PrevaLED® Flat AC Retrofit Kit Installation Guide
PrevaLED® Flat AC LED light engines are UL certified for retrofit kit installations.
It is highly efficient, 120Vac integrated modules ideal for use in downlights,
sconces and torchieres. These modules are phase-cut dimmable down to 10%
and are available in multiple color temperatures in both 1500 and 2500 lumen
packages.

The PrevaLED Flat AC Retrofit Kit assembly includes:

Touch protect accessory, 5VA rated
(Part # 74109 for 170mm package; Part # 74110 for 240mm package)
Note: It is mandatory to use the above touch protect accessory for all retrofit installations

Keep the original diffuser.
Remove all remaining original fixture, parts, hardware and lamp in order to begin the retrofit.
This product is only to be used in luminaires that employ 22-16 AWG gauge lead wires.
The luminaire provided 22-16AWG gauge leads should be used when connecting the retrofit kit to the
branch wiring circuit.
4. Wiring Information

PrevaLED® Flat AC light engines can be wired by using solid or stranded wires with cross section of 0.5 to
1.5mm2 (AWG18-16) and with a strip length of 6-8mm (0.24-0.31 inch).
The use of solid wires is recommended.
5. Insulation Requirements
•
•
The luminaire manufacturer must ensure basic insulation of the module and all live parts during installation.
It is mandatory to use the touch protect accessory (Part # 74109 for 170mm package; Part # 74110 for
240mm package) with PrevaLED® Flat AC to ensure proper insulation.

PrevaLED® Flat AC light engines fulfills the requirement of the immunity standard IEC/EN 61547.
Osram recommends all PrevaLED® Flat AC light engines to be handled and stored using appropriate ESD
protection methods.

7. Mounting Mechanism

Turn off the power at the source to the installation fixture housing. Remove existing CFL or incandescent
bulbs. Lamp holders and lamp holder leads must be removed.

Unscrew the screws on socket bracket. Remove existing sockets if any from the housing as shown in Figure 2.
When mounting PrevaLED® Flat AC ensure the surface is flat and clean.
For input connection use existing connectors or any suitable wago connectors or wire nuts.
Pass the LED light engine input wires through the wire hole.
Align the LED light engine center hole to the housing center mounting hole shown in Figure 5.
Match all mounting holes with respective housing mounting holes and ensure key mounting holes are not
blocked as shown in Figure 6.

When installing by mounting holes use M4 cylindrical head screws according to DIN 912 or ISO 4762. Use
all mounting holes to ensure good contact between the light engine and mounting surface. The torque
needed is 1.0 (+/-0.5) Nm.
Ground wiring to center mounting hole at the back of the housing shown in Figure 7.
As instructed on the luminaire, other methods of attaching ground wire can be incorporated.
Retain all luminaire and product labelling.
Mount the luminaire by means of center mounting rod or key holes provided.
Secure lens to the luminaire.
Connect power to the retrofit kit.
8. Thermal Management
•

Proper thermal management of LED luminaire is critical for achieving best performance and ensuring
longest lifetime of all components.
Due to high efficiency of the PrevaLED® Flat AC light engine use of Thermal Interface Material (TIM) is not
needed if adequate heat sinking is provided.
TIM, thermal grease or thermal pads can be used to make better thermal connection if required by the
application.
