IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS APPLIANCE. When using your Vacuum Cleaner, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following : WARNING -To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury: 1.Before connecting the power cord of your new Vacuum Cleaner to an electrical outlet, check the voltage rating. Your power source should correspond with the voltage rating plate on the underside of the vacuum cleaner. Use only household alternate current outlets. Never use direct current power sources. If you are unsure of the voltage supply in your area, consult a qualified electrician. Connecting the vacuum cleaner to a higher voltage than indicated in these instructions may result in damage to the vacuum cleaner and/or personal injury. 2.Do not leave the vacuum cleaner while plugged in. Make sure that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adapter should be used with this appliance. Household Models CR69A , CR79, CR99 NOTE : As a safety feature and to reduce risk of damage, injury or electric shock, this vacuum cleaner is equipped with a polarized alternating current line plug (one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the 1 O plug. If the plug still fails to fit, contact a qualified electrician to replace the outlet. Do not attempt to alter the plug thus defeating the safety purpose of the polarized plug. (Model CR69A , CR79, CR99 only) 3.Align small hole on handle with screw hole in dust cover. Insert screw and tighten securely. (All models) 4. Turn cord storage hook to upright position and wind cord between upper and lower hooks to store. 5.To quick-release cord: simply rotate hook and cord will drop for immediate use. How To Release Power Cord: 1.The cord storage hook has a quick-release action. To release the cord, rotate the hook downward and the cord will drop off the handle for immediate use. 2.Return the hook to upright position before attempting to rewind the cord. Replacing the dust bag: *Remember: Always have a dust bag installed when operating your Vacuum Cleaner. Replace with a genuine dust bag when full. 1.Push down on knob at top of dust cover to open compartment. 2.Pull cardboard bag collar off holder. Remove and discard used dust bag. 3.Slide clean replacement bag collar onto holder. 4.Close dust cover by reinserting tab on lower edge into groove on housing and snap shut. Checking the secondary filter: *Important: The secondary filter protects the motor from dust and dirt. 1.Check for accumulated dust and dirt when replacing dust bag. 2.If replacement is needed, release the right tab on underside of bag supporter. Lift and rotate bag supporter to remove. (Bag supporter for Model CR79 & CR99 only.) 3.Remove secondary filter from bottom of dust compartment, 4 Replace secondary filter with new filter. 5.Reinstall bag supporter. Checking the exhaust filter: Models CR69A The exhaust post filter captures fine dust particles and purifies air exiting your Vacuum Cleaner. Change the exhaust filter with every third dust bag replacement, or as needed. 1.Depress handle release pedal to drop vacuum cleaner to lowest position. 2.Push knob at side of exhaust filter cover to remove. 3.Remove soiled filter and replace with new one. (Do not wash or reuse.) -10- Models CR79, CR99 1.Push the top latch to the right. Hold exhaust filter cover and move it upwards. 2 For models CR99 Remove soiled hepa filterand replace with new filter. 3.For model CR79:Take out filter cartridge. Open the cartridge. Remove soiled filter and replace with new filter. 4 Reinstall the exhaust filter cover and push the top latch | to the left. Ё Vacuum operation instructions ON/OFF Switch : ON OFF ON OFF Model CR69A, CR79 8 CR99 are equipped with a convenient handle slide switch to turn power ON and OFF. Variable Power Control: Model CR99 Your Model CR99 Vacuum Cleaner 1s equipped with a variable power control allowing you to select a power range from MINimum to MAXimum cleaning power. Lights indicate power level selected. Automatic Self-Adjusting Carpet Nozzle: The carpet nozzle height self -adjusts instantly and automatically. Your vacuum will float evenly over varying carpet pile lengths. Full Bag Indicator Light: Model CR79 & CR99 A warning light located on the back of the easy carry handle will activate when the dust bag is full, or if the vacuum cleaner is clogged. Replace bag, if full. To check for clogs, unplug vacuum cleaner and inspect agitator area (see " Removing the bottom plate" on page 14) hose and attachment inlet. Special note:When cleaning with attachments, disregard the full bag indicator light. Normal airflow restrictions occur with attachment cleaning and may trigger a false signal. When turning on the vacuum cleaner while the full bag indicator light is on, and the vacuum cleaner will not start, check to see if the dust bag is installed correctly. -11- Handle Adjustments : The handle of this vacuum cleaner can be set to any of three positions: Upright, Middle or Low. 1.To release the handle, step on the pedal at the left rear corner of the vacuum cleaner. 2.Upright position:Handle locks in this position for vacuum cleaner storage. The handle should always be in the upright position when cleaning tools are used. 3.Middle position: This position 1s for normal cleaning. While in the middle position, the front of the nozzle can be raised by lowering the handle in order to cross room thresholds. 4.Low position: This position is used for cleaning under most furniture. CARPET/FLOOR Selector : Model CR79 & CR99 The CARPET/FLOOR selector provides you with the convenience of cleaning carpeted floors and bare floors. 1.When cleaning bare floors, step on the pedal located on the left of the nozzle housing down to the low position. 2. When cleaning carpeted floors, step on the pedal located on the left of the nozzle housing again to return to the high position. for bare floor for carpet cleaning = On-board Cleaning Tools : Model CR79 & CR99 Models CR79 & CR99 are equipped with state-of -the-art, on-board cleaning tools including: Extension wand (for CR79 & CR99) crevice tool dusting brush upholstery tool To use: (for CR79 & CR99 only) 1.Remove 2-piece telescopic wand from wand retainer. 2.Connect 2-piece telescopic wand to extension wand .Unlock wand collar to extend wand to desired length. 3.Attach selected cleaning tool to wand. (Tools may also be attached directly to flexible hose cuff, omitting extension wand.) 4.Cleaning tools are stored conveniently on the back of the vacuum cleaner body. Snap tools back into their appropriate places. 1. | en Available Optional Cleaning Tools: A deluxe attachment set is available for models without on-board tools. It contains: 1.hose assembly 2.curved wand 3.3-piece telescopic wand 4.dusting brush 5.crevice tool 6.upholstery brush -13- Connecting the optional hose assembly : 1. Lift the lid of the cleaning attachment opening located at the back of your Vacuum Cleaner. 2. Insert the hose end until it fits snugly. Connecting the tools : 1.Connect any of the cleaning tools to the extension wand or curved wand and twist for secure fit. 2. Twist and pull apart to remove. Suction Control : 1 To reduce suction when cleaning draperies, small rugs etc., move the suction control slide on the back of the vacuum cleaner by increasing the opening until desired suction power is achieved. Close for normal vacuum operation. Note : Model CR79 & CR99 full-bag indicator light will not operate while suction control is in open position. Suction Control : Model CR99 See Variable Power Control Section on page 12 for adjusting the suction power. -14- REPLACING HEADLIGHT BULB : Step One: Removing the bottom plate *CA UTION: Unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet before servicing. Use handle release pedal to place vacuum in low position. Turn vacuum over to expose underside. 1.Slide the two latches inward to release bottom plate. 2.Slide bottom plate toward front of vacuum. Step Two: Changing the H Model CR69A , CR79 & CR99 Use any standard bayonet base appliance bulb rated 15W. 1.Remove the mounting screw. 2.Carefully lift out the entire headlight assembly. 3.Remove bulb by pushing in lightly and turning counterclockwise. 4.Replace with new bulb, turn clockwise. 5.Reinsert the headlight assembly back into the nozzle housing being careful not to pinch or re-arrange any wires. 6.Reinsert bottom plate making certain that the hinges are in place on the front of the housing before sliding the two latches outward to fasten. -15- RESETTING THE THERMAL SWITCH : Model CR79 & CR99 The Thermal Switch protects the motor from overheating. If the motor stops due to prolonged use, follow step 1 -6 . 1.Set power switch on handle to off position. 2.Unplug the power cord. 3. Wait about 10 minutes to let the motor cool down. 4 Push the reset button lightly to the stop position. 5.Plug in the power cord. 6.Set the power switch to the on position. -16- REPLACING THE DRIVE BELT : 1. Unplug the power cord. 2.Turn the unit over and remove the bottom plate as previously described under REPLACING HEADLIGHT BULB Step One, on page 14. 3.Lift the rear belt cover up and back. 4.Remove the vented support fitting, noting it's position. 5.Remove agitator unit and worn out belt. 6.Loop new belt around motor drive shaft and agitator pulley. 7.Replace agitator unit in housing. 8.Turn agitator unit by hand to install new belt onto guide, making sure belt is not twisted and rotating parts move smoothly. 9.Reinsert the vented support fitting and lower rear belt cover. 10.Reinsert bottom plate making certain that the hinges are in place on the front of the housing before sliding the two latches outward to fasten. CR79 & CR99 -17- CHANGING THE AGITATOR BRUSHES : Replace agitator brushes when they are worn or when the bristles do not touch a card held across the base plate. Replace all four brushes at the same time to maintain maximum cleaning performance. Remove agitator, start as described on page 16 Section 1 to 4. 1.Remove rubber end cap. 2.Unscrew the end cap and remove. 3.Remove the agitator shaft. 4. Remove and replace the brushes on the shaft. 5.Reinstall the pulley and agitator holder making sure they are inserted completely and firmly. 6.Reinstall remaining parts. 7.Reinstall agitator assembly as described previously in Step 6 to 10 on page 16. Use of other products may result in unsatisfactory cleaning or filtration performance. 4 Have your vacuum cleaner checked regularly by your Authorized Vacuum Cleaner Dealer. 5.Use only Vacuum Cleaner Authorized Dealers for repairs parts or service. 6.Carefully store machine in a dry area. 7.For optimum cleaning performance and safety, follow this Owner s Manual. 8.Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference. -18- CLEANING THE NOZZLE : The nozzle hose carries the dirt from the nozzle to the dust bag, and also functions as the attachment cleaning hose. If it should become clogged: Model CR69A,CR79&CR99 1.Unplug the power cord. 2.Open the lid on the cleaning attachment opening, and remove clog or blockage. 3.If the hose is still blocked, remove hose cuff from nozzle inlet. 4 Turn the unit over, remove bottom plate. 5.Check nozzle inlet tube for obstructions. 6.When clear, reinstall bottom plate. See instruction on page 16, Replacing The Drive Belt. Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized Vacuum Cleaner Dealer. -19- Cirrus Limited Warranty What this limited warranty covers: Cirrus Vacuum (“Cirrus”) warrants that your Cirrus domestic model CR69A ,CR79, CR99 vacuum , for a period of two years from your date of purchase, will be free from all defects in material and workmanship for normal household use in accordance with the Owner's Manual. This limited warranty is granted only to the original purchaser. This limited warranty is subject to the following provisions: What this limited warranty does not cover: Expenses related to pick up, delivery or house calls. Parts of the cleaner that require replacement under normal use, such as disposable dust bags, filters, drive belts, light bulbs, and brushroll bristles. Damages or malfunctions caused by accident, acts of God, negligence, abuse, or use not in accordance with the Owners Manual. Defects or damages caused by improper service or maintenance, the use of parts other than genuine Cirrus parts or modifications made to the cleaner without our prior written approval. Damage that occurs during shipment. Vacuums purchased outside the United States. Domestic Vacuums subjected to commercial or rental use. What Cirrus will do: Cirrus will, at its option, repair or replace a defective vacuum or vacuum cleaner part that is covered by this limited warranty. Push down on the knob at the top of the dust cover, remove the old bag, slide a new bag onto the holder, and close the dust cover.
Replace the dust bag. If the vacuum cleaner still doesn't start, check for clogs in the agitator area, hose, and attachment inlet.
Step on the pedal to release the handle, then adjust it to the upright, middle, or low position as needed.
For CR69A, change it with every third dust bag replacement. For CR79 and CR99, refer to the instructions in the manual.
Unplug the power cord, open the cleaning attachment opening, and remove any clogs or blockages. If necessary, remove the hose cuff from the nozzle inlet and check for obstructions.
