OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ‘HSF’ CONTROL
CONTROL UNIT type R80 HSF designed for use with NOBO Panel heaters using Series 8 controls.
HSF – T1
Temperature control module.

A Control module with restricted temperature scale ( 14 - 21 ), fixed 16°C. economy and frost protection settings.

8 – On / Off switch. l = On, 0 = Off.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Switch the heater on with switch (8).
Set required temperature with control (1).
Press the Boost timer button (9).
When the thermostat calls for heat the amber indicator will also glow.
The action of the electronic thermostat provides proportional regulation of temperature. The Amber operating
indicator light will be seen to go on and off at frequent intervals as it adjusts the amount of heat supplied to
maintain room temperature. When room temperature is more than 1°C below the thermostat set point the
heater will operate continuously but during the last one degree the operation will be proportionally reduced
until the required temperature is achieved.
When the green indicator (5) is visible the heater will operate in economy mode and maintain the pre-set
background temperature. When the Boost timer button (9) is pressed the mode of operation is changed from
economy mode to comfort mode. The green indicator will go out and the red indicator will come on. If the room
temperature is below the set point (1) the amber indicator will come on and the heater will raise room
temperature accordingly. At the end of the one hour boost period the heater will go back to economy mode.
If the boost button is not pressed again the heater will, after 24 hours from the last button press, step down to
frost protection mode. A further button press will bring the heater back to comfort mode and reset the 24 hour
timeout sequence. A single button press once every day will ensure that the room temperature does not fall
below 16°C. otherwise the heater will provide continuous frost protection until reactivated.
This heater has the facility for control by a remote push button or other trigger device when required.
NOTE
The heater should not be covered or things be placed on or over the heater.
Minimum clearance of 50mm from all surfaces must be maintained at all times.
The heater is fitted with an over-temperature cut-out which will switch off the heating element in the event of the
heater becoming too hot. The element will not be switched back on again until the heater has cooled.
CLEANING
The heater may be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
The heater may be tilted forwards on its mounting bracket for cleaning and decorating behind the heater.
Pressing the clips downward at the back of the heater will release the heater from the mounting bracket.

NOBO ‘HSF’ CONTROL
EXPLANATION
The HSF type R80 temperature control module fitted to the NOBO Panel Heater provides accurate
control of temperature. Simply put; it is the thermostat but is also an integral Lapse-timer allowing the
heater to operate at its various temperature levels for a fixed period of time.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Switch the heater on with switch (8).
Set required temperature with control (1).
Press the Boost timer button (9).
When the heater is first switched on it will, by default, provide continuous Frost protection.
This is a fixed and factory pre-set temperature setting of approximately 7°C.
A single press on the Boost timer button (9) will activate the integral 24 hour lapse-timer, starting a sequence
of timed periods, the first being a two hour boost period when the heater operates at a higher level which
is user adjustable (1) between the 14° and 24° settings. A red LED (4) will glow to show that this setting
has been activated and an amber LED (6) will glow when the heater is providing heat.
During the first minute of this two hour boost period the heater will operate regardless of room temperature
but at the end of the minute it will depend upon room temperature and will only provide heat when the room
temperature is below the thermostat setting. For example if the setting (1) is 18°C and the temperature in
the room is 20°C the heater will not provide any heat after the first minute.
At the end of the two hour boost period the heater will step down to its economy temperature setting, the
red LED (4) will go out and a green LED (5) will show. The heater will continue to operate but at a reduced
temperature level which is fixed and factory pre-set at 16°C. This will continue for 22 hours after which
the heater will time-out and step down to its Frost Protection setting.
The Boost Button may be pressed at any time, to reset the timer to the start of its 24 hour time-out sequence.
The heater will not step down to its frost protection setting if the Boost Button is pressed once in every 24 hours
but if the button is not pressed then the heater will time-out at the end of the 24 hour period.
If the power supply is interupted or the heater switched off, then it will default to its frost protection setting
when the power supply is restored.

NOBO PANEL RADIATORS
The NOBO Panel Radiators, designed and manufactured as a fixed appliance.
The Radiator should be permanently fixed to the wall using rawlplugs and screws or other
similar suitable fixings. Clearance around and above the Radiator must be allowed and the
following minimum dimensions should be considered.

For the best results the Radiator should be mounted as low as is practical and between
100 and 150 mm clearance above the floor is suggested.
The electricity supply should be provided through a fixed flex connection unit,
the fixed flex connection unit should be wall mounted on the right hand side of the heater
and the following electrical connections should be made.
