Key Words
Static IP address : A static IP address is an IP address permanently assigned to computer or network
devices in a TCP/IP network. Static IP address is usually assigned to network devices which are
consistently accessed by any users. For instances, has global static IP address.
Thus, any body can access to the site. If you want to view live video stream from FlexWATCHTM
server over the internet, you need to assign Global Static IP address.
Depending the network Public Static IP(WAN) or Private Static IP can be assigned to network device.
Dynamic IP address : A dynamic IP address is an IP address that is automatically assigned to a
client station (computer, printer, etc.) in a TCP/IP network. Dynamic IP address is typically assigned
by a DHCP server, which can be a computer on the network or another piece of hardware, such as
router. A dynamic IP address may change every time your computer connects to the network
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) : DHCP is software that automatically assigns IP
addresses to client stations logging onto a TCP/IP network. DCHP eliminates having to manually
assign permanent IP addresses to every device on your network. DHCP software typically runs in
servers and is also found in network devices such as routers. Most of Cable Modem internet access
uses DHCP (PPPoA)
Public IP address and Private IP address : Public IP address is an IP address which can be
identified uniquely in Internet world. All IP addresses excluding private IP addresses are public IP
addresses. Private IP addresses range from until, and from until Generally speaking, private IP addresses are used in local area network which are
hidden from the Internet world. Also, when public IP addresses not enough, private IP addresses are
used while sharing global IP addresses
Router : Router is a network hardware which routes either Private or Plublic IP address to Publich
network so that network device between private IP network and Publich IP network can communicate
over the network.. Router has NAT (Network Address Translation) function and through this funtion
Public IP address will be mapped into private IP network so that Network device in the private IP
address can be addedd from internet.
Hub : Hub is a hardware which relay transmission beteen Router and Network device. There are two
typ of Hub. One is Dummy hub and Switching hub. Note that Hub will be used in the local network only.
NAT (Network Address Translation) : Network Address Translation (NAT) translates multiple IP
addressed on the private LAN to one public address that is sent out to the Internet. This adds a level
of security since the address of a PC connected to the private LAN is never transmitted on the Internet.
AOIP (Always On Internet Protocol) Server: AOIP™ server (Always On IP) is run by Seyeon
Technology or its business parent and is a gateway for remote users to access FlexWATCH™ servers
which is connected dynamic IP address over DSL,Cable modem and PSTN network over the internet.
FlexWATCH™ Network Video Server and Camera Server family is fully supported by AOIP server and
any type of IP address(Global Dynamic IP or Private IP) can be assigned to FlexWATCHTM server
and user can access FlexWATCH™ servers from the internet at anytime and anywhere through AOIP

Availability of TCP/IP Network
You need to check out whether you have available TCP/IP network before you install
FlexWATCH™ network Camera and video server. Any network device (computer or
printers) are designed to work with TCP/IP network and IP address should be assigned to
communicate each other. Like wise FlexWATCH™ servers requires one static IP address to
be connected to your existing network so that you can have an access and view live
video through your web browser.
LAN Network
LAN( Local Area Network) is most common network which most of office from Small to
large company has. Most of computers and printers are connected to LAN network in the
company. Under the LAN network, any network devices can not be access from the
internet unless it is not connected to WAN network.
You need to consult with your network Administrator to get IP address to install
FlexWATCH™ Network camera and Video server.
1. Wired LAN
If it is wired LAN network, simply connect the server to the hub and assign the IP
address to the FlexWATCH™ network camera or video server.

2. NTU Unit(DSL bridge)
Although there is a LAN already set up, but if you want to build up separate LAN network
for Camera server or video server network, you can easily build up separate LAN network
using NTU (Network Terminal Unit).
LAN Bridge use twisted pair of Phone line as a wired cable and you just connected
Twisted pair of Phone line to NTU (Network terminal unit) and connect FlexWATCH™
Network Camera or Video server unit. NTU is called as SDSL Bridge as well.

3. Wireless LAN with Access point
Wireless LAN could be an another option for you to easily build up LAN network. This
application is recommended only when there is no wired Network or if you want to set up
separate LAN network only for video monitoring which does not affect existing corporate

WAN (Wide Area Network)
WAN (Wide Area network) includes all the network such as Modem Internet, Leased line,
xDSL, Cable modem Etc and
Any network device can be accessed from the internet as long as public Static IP address
assigned to the Network Device.
But most of case Static private IP address or DHCP enabled Dynamic private IP network
is common.
1. Global Static IP Network
A. Global Static IP address
Leased Line, Cable modem and DSL internet service provider provides Global Static IP
address and you need to subscribe as many global static IP address as you need.
As long as Global Static IP address is to be assigned to FlexWATCH™ servers, it can be
accessed from anywhere and any time
Following is example Diagram of Global Static IP supported network on a leased line.
This network is assumed that only Global Static IP address is assigned to all network
device including FlexWATCH™ servers.

B. Private IP Network under Global Static IP network
Private IP addresses can be assigned to network device in the local network due to
security reason or cost issue for multiple global static IP address, although WAN area
network is connected to Global Static IP network. In this case, router will be used to

bridge Local area network to internet though global static IP network.
If private IP address is assigned to network device, there is no way for user to access the
network video server from the internet. User can view live video stream only in the Local
Network .
But using port forwarding option of Router, Private IP can be accessed from the
internet, if global Static IP is connected to the router.
FlexWATCH™ servers provides HTTP Port change option. Using port forwarding option of
router and assigning different HTTP port number in the FlexWATCH™ servers, you can
connect FlexWATCH™ servers from the internet.
< IP Address of the network : HTTP port# of FlexWATCH>
Private IP ( is assigned to FlexWATCH™ servers and HTTP port of
FlexWATCH™ servers is 8080
Global static IP ( is assigned to Router and Router is configured
to forward your connection to the device which has port# 8080.
In this case, you need to enter IP and port number in the URL field of
web browser
C. DHCP Enabled Network
DHCP option of network is common where there are not plenty of IP address available for
the employees or Network device. IP address of any Network device which is not
temporarily unused will be automatically assigned to other network device. Thus, there is
no guarantee that the IP address assigned to FlexWATCH™ servers cant no be changed.
The only way to assign Static IP to Network device is to use IP pool in the DHCP server
and reserve certain number of IP address as static IP.
D. PPPoA & PPPoE supported Cable modem and xDSL network
There is two different type of protocol serviced by Cable modem and XDSL service
provider. Once is PPPoE and the other is PPPoA..
PPPoA is DHCP server supported network and FlexWATCH™ servers can be directly
connected to PPPoA supported Cable or xDSL network, if global static IP address is to be
provided by service provider.
But if it is PPPoE supported network, Router should be used to connect the FlexWATCH™
servers to the network. Thus, you are required to check service type of your network
before starting installation.
Note that although it is PPPoA enabled network, only Global Static IP can directly be
connected to the FlexWATCH™ servers. Otherwise, you need to your router as well.

2. Dynamic IP from Cable Modem or xDSL ISP.
If Dynamic IP is to be provided by Cable modem or Xdsl service provider, there is no way
to constantly connect network device over the internet, since IP address will be changing
irregularly. Thus, it is not recommended to connect FlexWATCH™ servers to the Dynamic
IP network, if you want to connect the server anytime and anywhere.
To resolve this problem, Seyeon Technology provides Proprietary data service (AOIP
Server) through which user can access to the FlexWATCH™ servers which is connected to
Dynamic IP address or Private IP address at anytime and anywhere. In this case AOIP
server act as a IP gateway for FlexWATCH™ servers.
If you are using inexpensive Dynamic IP address for your internet connection, you
need to register FlexWATCH™ servers to AOIP server.
Configure NAT (Network Address Translation) function of DSL router.
Enable AOIP function of FlexWATCH™ servers so that it can work with AOIP server.
Connect your FlexWATCH™ servers through AOIP server from the internet.
If you do not want to go through AOIP server, you can link live video to the third
party web site as well.

3. PSTN/ISDN Connection
A. Direct Dial-in ( PPP Call from Client )
If there is no broadband network available in the site where FlexWATCH™ servers is
installed, you can connect it to external modem and connect from remote site by using
phone line connection.
You can make a call to FlexWATCH™ servers and view live video from the video
server any time and anywhere.
You do not need to assign any IP address to the system. Simply make a call to
FlexWATCH™ servers using dial-up networking from your PC.
Once you are connected to modem, run your web browser and input default IP
address (192.168.10,1) of FlexWATCH™ servers for PPP connection as specified in
the User manual.
B. Dial-out Connection( TCP/IP Connection)
FlexWATCH™ servers can make a call out to ISP and disconnect the connection for the
user defined time. If FlexWATCH™ servers is registered in AOIP server, you can connect
FlexWATCH™ servers through AOIP server not necessarily make a separate direct call
from remote site.

FlexWATCH™ servers can make a automatic dial out to ISP during the user defined
You use fixed charge of 56K PSTN internet connection to connect it to
FlexWATCH™ servers .
Register video server in AOIP Server and configure the FlexWATCH™ servers to
make a call out to your ISP specifying call out time.
You need to connect AOIP server and view live image from FlexWATCH™ servers
for the user defined time you configured.
