2016 Honda Pilot
Buyer’s Guide
Are you looking for the perfect vehicle for the entire
family? The 2016 Honda Pilot may be the one for you!
The vehicle can seat eight passengers and is fully
equipped with the latest technology that’s sure to
keep everyone happy. So whether you’re interested in
highway passing power, advanced safety features, or
innovative technology, the Pilot has it all.
Let’s take a closer look at this affordable midsize SUV.
What’s New for the 2016 Model?
The Honda Pilot has been redesigned for the 2016
model year. With an incredibly spacious cabin, the Pilot
is a great option for those looking for plenty of room for
the whole family, plus it comes with high-end materials
and rides like a car.
The sleek and sporty front end, more aerodynamic
rounded rear, and less boxy body style make the 2016
Pilot an even more attractive option over the 2015
model, as it’s clear that the vehicle has moved away
from its SUV roots and looks more like the desirable
crossover style.
Standard Specifications
Honda didn’t earn their reputation for producing highquality and well-equipped vehicles by skimping on
standard features. In fact, the base version of the Pilot
is loaded with all of the features you’re looking for from
the affordable vehicle.
Power and Handling
A 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC V6 aluminum alloy engine
that produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque
powers the 2016 Honda Pilot. This engine is paired
with a standard six-speed automatic transmission that
offers smooth, quiet transitions. Plus there’s direct
fuel injection and a Drive-By-Wire throttle system that
delivers power quickly and efficiently.
The 2016 Pilot also has the Eco Assist System and
Variable Cylinder Management, which add to the
vehicle’s efficiency. And Active Noise Cancellation gives
you an incredibly quiet interior that perfectly blocks out
road noise.
Comfort and Convenience
When it comes to comfort and convenience, we want
to discuss space and features in the 2016 Honda Pilot.
It offers 152.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, which
means there’s plenty of elbow room for everyone.
Plus there’s 40.1 inches of headroom in the front,
40.2 inches in the middle, and 38.9 inches in the rear.
In terms of legroom, the Pilot has 40.9 inches in the
front, 38.4 inches in the middle, and 31.9 inches in
the rear. While the rear seat may be a bit snug for tall
adults, it’s perfect for the kiddos.

start, power door and tailgate locks, cruise control, a
multi-functional center console with storage, a lockable
glove compartment, remote fuel filler door release, rearseat heater ducts, a 60/40 split flat-folding third-row
bench seat, and illuminated steering wheel–mounted
controls for cruise, audio, and phone. Who wouldn’t be
happy with all of these standard features?
The 2016 Pilot features a seven-speaker 200-watt audio
system with a subwoofer. The system has a 5-inch LCD
color screen and features Bluetooth HandsFreeLink,
Bluetooth streaming audio, an MP3/auxiliary input jack,
Windows Media Audio playback capability, speedsensitive volume control, and a Radio Data System that
gives you information about what’s currently playing
on your audio system. It also comes with a USB audio
interface with a charging port in the center console.
While Honda vehicles excel in every category, they
really go above and beyond when it comes to standard
safety features. The 2016 Honda Pilot comes standard
with Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control, an
anti-lock braking system, Electronic Brake Distribution,
Brake Assist, a tire pressure monitoring system with
Tire Fill Assist and location and pressure indicators,
daytime running lights, and a multi-angle rearview
camera with guidelines.
The vehicle also comes with LED brake lights that are
easy for other drivers to see, remote entry, and multireflector halogen headlights with automatic off.
Though the 2016 Honda Pilot is equipped with a lengthy
list of standard features, the vehicle offers five trim
levels, each with an increasing number of available
features that builds on what you get in the base version.
This is the standard Pilot trim and is available in eight
exterior colors: Black Forest Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl,
Dark Cherry Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel
Metallic, Obsidian Blue Pearl, Steel Sapphire Metallic,
and White Diamond Pearl. It comes with one interior
color: beige fabric. The Pilot LX is available with either
two-wheel drive (standard) or all-wheel drive.
The EX offers the same features and color options as
the base LX but gets several upgrades, including a 10way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar
support, HondaLink, SiriusXM Radio, two additional
USB audio ports, and Intelligent Traction Management.
It’s also available with the Honda Sensing feature suite
and two-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, or two-wheel drive
with Honda Sensing.

DVD rear entertainment system, a 115-volt power outlet,
integrated second-row sunshades, a nine-speed
automatic transmission with paddle shifters, 20-inch
alloy wheels, a 540-watt premium audio system with
10 speakers and a subwoofer, idle stop, dual second-row
high-speed USB charging ports (for a total of five in the
vehicle), and a driver’s seat with two-position memory.
It’s available with either two- or all-wheel drive, both
with Honda Sensing.
The most inclusive of the Pilot’s trim is the Elite. This
version of the vehicle offers a slightly upgraded interior
leather material in gray or black. Among the upgrades
with this trim are heated and ventilated front seats,
heated second-row captain’s chairs, a heated steering
wheel, a panoramic roof, LED headlights with auto on/
off and auto high beams, the Blind Spot Information
System with Cross Traffic Monitor, and the Intelligent
Variable Torque Management all-wheel drive system.
Accessorizing the 2016 Honda Pilot
While the 2016 Honda Pilot offers incredible features
among its five trim levels, on top of the alreadyamazing list of standard features, there are still more
ways to customize it. Honda offers a lengthy list of
available accessories for the interior and exterior of
the Pilot that can make the vehicle feel more like your
own. Among our favorite exterior accessories are
the bike attachment-trailer hitch mount, snowboard
attachment, roof box (available in short and midsize),
and a tent for car camping.
You can also add chrome detailing to specific areas
of the vehicle, including the front bumper, tailgate,
door mirrors, and running boards, for a sportier look.
There are several wheel options available as well that
can make the vehicle look flashier or more luxurious,
depending on your personal preference.
Some of our favorite interior accessories offered for
the Pilot include the following:
• All-season floor mats
Cargo cover
Cargo organizer
