Release the quick release button and check that the wheel is locked on. To remove the wheel; push in the front wheel quick release button on the front wheel housing and pull the wheel unit from the axle stub. NOTE, the axle stub can become greasy and may leave marks on other surfaces it comes into contact with. To prevent marking clean the axle stub with a cloth. To keep the front wheel swivelling freely ensure the axle stub is regularly lubricated. If steering becomes stiff, remove front wheel unit, clean, lubricate and refit. Press and hold wheel release button OPERATING THE SWIVEL FRONT WHEEL The front wheel can be used in swivel-wheel or fixed-wheel mode. References to left and right in this section are made assuming that the person is standing in front of the pushchair. To switch from locked to swivel; slide the wheel lock lever on the front of the wheel unit to the right, to switch back to locked; slide the wheel lock lever to the left, wheel will lock automatically when returned to the travel forwards position. 0 Push RIGHT for swivel-wheel mode Push lever LEFT to lock the wheel in the forwards position ADJUSTING THE HANDLE HEIGHT To adjust the handle position; standing in the pushing position simultaneously press in the adjustment buttons located on the outside of each side of the handle, push/pull handle up/down to one of the pre-set positions. Press simultaneously the buttons at either side of the handle and push/pull the handle up/down. MA” USING THE PARKING BRAKE To engage the brake; firmly press down with your foot the brake lever found near the right hand side rear wheel. Check that the brake is fully engaged before letting go of the handle. To release the brake, with your foot press forwards on top of the brake lever until the wheels move freely. NEVER Leave the vehicle without first engaging the brake. lever UP brake OFF Î Always engage the parking brake fully when placing or removing children from the vehicle. OPENING THE CHASSIS Release the chassis travel strap and clip (Image 1). With the chassis positioned as in Image 3, pull the handle and the lower chassis frame away from each other in the direction of the arrows. The chassis will start to open. Continue to lift the handle until it clicks into position. The handle will click when the handle tubes are locked in line with the lower tubes. —@ Warning! To avoid injury ensure that children are kept away when unfolding and folding this product. 1. Flip chassis onto its wheels. 2. Lift handle until a it clicks into position. Ne Open Chassis FITTING THE REVERSIBLE SEAT UNIT To fit the reversible seat unit to the chassis; hold the seat unit by the seat edge and lower the seat unit into the attachment fittings left & right. Push down until the seat clicks and locks into position. Ensure the seat is locked into position by trying to pull the seat from the chassis. The seat can be fitted facing forwards or facing backwards. REMOVING THE REVERSIBLE SEAT UNIT Hold the seat unit by the seat sides and the seat unit release catches (left & right), press in the catches in with your fingers and lift the seat unit from the attachment device and away from the stroller. NEVER attempt to fit or remove the seat unit while the seat unit is occupied. Press IN the release catches to remove Seat Unit FITTING THE HAMMOCK SEAT UNIT Fitting the hammock seat unit requires six steps. Follow the steps in order and then check that the seat unit is attached correctly by trying to lift it from the chassis. 1. Locate the hammock seat unit attachment devices and position over the chassis side tube in line with the attachments nodules. 2. Twist hammock seat unit attachment device around chassis tube in direction of arrow until device locks into place with a click on attachment nodules. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to attach the other side of the seat unit. WARNING Ensure that the hammock seat unit attachment device locks onto the attachment nodule. Test this by trying to slide the attachment device up and down the handle tube; if fitted correctly it will not move. 5 4. Attach the clips, one clip right one clip left, located at the side of the hammock seat unit to the chassis by first locating the clip and then the corresponding attachment peg on the chassis arm. _ 5. Locate the two webbing 4 straps on the bottom of the seat base and wrap the straps over the flat surface of the cross bar and underneath and then connect the press-studs, one strap on left side, one strap on right side. 6. The shopping basket straps attach into the same hole as the Hammock seat attachment straps. To attach the hammock seat calf rest to the chassis; locate the attachment holes on the 4 chassis footrest that hold the shopping basket straps. Locate the attachment straps on the underside of the hammock seat unit calf rest left and right. Open the Velcro and thread through the hole whilst pulling the shopping basket strap through the hole to make room. Repeat for the other side. Once located in the hole fasten the hammock seat unit attachment strap to the calf rest using the Velcro and return the shopping basket straps to their original position. The hole will now contain both straps. Hammock seat unit attachment stra Shopping basket | attachment straps’ REMOVING THE HAMMOCK SEAT UNIT To remove the hammock seat unit from the chassis; 1. Locate the hammock seat unit attachment ” device. Where the device is located onto | the attachment nodule on the chassis. Push it back and twist until the attachment device detaches from the nodules on the chassis. 2. Twist the attachment device in the direction of the arrow until it is released from the chassis. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the opposite side of the seat unit. Detach the clips on the side of the hammock seat unit from the chassis. Release the press-studs underneath the seat base and unfasten the Velcro straps that connect to the footrest. The hammock seat unit can now be lifted from the chassis. FOLDING THE CHASSIS Always remove the reversible seat before folding the chassis Step1. Press | down button on top of slider Step 1: Press and hold down the button on top of the slider. EU — Step 2. Press and hold button and pull back both sliders. Step 2: While holding the button (pressed-in) pull the slider triggers (left and right) with your index fingers and push down. The chassis will start to fold. Always ensure the child is clear of moving parts while making adjustments N Push the handle down towards the floor. The chassis will start to fold. If the chassis does not start to fold easily it is likely that the button is not fully pressed down and/or the sliders are not fully pulled back, if this happens repeat steps 1 and 2 until the handle moves easily in the direction shown by the arrow in the image. Attach the chassis travel lock and clip. CAUTION: It is important when folding the chassis that the button is fully pressed down and that the sliders are fully lifted before folding the chassis, failure to do this could damage the folding device. —o FOLDING THE CHASSIS WITH THE HAMMOCK SEAT UNIT FITTED The Oyster Gem can be folded with the hammock seat unit fitted. To fold the chassis with the hammock seat unit fitted; fold the hood back and ensure that the seat is positioned in the most upright position. Adjust the hammock seat unit as described in the section ‘ADJUSTING THE HAMMOCK SEAT UNIT BACKREST’ overleaf. The chassis can now be folded as described on pages 15 and 16 in “FOLDING THE CHASSIS.” RECLINING THE REVERSIBLE SEAT UNIT The reversible seat unit can be reclined or sat upright by pressing in the two buttons (left & right) at the inside of the seat unit. These buttons are located half way down the seat unit side adjacent to the reversible seat unit attachment device and are beneath the cover textile. Push in the buttons (in the area marked by a stitch circle) simultaneously and adjust the seat to one of the pre-set positions. To return the seat unit to the upright position; press in the the buttons and rotate the seat unit until it clicks into position. There are three pre-set positions. 2 — ADJUSTING THE HAMMOCK SEAT UNIT BACKREST To recline the seat; locate the hammock seat unit backrest adjustment device on the back of the seat. Simultaneously press together and pull back de Simultaneously press together the buttons either side of the adjustment device and pull back away from the seat unit. This action loosens the backrest support strap and reclines the seat. The seat unit can be fully reclined or reclined slightly dependant on the extent to which the adjustment device is pulled back. When the hammock seat is used the hood extension should always be attached by the zipper and the press studs on the seat backrest. 1m Attach the hood extension with the zip and the press-studs. Hood extension attached To return the seat unit to the upright position; simultaneously press together the buttons either side of the adjustment device and pull the webbed strap whilst pushing the adjustment device forwards. f Simultaneously press together and push forwards- whilst pulling” strap NN FITTING THE CARRYCOT TO THE CHASSIS The carrycot should only be fitted to the chassis when the seat unit or car seat has been removed. The carrycot can only be fitted to the chassis facing the handle. Before fitting the carrycot to the Oyster Gem chassis, the Gem carrycot adaptors must be fitted. ww Gem carrycot adaptors Insert the carrycot adaptors into the Oyster Gem chassis attachment device, the adaptors are marked “R” and "| for right and left. Push down on the adaptors until they click and lock into position. Check that they are securely locked into position. Once the adaptors are securely fitted; Lower the carrycot so that the fittings in the middle of the carrycot line up with the Gem carrycot adaptors located in the attachment device. Push the carrycot down until it clicks into position. Check that the carrycot is securely attached by trying to lift the carrycot from the chassis. REMOVING THE CARRYCOT FROM THE CHASSIS To remove the carrycot from the chassis; Hold the carrycot by the two release handles, and pull the handles up with your fingers. The carrycot will be released from the Gem carrycot adaptors located in the attachment device. To remove the carrycot adaptors from the Oyster Gem chassis; Press-in the lever on top of the adaptor and lift adaptor up. Pull UP on release handles to remove carrycot 2 LOWERING THE CARRYCOT HOOD The carrycot hood can be lowered (reclined backwards) by pressing in the ; two buttons (left & aC right) at the outside base of the hood opening. Push in the buttons and recline the hood. To erect the hood; lift up the hood until it clicks into position. Hood recline button CAR SEAT OPTIONS The Oyster Gem chassis can be combined with the BabyStyle LB321 car seat as well as the Maxi Cosi Pebble car seat. OYSTER GEM CAR SEAT ADAPTORS See images below for the correct adaptors to use when attaching your car seat to the Gem chassis. nA Gem Multi car Gem LB321 seat adaptor car seat adaptor (Maxi Cosi Pebble) —B FITTING THE OYSTER CAR SEAT (model LB321) TO THE CHASSIS To fit the car seat; firstly select the correct adaptors to fit your car seat to the Gem chassis. Adaptor options are shown on page 22. The car seat should not be attached to the chassis until the seat unit or the carrycot and carrycot adaptors have been removed. Insert the car seat adaptors into the Gem chassis attachment device, the adaptors are marked “R" and С” for right and left. Push down on the adaptors until they click and lock into position. Hold the car seat by the carry handle and lower the car seat onto the car seat adaptors. The adaptors should slot into the cavity at the base of the car seat handle left and right. Push the car seat down firmly until the car seat clicks and locks into position. Check that the car seat is secure and locked by pulling up on the car seat handle. REMOVING THE OYSTER CAR SEAT (model LB321) FROM THE CHASSIS To remove the car seat from the chassis; press down on the two red buttons on the sides of the car seat (not the handle adjustment buttons where the handle turns) and lift the car seat away from the chassis. To remove the adaptors from the chassis, push in the levers and lift the adaptors away from the attachment device. FITTING THE MULTI CAR SEAT ADAPTORS AND MAXI COSI PEBBLE CAR SEAT Remove any seat unit, carrycot or adaptor from the chassis. Insert the adaptors into the attachment device. The adaptors are marked “R and L for right and left, push down until they click and lock in position. Hold the car seat by the handle and lower the seat onto the adaptors. The adaptors should slot into the cavity at the base of the car seat handle on each side. Push the seat down firmly until it locks into position. Check the car seat is secure by pulling up on the car seat handle. REMOVING A MAXI COSI PEBBLE FROM THE CHASSIS To remove the car seat from the chassis; Press down on the two buttons on the sides of the car seat (not the handle adjustment buttons used to operate the handle recline) and lift the car seat away from the chassis. To remove the adaptors from the chassis, push-in the levers and lift the adaptors away from the attachment device. — RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SAFETY HARNESS) restraint buckle Crotch strap and buckle Waist belt Waist belt and buckle and buckle USING THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SAFETY HARNESS) Always apply the parking brake before placing your child in the vehicle. The restraint system has two shoulder straps, two waist belts and a crotch strap. Place the two shoulder straps over the child's shoulders and the waist belts around the child's waist. The crotch strap should be placed between the child's legs. The waist belts and shoulder straps should be clipped into the centre buckle at the end of the crotch strap. The harness can be adjusted to suit your child by sliding the adjusters along the shoulder straps and waist belts and crotch strap. To release the restraint system, push the buttons on the centre buckle. WARNING Always use the crotch strap in combination with the waist belt. ALWAYS USE THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SAFETY HARNESS) El — HOOD/ SUN CANOPY The Oyster Gem has a multi function hood that helps to protect your child from the elements. The hood has two sections, there is also a removable extra hood section supplied with the Oyster Gem for use with the hammock seat. The hood can also be removed altogether. Always use the extra hood section when using the Hammock seat. TO FIT/ REMOVE THE HOOD Hammock seat unit; with the extra hood section zipped in place, connect the press-studs on the back of the Hammock seat with the press studs on the extra hood section. Line up the plastic components on the hood sides and insert them into the corresponding plastic parts on the sides of the seat. Push them down until they click into position. To remove the hood; release the two press studs on the back of the hood and un-clip the hood at the plastic parts on the seat sides. Reversible seat; remove the extra hood section (if connected) by unzipping. Place the fabric at the hood rear so that it is behind the seat back and attach the plastic hood clips at the seat sides. To remove, release the plastic hood clips at the seat sides and lift away. Removing Fitting A > Line up hood connecting bar with the Release clips connecting and lift away slots ZIPPERED CANOPY EXTENSION To maximise the hood coverage there is a zippered section in the middle of the hood. Unfasten the zip and extend the hood. Fasten the zip to reduce the hood coverage. FITTING THE APRON Hammock seat; Place the bottom part of the apron so that It rests on the foot rest and fasten the press-studs at the top of the apron to the corresponding press-studs on the outside of the seat sides. Reversible seat; Place the bottom inside edge of the apron under the seat leg rest and fasten the press-studs at the top of the apron with the corresponding press-studs on the side of the canopy. To remove the apron release the press-studs and take away. FITTING THE FOOTMUFF The footmuff top cover can be removed by unfastening the Zip. The base of the footmuff can be used as a seat liner without the top part. To attach the footmuff to the seat unit; release the harness clips from the centre buckle and release the shoulder straps from the waist belts at the buckle connection. Pass the shoulder straps and waist belts through the corresponding openings in the footmuff. Pass the crotch strap through the opening in the footmuff. Attach the two press-studs at the rear top of the seat backrest to the two press-studs on the top of the footmuff. FITTING THE STROLLER RAIN COVER Place the rain cover over the stroller; the rain cover needs the stroller hood to be fitted to support the rain cover. Fasten the Velcro strips together. To remove; undo the Velcro strips and take away. FITTING THE CARRYCOT RAIN COVER With the carrycot hood in the upright position place the rain cover over the hood so that the flap on the rain cover corresponds with the opening in the carrycot hood. Pull the rain cover down to the rear of the hood so that the elasticated edge covers the rear of the carrycot. Ease the front part of the raincover over the apron and down and around the front sides of the carrycot. —g CARE AND MAINTENANCE + Regularly check screws, rivets, bolts & fastenings to ensure they are locked tight and secure. Replace any parts in an inferior condition. Should you intend to use the pushchair during the winter, by the sea or off-road; it is important to clean thoroughly & dry the vehicle after use. Salt from the ocean or from roads will corrode metal parts unless removed. After use in these circumstances clean with fresh water and thoroughly dry after use. + Check on a regular basis that all chassis locking devices are working correctly. + If any part of the pushchair is damaged contact your local BabyStyle retailer immediately without using the pushchair. * Do not expose your pushchair to excessive sunlight for extensive periods of time, even normal exposure to sunlight may cause the colour of the fabric to change. + Take care not to tear the fabrics while transporting the pushchair. * Light oil or silicone spray is suitable to use as a lubricant for moving parts. Petroleum jelly is a good lubricant to use on the front axle stub. Periodically remove the front swivel wheel unit to clean and lubricate with petroleum jelly. + Ensure that zips are either uly open or fully closed otherwise they may get damaged. * Always use the rain cover in inclement weather. * Do not place items on the hood/canopy, it may damage the vehicle and/or render it unsafe. + Rubber tyres can leave marks on some surfaces. The tyres can react with some surfaces (vinyl floor coverings, carpets etc.) and cause stains. Always stand the stroller on a protective surface indoors. + Routinely clean the metal parts with a damp cloth & then dry immediately. + Fabrics should be cleaned following the guidance on the care labels. ° Do not wash in the washing machine. Sponge clean or hand wash with mild detergent and warm water (30°C). Е) — WARRANTY Baby Style À stroller has many moving parts and requires regular maintenance by the user. Simple cleaning and lubricating will make the stroller look good & operate better for longer. The stroller will be used in many different environments, country walks, a trip to the coast; a winter's walk to school, all can increase wear; lead to rust and corrosion and reduce the life of the product. Regular cleaning; care and maintenance will reduce the effects of the environment on the stroller. The warranty does not protect the stroller against overloading, misuse, neglect or lack of care and maintenance by the user. BabyStyle UK Ltd provides a warranty in support of the retailer from whom you purchased this product. The warranty is effective for 12 months from the date of purchase for the original purchaser/owner. Proof of purchase will (at the discretion of BabyStyle UK Ltd) be required in order for your retailer to claim on the warranty. The warranty excludes any fault caused by misuse, damage or neglect.
