Pump front brake lever until firm (bleed if necessary) Ensure correct tyre pressure (15‐20 PSI for off‐road use) Loosen rear wheel & adjust chain tension if necessary (there should be 15mm up and 15mm down play in the chain at the longest section when a rider is sat on the bike) Ensure chain runs true & is on top of the chain roller. Use chain lube/grease if necessary. Working from front to rear, ensure all nuts & bolts are tight (use a locking compound if necessary) Fully ensure nothing is touching the exhaust system. On oil cooled models, ensure the oil cooler pipes do not touch the exhaust & that the heat protection springs are located in the correct part of the pipe in order that should they touch the exhaust they will have some protection. Ensure all cable, pipes & wiring are away from moving components such as wheels / chain, use cable ties where necessary. Fuel bike and check for fuel leaks Check oil level is appropriate Ensure wheel spokes are tight Ghost‐MX GMX Pit Bike Set Up Guide Content © http://www.GhostBikes.com All Rights Reserved Starting the bike & Running in: ‰

Turn fuel on Ensure bike is in neutral (not in gear) Turn choke on (normally up position but may vary depending on model) Start engine and let it warm up. Once choke is able to be turned off – set idle speed so the engine ticks over comfortably without stalling or over revving. Test machine, ensuring all gears are present & correct & that all controls are fluid & functional. Ensure brakes are working efficiently (bearing in mind that the pads will need to bed in first) Run bike at no more than 2/3’s throttle & do not allow engine to rev at high speed while running in. Running in should be no less than 1 hour and no more than 2 hours. After run in period carry out the following checks and procedures ¾ Drain shipping oil & replace with a quality semi synthetic 10w 40 4‐stroke engine oil. ¾ Check all nuts & bolts & tighten were necessary ¾ Check wheel spokes (especially rear wheel drive side) & tighten where necessary. ¾ Re‐Adjust throttle cable & clutch cable if required ¾ Re‐Tension chain ¾ Check brake calliper operation & brake pad wear ¾ Check tyre pressures Ghost‐MX GMX Pit Bike Set Up Guide Content © http://www.GhostBikes.com All Rights Reserved It is good practice to carry out the above checks on a regular basis, ideally each time you ride your machine. We advise an oil change every 10 hours of use after the initial run in change. Do not stamp through the gears – always use the clutch. If you miss a gear do NOT stamp into gear from high engine revs. Do not over rev the engine as you may cause damage to the valves Do not drop your clutch heavily, or slip it unnecessarily. Ghost‐MX GMX Pit Bike Set Up Guide Content © http://www.GhostBikes.com All Rights Reserved Ghostbikes Warranty Warranty frequently asked questions... When does my warranty start? Your warranty starts from the day you collect or take delivery, whether the machine has been used or not. What warranty do I get with my new machine? You get a an initial 7 days full warranty, in which time all bona fide warranty issues will be free of charge. After this period we will still assist with problems but all parts and service work will be chargeable. Why is the warranty period so short? Pit Bikes are designed for light off‐road use, preferably in the dry combined with a level of ongoing maintenance. Unfortunately most machines are used in any weather conditions and on any surface without any maintenance. This creates a warranty problem for suppliers and manufacturers alike. The machines are very serviceable and the parts are relatively low cost, and are similar in many ways to pedal bikes which make them relatively easy to work on, many customers prefer to repair the machines themselves as it is appreciated that most problems arise due to use beyond the machines limitations. Ghost‐MX GMX Pit Bike Set Up Guide Content © http://www.GhostBikes.com All Rights Reserved What parts are NOT covered under my warranty? Basically parts that either move or that wear through use. It is impossible to ascertain the amount of use a machine or part has had and what level of maintenance the machine or part has received. A Pit Bike could have done over 100 hours use easily in one month, if used a lot, that's about 6 years equivalent use of say a lawn mower or strimmer .Therefore parts not covered at any time under warranty are as follows: • Chains / Belts • Sprockets • Tyres / Inner tubes • Wheels • Clutches / Levers • Plastic cowlings • Throttle / Brake cables • Switches • Batteries • Brake handles / brake pads / brake drums • Brake calipers • Carburetor • Engine Gaskets • Fuel tanks • Steering stems • Bearings • Pull cords / inner starter flanges • Cut off / starter switches Ghost‐MX GMX Pit Bike Set Up Guide Content © http://www.GhostBikes.com All Rights Reserved What is covered then? • Frame provided there are no crash marks • Engine providing the correct fuel and maintenance has been used • Wiring providing no alterations have been made There doesn't seem much left that is covered, why is this? This is true, but experience has shown if the machines are used incorrectly as small motor crossers or stunt bikes, damage quickly occurs which is often attempted to be passed off as a warranty issue. We feel it is better to let customers know what is likely to happen, and then customers can make an informed decision before they purchase. How will my warranty operate? Within the first 7 days if your machine develops a fault, you can contact Ghostbikes and your warranty will operate as follows: 1. Any problem should be referred to Ghostbikes who will evaluate the problem and suggest a solution. 2. In the first instance we will expect customers to fit straightforward parts themselves with technical help from Ghostbikes. This will avoid you having to return the machine. 3. We will send parts free of charge in the 7 days providing the repair is covered under warranty and the faulty part is returned to us. 4. If the repair is beyond the customers capabilities we will request that the machine is returned for the repair to be carried out in our workshops. 5. Machines which are returned and that are later found to not be a warranty repair will be charged at our standard workshop rate of £25 per hour + parts costs. 6. You will be advised when your repaired machine will be ready for collection 7. No work or warranty claims will be undertaken without the original invoice/receipt. 8. Repairs will be carried out in our workshop. We do not offer any call out service or collections. In the unlikely event a problem occurs remember we are here to help, however we are not here to take abuse because a person may feel the above does not apply to them. Please make sure you are happy with the setup and warranty procedures before making a decision to buy. Ghost‐MX GMX Pit Bike Set Up Guide Content © http://www.GhostBikes.com All Rights Reserved
