Connection Speeds
What to Expect
✔ Check your connection speed at:
http://speedtest.actrix.co.nz
Wi-Fi Speed
Even the fastest Wi-Fi routers on the market today might not be able to pass data as quickly as your
internet connection; this is especially true with VDSL and Ultra-Fast Broadband.
Plug in direct to your router when possible to get the best possible speeds. Distance to the router from
your device also plays a significant role in the speeds you will achieve.
Wi-Fi Standards – 802.11
Not all Wi-Fi is created equal, and if your computer or device has older hardware you may see a
decreased level of wireless performance. Look for products which support at least 802.11n, which is
capable of up to 50mbps.
What’s My Connection Capable Of?
Your internet connection type will play a key role in your overall online experience.
UFB Ultra Fast Broadband | Up to 200mbps
VDSL Very Fast DSL | Up to 50mbps
ADSL Basic DSL | Up to 24mbps
Other Speed Factors
Actual performance can vary due to a variety of conditions.
Public congestion: If the website or server you are accessing is busy, for example, you may notice a
slowdown despite your connection performing properly.
Within the home: More people online simultaneously from within your home can result in slower speeds,
especially with video-based applications such as YouTube® and Skype®
