The following pages describe the new features of the software that will be
downloaded into your DStv decoder.

INFORMATION PLATE
The Information Plate (i-Plate) functionality is similar to the previous i-plate, but with
small differences.
I-PLATE DETAILS
The Information Plate (i-Plate) is displayed for 10 seconds each time you press i
change channels, or exit from a menu.
If you require more information about the programme while the i-Plate is displayed,
press i . Extended information about the programme will be displayed.
To remove the i-Plate, press EXIT.
For your convenience the i-Plate display period can be changed in the Information
Display Period menu.

I-PLATE FEATURES
With the Information Plate (i-Plate) displayed, you will be able to view the following
information:
1.
CLOCK - displays the local time.
2.
NOW/NEXT - displays information about the current programme or
information about the next programme.
3.
EXTENDED INFORMATION - presents more information about either the
current or next programme.
4.
BROWSING - allows you to view information about programmes on other
channels.
5.
REMINDERS - allows you to set reminders for programmes which have
not started yet.

While viewing a programme, press

the next programme on the channel
being viewed.
To remove the i-Plate press EXIT.

Should you require extended
information about a programme,
press i while the i-Plate is
displayed.
This will show the Extended Event
Information screen for the current
programme.
To obtain information about the next
programme coming up on this
channel, press the arrow.
You can clear the Extended Event
Information screen by pressing EXIT.
To remove the i-Plate, press EXIT
a second time.
BROWSING
The i-Plate allows you to browse through information about programmes on other DStv
channels without tuning away from the channel you are viewing. To do this, follow the
steps below:
BROWSING
(current and next programmes)
1.
Press i to display the i-Plate.
While the i-Plate is displayed, press
the or
arrow. This will allow
you to browse through information
about programmmes on other
channels without tuning to these
channels.
Example: in the adjacent picture, we
are tuned to M-Net, but the i-Plate
displays information about the
programme currently on BBC Prime.
2.
You can tune to the ‘browsed’
channel (BCC Prime in this case) by
pressing OK on the current
programme.

REMINDERS
NOTE:
1.

Reminders cannot be set for programmes that have
already started.
If you are using an Interactive service, reminders will not
work.
BANNER REMINDERS
A banner is displayed on your TV screen once the selected programme starts, irrespective
of the channel you are watching (except when you are in an Interactive service).
Example: you can view a programme on M-Net and set a reminder for the next
programme on the Movie Magic channel. When the programme on Movie Magic starts,
a banner will be displayed on-screen to remind you of your selection.

To set a Banner Reminder, press
to display the i-Plate.
2.
Press the arrow to highlight the
next programme.
3.
Press OK once to set a Banner
Reminder for that programme. A banner
will appear on-screen, as well as a small
B on the i-Plate to confirm that a
Banner Reminder has been set. When
the selected programme starts, a banner
will be displayed on-screen, to remind
you that the progamme you selected
has started.
4.
To tune to the selected programme
press OK. To cancel the reminder and
continue watching the current
programme, press EXIT.
NB
If you do not press OK or EXIT
within one minute of the reminder
banner being displayed, it will time
out and your DStv decoder will
remain on the currently viewed
channel.
Cancelling a Banner
Reminder
1.
To cancel a Banner Reminder,
press the i button to display the
i-Plate.
2.
A small B will be displayed on the
next programme on the i-Plate
indicating that a Banner Reminder
has been set.
3.
Press the arrow to highlight the
next programme.
4.
Press OK twice to cancel the
Banner Reminder. A banner will
appear on-screen, indicating that
the Reminder has been cancelled.
AUTOTUNE REMINDERS
When an Autotune Reminder is set, the DStv decoder will automatically tune to the
programme when it starts.
1.
To set an Autotune Reminder, press
i to display the i-Plate.
2.
Press the arrow to highlight the
next programme. Press OK twice
to set an Autotune Reminder for that
programme.
3.
A banner will appear on-screen, as
well as a small A on the i-Plate to
confirm that an Autotune Reminder
has been set.
4.
When the selected programme
starts, the DStv decoder will
automatically tune to the selected
programme.
NB
When the programme for which
you set an Autotune reminder
starts, a banner will be displayed
on screen notifiying you that the
DStv decoder will tune to that
programme in 5 seconds.

Cancelling an Autotune

To cancel an Autotune Reminder,
press the i button to display the
i-Plate.
2.
A small A will be displayed on the
next programme on the i-Plate
indicating that an Autotune
Reminder has been set.
3.
Press the arrow to highlight the
next programme.
4.
Press OK to cancel the Autotune
Reminder for that programme. A
banner will appear on-screen,
indicating that the reminder has
been cancelled.

The DStv touch menu displays a list of all the interactive services available on your DStv
decoder.
1.
To display the DStv touch menu,
press OK during normal viewing.
A menu is displayed on the left hand
side of your screen over the picture.
(Please ensure that there are no
other on-screen features (eg. the
i-plate etc.) displayed when
launching the DStv touch menu.)
2.
Highlight the interactive service you
wish to use by pressing the
or
arrows on your remote control.
3.
Press OK to access the interactive
service you have highlighted.

CHANNEL GRID
The Channel Grid displays a list of all available channels.

1.
To display the Channel Grid,
press any of the arrow buttons
during normal viewing. The grid is
displayed over the picture of the
channel you are viewing.
(Please ensure that
there are no other on-screen
features (eg. the i-plate etc.)
in operation when launching the
Channel Grid.)
2.
Use the arrow buttons to move the
highlight on the grid. As you move
the highlight, programming
information on the i-Plate will update.
3.
Press the i button to view
extended information about the
current or next programme of the
channel you have highlighted. See
second picture on the left.
4.
Reminders can also be set whilst in
the Channel Grid.
5.
To set reminders, highlight a
channel and press i . Thereafter
follow the instructions detailed in
the REMINDERS section of this
manual.
DStv Guide
On Channel 1 you will find the DStv Guide. It provides all the information you need
about DStv.
The DStv Guide is broken up into the following sections:
TV Guide
This section contains all programming
details across all DStv channels. Extra
features include searches for specific types
of programming and the ability to set
Interactive
This section tells you about DStv Interactive.
You can also go directly to an Interactive
service from this menu.
About Us
Here you will find information on the useful
features that the DStv product offers. It also
contains troubleshooting, contact information
and more...

Bouquets
This section contains programme
information of channels on other bouquets,
including bouquets that require separate
subscriptions.
