IMPORTANT! Set Up Instructions
The instructions you will find in the box are supplied by Schneider and are generic, covering all of
their clocks with many more variations than the one you own. Customers have found this
confusing. So I have written these simpler instructions. Do note that the only The Cuckoo Clock
Designer clock that has three weights, and thus music, is the Barn Cuckoo Clock. And that all
movements on my clocks are a two-position manual shutoff/silence.
I want setup to be easy so you can get to enjoying your clock. So…
Please read these instructions carefully!
Upon receipt, inspect the box for damage. If damaged, contact the shipper.
In not damaged, carefully unpack your clock. The chains are held in place with a wire. This is the last item
to be removed. Do not remove the wire until the clock is hanging on the wall.
Lay clock face down on a soft surface, such as a sofa or cushion. Unlatch the back panel and open it.
Remove the paper from between the wire gong and the back panel. Remove the clips from the bellows.
Make sure the pendulum hanger is poking through the slot in the bottom of the clock. Replace the back
Determine where you wish to hang your clock. The clock needs to hang 6 feet from the floor. Make sure
that you locate a stud. Make sure to use an appropriate anchor (i.e. screw or nail) to support the weight
of the clock. The warranty will not cover the clock falling off of the wall.
In order to run properly, the clock needs to be level and flat against the wall. The wire that the pendulum
attaches to must not rub the slot in the case. Avoid hanging the clock where it will be exposed to blowing
air, such as an air conditioner, heating venting, fan, or open window. The air movement can stop your
Locate the cuckoo’s door on the face of the clock and turn the wire holding it closed up to allow the door
to open and thus the bird to call.
Now that the clock is positioned correctly on the wall you may remove the wire from the chains. Be
certain to untangle the chains and let them hang freely. Place the weights on the hooks and the pendulum
on the hanger. To start the clock, pull the pendulum to one side and release.
Always set the time in a clockwise direction. Move the minute hand to the next half hour, and let it
cuckoo. Repeat until the clock is at the correct time. Never rotate the hands backwards. This could cause
serious damage to the movement. This type of damage is not covered under warranty.
If you find your clock is running too fast or too slow, regulate it by moving the bob (thread spool) on the
pendulum up or down. Down slows the clock; up makes it run faster. Move a small amount each time. As
much as 1/8” makes a difference. The adjustment should be made once a day, about the same time each
day, to verify the effect.
10. If the bird fails to call and music does not play, check the shut off lever on the left side of the clock. For
normal operation, it should be in the down position. (It doesn’t bottom out. It could be ½” or more from
the bottom of the slot when it is down as far as it will go.)
11. If your clock has a 1-day movement it will require winding twice a day. (It runs about 20 hours.) An 8-day
clock will require winging about once a week.
12. Not that this clock is supplied with a two-position manual shut-off, not the three-position auto shutoff
option pictured in the generic factory instructions. Up silences the cuckoo. Down lets him sing. The lever
on your clock will not hit the bottom of the slot.

If ever you need to pack your clock for moving or shipping watch the video on my web site. The main thing to get
right is securing the chains, or you could end up with a repair bill if they fall off their sprockets!
My wish is that your clock brings you years of smiles!
