Set the radio to communicate with a repeater at 145.470- MHz, 100.0 Hz

Turn on the radio and make sure it’s unlocked

Press V/M once or tw ice until the display
reads VFO in the upper-left

Set the frequency

M ON/F - TX (repeat until L1, L2, L3 disappear)

Set the tone type
M ON/F - 8 - M AIN - TONE

If the ‘–‘ sign appears at the top, skip to step 6

M ON/F - 0

Set the tone
Rotate the DIAL knob one click to TONE SET
(item 2) - BAND - M AIN - 100.0 - PTT
Your radio is now set to transm it as specified
Go to ARS (item 5) and set the auto repeater
shift
M AIN - ON - PTT
Store and name the current repeater and tone settings in a memory channel

Follow the procedure above to set your radio
for the frequency of your choice
1.
Press and hold M ON/F
2.
Rotate the outer DIAL knob to select the
channel to store your frequency in. (You have
five seconds to store the frequency.)

Get into the menu
M ON/F - 0

Go to NAME SET (item 11)
7.
Press BAND once to enter Edit mode
8.
Press M AIN or one of the keyboard keys to
select the first character, then rotate the outer
DIAL knob to m ove to the next character
9.
Press PTT to save the nam e
Press M ON/F to store the frequency
The frequency is now stored in radio memory
4.
Press V/M to enter M emory mode, then select
the channel you want named
Recall a stored memory setting
1.
Press V/M once or tw ice until the display reads MR
2.
Turn the knob until you reach the desired channel
The stored channel is now ready for use
The stored m em ory channel now has a name
Set the radio to communicate at 146.740 MHz simplex
Note: the Yaesu VX-7R will automatically turn off
repeater offsets if its current frequency falls
within the simplex ranges of the ARRL Band Plan
and the ARS (menu item 5) setting is ON. So, if
the simplex frequency you select is outside these
ranges, you must first set ARS to OFF.

If neither the + nor – sign appears at the top,
skip to step 5

Get into the menu

Turn on the radio and make sure it’s unlocked

reads VFO in the upper-left

Set the frequency
1-4-6-7-4-0
M ON/F - 0
Go to ARS (item 5) and reset the auto repeater
shift
M AIN - OFF - PTT
6.
Set the transm it pow er level
M ON/F - TX (repeat until L1, L2, L3 disappear)
Your radio is now set to transm it simplex
