit to that AC voltage. This will
simulate the actual power conditions
of the game. Hum-bars appearing on
the built-in video monitor indicate a
probable power supply problem.
Superman Advantage (continued)
* New Battery Back-up Memory -
allows a consistent total accoun-
ting system even with power off.
Uses standard AA batteries for
universal availability.
e Relocated power supply - in the
backbox for easier service access.
¢ New cabinet design - insures fast,
easy set-up and service with the
backbox hinged to the body and
no electrical connections to make.
(Just plug it in.)
e Newly designed outhole-kicker
-assures highest reliability.
* Optional Electro-Mechanical
Meter Drivers - may be added for
convenience and security of meter
retention.
These are just a few of the sensa-
tional new quality additions on this
dynamic game. The SUPERMAN pin-
ball will prove to be the top game in
operating features, as well as having
optimum play appeal.
