The NRC 1 remote control
Thank you for purchasing a Neumann NRC 1 remote control. This
Neumann accessory is designed to compliment Neumann’s extensive range of studio monitors.
The Neumann mounting hardware range gives increased signal
interconnectivity and mounting flexibility, for the cabinets and the
electronics.
About the NRC 1
The NRC 1 allows you to remote control the system output level
(volume level of all loudspeakers, including the subwoofer itself,
connected to the bass management), the LFE gain (0 or +10 dB)
and the bass management (enable/disable) of a 7.1 High Definition
Bass Manager™.

Using the NRC 1
WARNING
Danger of hearing damage due to sudden high sound
pressure levels!
Audio signals that are present at switch-on of a subwoofer or
that can be present during operation, can create sudden, very
high sound pressure levels which can damage your hearing.
XX Always lower the output level of the audio source and set the
volume control of your remote control to a low level before
connecting the remote control to the subwoofer, either directly
or via an SEA 1, or before starting the audio source (pressing
“play”).
If you remove the NRC 1 while the switch VOLUME CONTROL
of the subwoofer is set to “VOLUME CONTROL” or you set the
switch VOLUME CONTROL to “DISABLE” while the NRC 1 is connected, the system output level is immediately set to 0 dB. With
an audio signal present, this can create sudden, very high sound
pressure levels which can damage your hearing.
XX Always lower the output level of the audio source before
removing an NRC 1, either directly connected or via an SEA 1,
or – with the NRC 1 connected – before setting the switch
VOLUME CONTROL of the subwoofer to “DISABLE”.

CAUTION
Material damage due to improper use of cables!
If you insert a network cable that is connected to a subwoofer or
an NRC 1, either directly or via an SEA 1, into a network socket,
the network device and the subwoofer can be damaged.
XX Only connect the subwoofer(s) and the NRC 1 to Neumann
remote controls or devices that deliver a RS-232 signal using
a high-quality Neumann RC CAT5 cable (see below). Do not
use a “crossover” type of CAT5 cable.
XX Only use the NRC 1 with subwoofers equipped with a 7.1 High
Definition Bass Manager.
XX Set the subwoofer’s VOLUME CONTROL switch to “Enable” or
“Volume Control”.
XX Lower the output level of your audio source and set the volume
control of your NRC 1 to a low level.
XX Connect the subwoofer and the NRC 1 using a Neumann RC remote
control cable (to be ordered separately).
The settings of the NRC 1 override the settings of the subwoofer
electronics.
XX Remote control your subwoofer using the NRC 1.
If you disconnect the NRC 1 from the subwoofer or set the subwoofer’s VOLUME CONTROL switch to “Disable”, the system output
level is set to 0 dB and the subwoofer is again controlled via the
subwoofer electronics.

If you want to remote control several subwoofers:
XX Use the NRC 1 together with the Neumann SEA 1 EtherCon adapter.
For more information, refer to the SEA 1 operating manual.
Cleaning and maintaining the NRC 1
CAUTION
Damage to the product caused by liquids!
Liquids entering the product can cause a short-circuit in the
subwoofer electronics and damage or even destroy it.
XX Keep all liquids away from the product.
XX Before cleaning, disconnect the subwoofer from the mains power
supply.
XX Use a soft, dry, and lint-free cloth to clean the product.
