s-max - the stair climber for your wheelchair
In your own wheelchair safely and comfortably up and down stairs
1
www.mobility-mhs.co.uk
• Move easily and quickly, up and down
stairs in your own wheelchair.
• s-max fits virtually all commercial
wheelchairs, even particularly narrow
children’s wheelchairs.
• The brackets especially developed
modular concept makes a simple
assembly possible.
• s-max is easy to handle because of the
newly developed climbing system with
little load alterations.
• The handle’s solid connection to the
climbing unit provides a secure feeling
for stair climbing.
• The grips and control unit are
constructed according to the newest
ergonomic insights.
• The climbing speed can be specifically
adjusted to the particular climbing
situation at hand.
There is enough room even in
the most compact cars: You can
take the s-max with you
anywhere making you mobile
and active.
• The single step mode offers optimum
ease in controlling the s-max to ensure
safe as well as careful movement over
all kinds of stairs.
Consistent, safe, and reliable:
The automatic safety brakes stop
automatically at the edge of
each step.
• The s-max’s thought-out safety concept
includes brakes, which stop
automatically at the edge of each step.
The s-max can be mounted on
virtually all wheelchairs due to the
brackets' modular concept. Individual
modification of wheelchairs and
special brackets are possible as well.
• Since the s-max works with merely one
climbing leg, it is particularly compact
and thus functional even on narrow
stair cases or winding stairs.
• s-max is suitable for all floor coverings,
be it wood, stone, marble, tiles or
carpet. The exposed edges of stairs are
not damaged.
• Durable and maintenance-free
batteries provide energy for up to 300
steps.
• The electrical wires run inside
protecting them from damage.
s-max
• Thanks to its compact measurements
and its low weight s-max is your ideal
partner in everyday life.
Easy and quick: The bracket for the s-max is
affixed to the wheelchair once. After that the
stair climbing aid can be attached to the
wheelchair safely and sturdily by means of a quick
pin. At this point you merely need to remove the
wheelchair's (quick release axle) wheels and the
system is ready to use.

Advantages for your mobility
2
3
www.mobility-mhs.co.uk
As for the quality of life, to be active and flexible is particularly
important. This is especially true for children. That's why we build
the s-max in such a way that it fits the compact children's
wheelchairs as well. This is an advantage that hardly any other
stair climbing aid offers.
Do not make your job dependent on steps,
except in terms of stepping up the carrier ladder.
s-max takes you to any work place that you wish.
Enjoy this freedom again.
Be it kindergarten, school, on the way to exercise class or music
school, the s-max overcomes stairs easily, fits into the boot of your
car and provides you and your child with an almost unrestricted
mobility. This increases the quality of life tremendously because
the s-max makes it easy to get around staying in touch with
friends and family.
On the way to your place the s-max fits easily
into your car's trunk. Mounted with a quick pin
right at the place of your work, it remains on the
wheelchair the entire day without hindering you
or restricting your regular mobility. In case you
need to overcome stairs, it is ready to use.
Overcome barriers, enjoy the freedom of being capable of
conquering stairs any time and anywhere without problem.
Thanks to the batteries' high capacity the s-max climbs up to 300
stairs. This means you can plan for longer excursions now. You
may also recharge the batteries in your car using the appropriate
charging cable and your car's battery.
The batteries' high capacity of up to 300 steps is
accessible to you during your regular work day.
Ergonomic:
The most
important
control elements
are accessible
without
loosening your
grip.
s-max
Mobility at the work
place: Narrow stair cases
or even winding stairs
are no longer an obstacle
on your way to work.
The s-max easily
overcomes stairs of any
kind, regardless of their
coverings, be it highly
polished marble or
wooden stairs, or steps
covered with other
materials.
No blocking obstacle:
The s-max takes up
very little space when
it is not needed.
Thanks to its
powerful
batteries long
stairways are no
problem with
the s-max.
Outdoors the s-max also provides the
necessary mobility that children need
for their development.
s-max - the powered stair climber for your wheelchair
Quickly stowed: In a few movements the s-max plus wheelchair are folded and fit into any type of car boot.
Overcome barriers, at home, at school, in your spare time.
4
5
www.mobility-mhs.co.uk
Stay active in your familiar environment. Do not go without habits that are
dear to you. s-max helps you doing just that by conquering stairs easily.
s-max - optional accessories
The s-max works with just one climbing leg. This results in very compact
measurements; thus' it can be used even on narrow stairs. It furthermore
fits even narrow wheelchairs. Handling is really easy and you need little
physical strength.
The s-max's advantages result in the kind of independence that you may
wish for as a wheelchair user. In addition, this is true not only at home but
anywhere else as well because you can take the s-max with you wherever
you go. It fits into the boot of any car.
The trick: Because the
s-max functions with only
one climbing leg, it can
be built in such a compact
way. Nevertheless, it
stands solidly and steadily
on the ground.

position.
With the unique braking system engaging
automatically on the edge of each step,
safety and confidence whilst in operation is
ensured.
Although the c-max U2 has been designed
for use for ambulance and community
transport services, it has proven successful
in other applications including:
• fire evacuation
• buildings where storage is an issue
• for individuals who have vehicles
with tracking installed for use with
4-point webbing system.
The c-max U2 Powered

FIRE SAFETY RISK ASSESSMENT 1
Follow the 5 key steps
Fill in the checklist
Assess your fire risk and plan fire safely
Fire hazards
Fire starts when heat (source of ignition) comes into
contact with fuel (anything that burns), and oxygen
(air).
You need to keep sources of ignition and fuel apart.
How could a fire start?
Think about heaters, lighting, naked flames,
electrical equipment, hot processes such as welding
or grinding, cigarettes, matches and anything else
that gets very hot or causes sparks.
Have you found anything that could start a fire?
Make a note of it.
What could burn?
Packaging, rubbish and furniture could all burn, just
like the more obvious fuels such as petrol, paint,
varnish, and white spirit. Also think about wood,
paper, plastic, rubber and foam. Do the walls or
ceilings have hardboard, chipboard, or polystyrene?
Check outside, too.
2
Have you found anything that could burn?
Make a note of it.
People at risk
Evaluate, and act
Evaluate
First, think about what you have found in
steps 1 and 2: what are the risks of a fire
starting, and what are the risks to people in
the building and nearby?
Remove and reduce risk
How can you avoid accidental fires?
Could a source of heat or sparks fall, be
knocked or pushed into something that
would burn? Could that happen the other
way round?
Protect
Take action to protect your premises and
people from fire.
Record
Keep a record of any fire hazards and what
you have done to reduce or remove them. If
your premises are small, a record is a good
idea.
If you have five or more staff or have a
licence then you must keep a record of what
you have found and what you have done.
Plan
You must have a clear plan of how to
prevent fire and how you will keep people
safe in case of fire. If you share a building
with others you need to coordinate your plan
with them.
Train
You need to make sure your staff know what
to do in case of fire, and if necessary, are
trained for their roles.
Have you identified?
People at risk
Everyone is at risk if there is a fire. Think whether
the risk is greater for some because of when or
where they work, such as night staff, or because
they’re not familiar with the premises, such as
visitors or customers.
Children, the elderly or disabled people are
especially vulnerable.
3
Record, plan and train
Have you made a record of what you have found, and action
you have taken?
4
Have you planned what everyone will do if there is a fire?
Have you discussed the plan with all staff?
Have you?
Informed and trained people (practised a fire drill and
recorded how it went)?
Nominated staff to put in place your fire prevention
measures, and trained them?
Made sure everyone can fulfil their role?
Informed temporary staff?
Consulted others who share a building with you, and included
them in your plan?
Who could be at risk?
Who could be especially at risk?
Make a note of what you have found.
Review
Keep your risk assessment under regular review.
Over time, the risks may change.
Have you assessed the risks of fire in your workplace?
Have you assessed the risk to staff and visitors?
Have you kept any source of fuel and heat/sparks apart?
If someone wanted to start a fire deliberately, is there
anything around they could use?
Have you removed or secured any fuel an arsonist could use?
Have you protected you premises from accidental fire or arson?
How can you make sure everyone is safe in case of fire?
Will you know there is a fire?
Do you have a plan to warn others?
Who will make sure everyone gets out?
Who will call the fire service?
Could you put out a small fire quickly and stop it spreading?
How will everyone escape?
Have you planned escape routes?
Have you made sure people will be able to safely find their
way out, even at night if necessary?
Does all your safety equipment work?
Will people know what to do and how to use the equipment?
Make a note of what you have found
32
If you identify significant changes in risk or
make any significant changes to your plan, you
must tell others who share the premises and
where appropriate re-train staff.
Have you?
Informed and trained people (practised a fire drill and
recorded how it went)?
Nominated staff to put in place your fire prevention
measures, and trained them?
Made sure everyone can fulfil their role?
Informed temporary staff?
Completed the checklist?
Do you need more information?
The checklist above can help you with the Fire Risk Assessment but
you may need additional information especially if you have large
or complex premises.
There are a series of guides for different business sectors.
These guides will give you more information about how to carry out a
Fire Risk Assessment, with specific advice for your type of premises.
These guides are free to download at www.communities.gov.uk/fire

v-max
Transform your manual wheelchair into a mobile one and
enjoy your newly acquired freedom with the pushing and
braking aid-max. This device helps to move a wheelchair on
uneven terrain as well as driving on ramps or track thus
increasing your range of activity considerably.
v-max can be mounted to virtually all wheelchairs with a
seat width of 36cm. The device works on the back wheels of
the wheelchair with a direct drive affording a permanent,
efficient load transmission thus reaching a climbing capacity
of up to 20%. The maximum total weight admitted (person,
wheelchair plus device) is 200kg.
v-max
To operate the v-max you use ergonomically designed grips
which make operation particularly easy. The speed can be
continuously adjusted up to 6km / hour, backwards up to 3
km / hour. When going down a slope the v-max
automatically brakes making you descent safe. The grips
have another practical function, they support the v-max, if
for some reason you do not need the device on you
wheelchair and want to store it or set it on the floor.
The pushing and braking aid v-max leaves ample
legroom which makes walks a pleasure for both
the wheelchair driver and his/her attendant even
on rough terrain.
The powerful battery pack has a maximum range of 25km
depending on the weight of the wheelchair driver as well
as the surfaces and the terrain. This means virtually limitless
mobility for the wheelchair driver.
At the same time the v-max does not reduce the advantage
of a manual wheelchair: its total weight of 17.4kg including
the battery pack is extremely low: also, the legroom for the
attendant remains because the v-max is mounted to the
lower part of the back rest. You may, therefore, drive e.g.
on divided ramps up to a 20% slope.
Transporting the v-max is equally easy and comfortable
because the device is quickly disassembled and fits together
with your wheelchair into almost any boot, even those of
small cars.
