VT250
The controller integrated in the VT250
operates on the basis of the IEC 61131 approved CoDeSys programming software,
version 3. All standard programming lan-
guages such as LD, FBD, IL, ST and SFC are
available. Not only real object-oriented
PLC programming but also all supported
fieldbuses are configurable via CoDeSys.

QVIS is the software environment used
for visualization in the VT250 series. QVIS
and CoDeSys are closely linked to ensure
an easy symbol import for data exchange.
Pure visualization solutions are implementable with further drivers provided
by QVIS for the most common control systems (MPI, RFC1006, DF1, …).

Operator interfaces and PLC VT250
The HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) of
the VT250 family combine the operating
and visualization functions with integrated
PLC functionality as required. Therefore
they can be operated either as a combined HMI PLC or as a pure HMI device.
VT250 devices are equipped with a 5.7”
QVGA-TFT color touch screen at the
front and feature protection class IP65.
The compact plastic housing measures
212 x 156 x 50 mm and can be mounted
even in confined spaces.
Master or slave
TURCK’s HMI series VT250
features not only visualization and control functions,
it can also be applied as a
gateway between fieldbus
and real-time Ethernet.
For this purpose the VT250
supports numerous fieldbus
and Ethernet protocols.
Special features: The device
can be programmed as master or slave. A PROFIBUS-DP system for example can work as a
peripheral master and at the same
time exchange data as a slave with
higher level controllers via PROFINET
or Modbus TCP. This is achieved on the
basis of a VT250 control system.
■ Fieldbus port master or slave
Smart details
The slot for the SD memory card as
well as the buffer battery are located at the backside of the device.
Both are accessible from the top.
The battery can thus be replaced without tools, if required. The
fieldbus port is configurable either
as CAN port with DeviceNet™ resp.
CANopen or as PROFIBUS port.
Recessed arrangement of the plugs
on the backside protects against mechanical impacts and ensures that the
connection cable is routed in the same
direction as all other cables.
Connection options
Two real-time Ethernet ports at the bottom of the VT250 are available for communication with the higher level control
systems. Thanks to the double port solution the device can also be applied in an
Ethernet installation arranged in line topology.
A USB and a COM port for RS232 and
RS485 round off the spectrum of connection possibilities. Peripheral devices such
as a barcode reader and a light screen for
example can be connected to the local
control process via the COM port.
