Pressure Cotrol Valves (PCV)
The pressure control valves effectively reduce high mains pressure, resulting in less water delivery at
taps. The expansion relief pressure control functions are all situated on one spindle, so there is no chance
of conflicting settings causing the valve to unnecessarily relieve pressure and thereby waste water.

PRESSURE CONTROL VALVES - BASIC INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
CAUTION / WARNING:
All installations of products and systems must be in accordance with the applicable
SANS regulations, specifications and standards.
Installations, servicing and maintenance should be done by accredited service
providers only.
A. Balanced Pressure
Hot and Cold water pressure must be balanced (equal pressure) to all mixers, mixing points,
showers and hand showers. This is achieved by taking the cold water supply from the
downstream side of the pressure valve.
B. Valve Identification
100kPa valve (Blue cap)
200kPa valve (Black cap)
400kPa valve (Red cap)
600kPa valve (Green cap)
CAUTION:
The pressure control valve must be compatible with the pressure rating of the
hot water cylinder and the temperature and pressure relief valve (safety valve)
C. Expansion Relief Drain Pipe
Be piped in such a manner to drain downwards
Not be interconnected with the safety valve (T&P) drain pipe
Not to discharge in the hot water cylinder drip tray
Discharge where flow is visible
Be protected against frost
Have minimal bends/ fittings
D. General Requirements
All pipes must be flushed clean before putting the system into operation.
Waterflow must be in the direction of the arrow marked on the valve body.
The valve must be easily accessible for maintenance/ servicing.
The relief drain connection must allow for the relief drain pipe to be pulled to one side when
removing the cartridge. Allow a minimum distance of ±100mm for cartridge removal.
Do not install a stop-cock or non-return valve between the hot water cylinder and the pressure
control valve.
Do not install a stop-cock between the hot water cylinder and the vacuum breakers on the hot
and cold sides.
Supply pipes adequately sized.
Please ensure to make use of copper tube with the installation.
Max inlet pressure 2,500kPa.
System pressure according to the rating of the hot water cylinder, i.e. only use a 400kPa PCV with
a 400kPa rated hot water cylinder and a 600kPa PCV with a 600kPa rated hot water cylinder.
