HomeSeer HST-IW07 In-Wall Touch Screen Installation Guide
This document contains important information that is specific to the installation of the HomeSeer
HST-IW07 in-wall touch screen unit. The unit is designed for use with Homeseer HSTtouch™ software and is not guaranteed to work with any other software.
Installing the Touch Screen
1. A rectangular hole must be cut into your wall to mount this unit. Please refer to the enclosed template (pictured right) for instructions on cutting this hole. The hole should be just large enough to accept the black plastic case of the unit snugly without excessive play.
2. The screen must be powered and connected to your HomeSeer system (via network connection) to work. If your home network supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), you may accomplish this with one run of PoEenabled CAT5 cabling. Alternately, you may use the enclosed AC power adapter and separate run of CAT5 cabling. Run the cabling inside the wall to your touch screen unit. If you’re unsure about how to do this, consult a custom integrator or electrician.
Note- DO NOT use the AC power adapter if you are also using PoE
3.
Once you’ve powered the unit and connected it to your home network (or directly to your HomeSeer system), you may secure it to the wall. To do this, first remove the plastic front bezel by gently pulling it away from the unit. The bezel is held in place by magnets and should come off easily. With the bezel off, slip the unit into the rectangular hole until the mounting flange is flat against the wall. Then use a
Philips screw driver to turn the mounting wing bolts until the screen is held snugly against the wall. Do not over tighten these as that may damage the drywall.
4. Replace the bezel and power on the unit.
Configuring the Touch Screen Software
1. The screen uses the HSTouch software to control your HomeSeer system. The HSTouch ciient is already installed on the unit. When the unit powers on it attempts to get an IP address from your DHCP server, then listens for UPNP messages from HomeSeer. It uses UPNP to obtain the IP address of
HomeSeer. Make sure HomeSeer is up and running before powering on the screen. If you need to set the HomeSeer IP address manually, click and hold in the upper right hand corner of the touch screen to bring up the config menu. Select the Client Options menu to set the HomeSeer IP address. Note that you must also install the HStouch Plug-In into HomeSeer. This can be found in the HomeSeer Updater. If needed, you an attach a USB mouse to the USB port on the front of the unit (remove the bezel).
2. Download the HSTouch Designer software from our
“downloads” web page at www.homeseer.com
. Use the designer software to build your touch screen template, then deploy the new screens to the touch screen. Please open the help file from within the Designer application for detailed instructions on how to build and download your screens.
3. If you need to assign a static IP address to the touch screen, exit the HSTouch client by clicking and holding in the upper right corner of the screen then select “Exit” from the menu. Now click on Start then select Control Panel then “Network and Dial-Up Connections”.
4. The touch screen may need to be calibrated. To calibrate the screen exit to the operating system as described in step 3. Click on Start then Control Panel, then Stylus, then the Calibration tab.
