Using the USB Interface for Schneider Electronic-Shutter
with a Leaf Credo Back
The Schneider USB Interface is designed to enable control of the Schneider
Electronic-Shutter system from a PC (Win 2000/XP/Vista/Win7) or Mac (OS X).
Mamiya Leaf and Schneider Kreuznach have been working closely together to
provide a seamless integration of the Schneider Electronic Shutter System into the
Capture One workflow for tethered shooting.
The computer-based shutter control is now possible by using Capture One in
conjunction with Schneider Shutter Control software.
In order to use the USB-Interface for Schneider Electronic-Shutter with a Leaf Credo
digital back, you must have the following:

Leaf Credo digital back
Schneider electronic shutter lens
Schneider USB Interface package, which is available from Schneider dealers
and includes:
o USB Interface for Schneider Electronic-Shutter
o Schneider USB cable
o Schneider Shutter Control Software (also available from Schneider
website)
Leaf Credo Schneider Integration Package (518-04230A), which is available
from Leaf dealers includes:
o Leaf Schneider Shutter cable 1 m
o Extension cable
FireWire or USB 3.0 cable

Digital Back Firmware
The Leaf Credo firmware should be 1.00.3 or later. The latest firmware is available
for download from the Mamiya Leaf website
http://www.mamiyaleaf.com/firmware.asp. The firmware release note contains
instructions for installing the firmware.
Note: BEFORE connecting the Schneider USB-Interface to your computer, install
the PC or Mac software from the Schneider software CD.
Connecting the USB-Interface for Schneider Electronic-Shutter to the Leaf
Credo
To connect the USB-Interface for Schneider Electronic-Shutter to the Leaf Credo:
1. Mount the Leaf Credo back to the camera with an appropriate adapter.
2. Mount a Schneider electronic shutter lens to the camera.
3. Connect the Schneider Shutter cable from the Schneider shutter to the
Schneider USB-Interface.
4. Connect the Leaf Shutter cable from the Credo back to the Schneider USBInterface.
5. Connect the USB cable from the Schneider USB-Interface to a USB port on
your computer.
6. Connect a FireWire or USB 3.0 cable from your Credo back to your computer.
Setting Camera Mode on the Credo
Ensure that the Camera Mode is set to Normal:
1. Tap Camera Settings and scroll to the third screen.
2. If the Camera Mode is set to anything other than Normal, tap Camera Mode
and select Normal.

Setting Shutter Latency
Set your Leaf Credo to Normal Latency:
1. Tap Camera Settings and scroll to the third screen.
2. From the Shutter Latency menu, select Normal.

To use the USB Interface for Schneider Electronic-Shutter with your Leaf Credo
Back:
1. Launch Capture One and Schneider Kreuznach Shutter Control software.

2. In the Schneider Kreuznach Shutter Control panel, click Select lens to start
control of the lens.
The lens model appears in the Schneider Kreuznach Shutter Control panel.
You now have full control of the lens via the Schneider Kreuznach Shutter
Control panel, which appears as a floating palette on the Capture One
screen.
3. Select Ext. release to enable Capture One to trigger the shutter.

4. Trigger the shutter using the Capture button in Capture One or via the
external Schneider cable release supplied with the Schneider USB Interface.
Note: Capture from the Release button in the Schneider Shutter control software is
not supported.
