Dionex introduces a new generation
of integrated ion chromatography systems. The ICS-1000, ICS-1500, and
ICS-2000 bring a new level of power
to ion chromatography. With all three
systems, integration incorporates a
dual piston pump, a conductivity
detector with heated cell, and a chromatography compartment for column
and suppressor placement. The ICS2000 is the first totally integrated
Reagent-Free™ IC (RFIC) with eluent
generation for automated eluent delivery. The ICS series of ion chromatographs are compatible with all types of
Dionex suppressor technologies.
Powerful IC Solutions
The ICS-1000 integrates an advanced
set of features into one instrument. An
ultra smooth all polymeric dual-piston
pumping system contributes to low
detection limits. Advances in cell design
and temperature control provide driftfree baselines for precise integration
and quantitation.
The ICS-1500 provides the same
advanced set of features as the ICS-1000
with the addition of an LCD touch panel
display and integrated column heater.
The ICS-2000 incorporates powerful
RFIC technology into the ICS-1500. RFIC
combines eluent generation, electrolytic
suppression, and continuously regenerated trap column technology. RFIC
provides superior separations with more
consistent results as shown below. RFIC
also enables lower detection limits while
making IC even easier to use.

The ICS-1000, ICS-1500, and
ICS-2000 have been designed for ease of
use. The LCD touch-pad front panel of
the ICS-1500 and ICS-2000 provides clear
identification of key operating parameters permitting at-instrument control
and monitoring. All components of the
IC are incorporated into a small footprint
requiring minimal bench space.

swing-open door for convenient

Leak Detector and Drip Tray

Temperature control provides column
stability and reproducibility in certain
applications. A low-dispersion heat
exchanger provides pre-heating prior
to the column and ensures the column
temperature set point. The transparent
cover allows viewing of the column
connections without temperature disruption. The column heater is standard
on the ICS-1500 and ICS-2000 and
optional on the ICS-1000.

The built-in optical leak detector and drip
tray provide fast response and shutdown
for system leaks.

A Powerful Combination
Conductivity Detection
The ICS-1000, ICS-1500, and ICS-2000
have been designed and optimized for all
types of IC separations and applications
employing conductivity detection. The
heated and thermostated high-performance conductivity cell permits measurements that are unaffected by temperature
variations. Digital control offers a wide
dynamic range for analyzing samples
with disparate concentrations within the
same sample.
Eluent Generation
Available with the ICS-2000, eluent
generation eliminates the need to manually prepare eluents. Isocratic or gradient
eluent concentrations are programmed
with the click of a mouse for unprecedented simplicity and error-free operation. This electrolytic eluent generation
provides precise eluent concentration
delivery, run to run, day to day, week to
week, and lab to lab.
The Continuously Regenerated Trap
Column (CR-TC), complements eluent
generation and is an integral component
of RFIC. The CR-ATC, for anions, and
the CR-CTC, for cations, provide on-line
eluent purification by removing trace
ions and impurities, such as carbonate
in anion applications from the eluent
stream. Since the CR-TC is continuously
regenerated, there is no need for periodic
cleaning as with conventional trap columns.
Electrolytic Suppression
The ICS-1000, ICS-1500, and ICS-2000
each support all types of Dionex suppressor technologies, including MMS™,
SRS®, and AES® suppressors. SRS and
AES suppressors utilize electrolytic suppression, which frees the operator from
manual regenerant preparation. The
suppressor automatically produces the
regenerant required for the application
and provides continuous regeneration.

Advantages of RFIC
RFIC combines eluent generation and
self-regenerating suppression to empower laboratories like never before. In addition to saving time, labor, and operating
costs, RFIC eliminates errors associated
with manual eluent preparation. This
effectively improves method reproducibility, day to day, week to week,
lab to lab. Instead of manually preparing eluents and regenerants, chemists
simply add a clean source of deionized
water to the system. The ICS-2000 and
its built-in RFIC technology take care
of the rest by electrolytically creating
the required eluents and regenerants
used for IC applications.
